  1. I can't like but have that. What is even more impressive those were built without a spirit level. just using a plumbline and a board. TC
  2. JD Is that how you were taught to do the bonding? Using fletons and lime mortar you have done a good job. Your corners are plum your perps are in line and there is a good guage to the work. Just a couple of points the wedges have slipped on the left hand side of the queen anne arch and the voussoirs are a little lower on the left hand side of the arch. When you started the apperture you correctly change the bond and put in two queen closures instead of a half bat. Those should have continued till the course above the top of the arch. Never put a closure next to a reveal. On the third c

  5. Those photos almost made me cry. I look at those and I think back to my youth. All I cared about was being out with my father, hunting or fishing it did not matter, those memories have stuck with me for well over 50 years. Those early days gave me a pathway through life, they taught me so much that held me in good stead in later life. You are giving your kids the best start anyone possibly could. TC
  6. And there in lies the irony within his posts. Only explained with far more eloquence than I could ever muster. TC
  7. Mal, If I have read this thread right? What you have there is micro evolution and most are in agreement that it happens. What some do not agree about is macro evolution where fishes evolve into other spieces. I think? TC
  8. With respect, all science is theory. At any time something could be observed which completely fecks up any part of science. I agree 100%, so how can someone quote a scientific hypothesis and use it to prove the existence or non existence of a supreme being? TC You can't! Basing an argument for or against God on Science and logic is pointless! Completely pointless. Exactly. You cannot deride someones faith, but when someone tries to quantify that faith with science, it does seem as if blind faith is not enough for them? TC

  10. TFM. As stated you do debate well, perhaps a little too well? You denounce the author of the book as "a hardened, aggressive, evangelical atheist and evolutionist". Then persue your cause with equal zealotry. Evolution at this moment in time is just a theory, and like all theories has yet to be proved. I have no axe to grind, being an agnostic it gives me an open mind that will listen to both sides and evaluate for myself. Up untill your last post, you have had sound if not somewhat Ironic reasoning. The reason perhaps, that some have taken to lightly ridiculing you, may well be your p

  12. Well I find his posts really Ironic, he is using science (or the lack of it) to try and prove the creationists theory. TC
  13. Without a doubt there are places where the rabbits need culling all year round. However, those places are getting fewer and far between. I remember back years ago, where people who were relativly new to lamping had two seasons summer and winter. There were also the ones that were complaining about the lack of rabbits on their ground. Where as I would hit the rabbits hard in the autumn and as soon as the numbers dropped in an area would leave that area alone till the next season. I have never had a farmer tell me that he was dropping me in favour of someone else. TC
  14. The good thing about trammels is that they are not affected by the wind as much as a normal net. If you are ferreting hedgerows using normal stop nets one each side of a warren, with any sort of a breeze one of the nets the bag of the net will be blowing the wrong way ie, towards the oncoming rabbits. With a trammel this still happens to an extent but by pulling the slack in the net up over the headline it reduces the effect so well that it becomes almost non-existent. As soon as a rabbit hits the net it pulls the netting off the headline without any problems. TC
  15. I was just answering your penultimate question when my computer crashed. So I threw a wobbly (and nearly the computer out the window) I will try again. 1. Who uses Trammels ??? Quite a few people judging by the amount I have sold. I know moley bought some of netrigger and is over the moon with them. Max Abell also loves them he has bought quite a few off me. 2. What lengh nets and in what situation do you use them , Daytime - nights - both ?? I only make trammel stop nets 6 to 8 yarders. I don't know if he still does but netrigger has made some 25 yarders (braver man than me
  16. Lovely pictures. So much nicer to see them alive. TC
  17. God is just a set of rules with which to live your life by. Evolution cannot explain Homo Erectus. In truth there is no real reason for Homo Sapiens to be on this planet. Unlike any other animal on this planet they do not have a niché that they fit into in any natural way. TC
  18. Who in their right mind would want to watch 22 poofs chasing a bag of wind around a field? TC
  19. I remember seeing a film about the Sea trout in puerto del fuego many years ago. It really captured my imagination. The same film (I think) showed the catching of 5lb wild brownies from what we would class as streams. TC
  20. If you have a wisp or a stye on your eyelid hold a used teabag on it or rub it with a gold wedding ring. TC
  21. It never ceases to amaze me when ever I mention cutting the net off a ring how people are totally against it, and will go to all sorts to avoid doing it. It takes just over a minute to knit a row and a fair bit longer to unthread the meshes off a split ring or what ever. Never seen the point myself. Edited to add: It's the same with starting new net. The sensible and quickest way to do it is to carry on knitting once you have finished one net, do an extra 10 or so rows then just cut the net, so you do not have to restart when making the new net. Will people do it? Will they heck. T
  22. I remember 1966 something happened that year as well?
  23. Totally agree. But I will make an execption. I will show you what you need to get hold of for a pound, they can be bought. At the right time of the year you could make a lot of money with these items. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LARGE-BIG-4-5L-BELLS-BOTTLE-savings-whisky-money-box-/380631686899?pt=UK_Collectables_Bottle_Pots_ET&hash=item589f6a9ef3&nma=true&si=b6P0ombnvx2X6WiLMT5J77Eh7uU%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 TC
