  1. Im not saying it should be done but if the males are sterile I assume they could be used in the same way as a vac hob? Theres another 50 quid on the price of the hobs. Kerching  TC
  2. Yes once you have finished the main body of the net then you add the selvedges. TC
  3. The polecat / ferret can hybridise with the european mink, the male offsprings are sterile but some females can be viable. http://www.ferret.ru/eng/khonorik.html So it is possible but very unlikely. I wonder if you bought one and it did not have mink dna in its genes how much you could sue them for? TC
  4. I raised a litter of 4 about 4 years ago, but that was from 4 weeks old and they were eating mince and lapping goats milk or kitten milk from pets at home. When you stimulate them to defecate dont be too gentle with them. I found a flannel dipped in luke warm water and rubbed firmly worked best for me. If they are not lapping go to a chemist and get an eye / ear dropper a couple of pence they are, and warm the milk a little before you feed them. Good luck. TC
  5. While I agree that the book does cover all the bases, when Martin wrote the book he decided not to take the tactical approach with it. A sequal perhaps? For anyone buying the book read what Martin states time and time again through the book, that is the way he does it. It is up to the netter to find 'their way,' using the basics that the book provides. I have to agree with smithie, it is the best book on long netting available at the moment. TC
  6. LOL no need for a pic of my old jacket Lukes is just the same, just much posher. TC
  7. You will be able to watch them live online at, http://www.firstrow1.eu/sport/rugby.html http://www.wiziwig.tv/competition.php?part=sports&discipline=rugby Be prepared to get past some pop-ups though. Edited to add if you have a cable you can stream them on your tv from a laptop. TC
  8. Well done on catching the thief, but if I were you I would take that photo down. pretty quickly. TC
  9. I am working my way through all of the old threads in this forum. Any that are intresting I will post here. Here is a good one. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/51785-cheap-drop-net-update/ TC
  10. Another thread from the same author. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/31141-night-time-longnetting-2/ TC
  11. I was looking through some archived threads, this one is very good read. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/16124-nightime-longnetting/ TC
  12. Hartley found guilty and given a 11 week ban, pending an appeal. Rory Best called up. TC
  13. He is a bit of a dick head but if you let players get away with this how long before the players start acting like football players and chasing the refs down the field. The whole ethos of rugby is based upon being civil to the ref and hitting forty sorts of shit out of each other and shaking hands after. I think Hartley was extremely lucky to be on the tour in the first place imo, so no real loss having Best instead. It could even be to ken Owens advantage even. He is mobile around the field and his throwing is better than bests. Edited to add: Pity he is injured. Dohhhhhhhh
  14. Neither did I till I started long netting, it was only then that I could see just how many rabbits I was missing. Now if it means a longer walk just to enter the field correctly for the wind direction, then I take the walk. That said, sometimes it is not possible to get into the field correctly I agree, so I leave it till it is. TC
  15. Hartley set to miss Lions tour for calling Wayne Barns a cheat. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-union/22668122 Could mean a chance for Rory Best? TC
  16. Who the hell is Bronson? TC
  17. You can have a lot of fun with that set up and a dog. If you have an area where there are bramble patches where the rabbits lay up in. Watch the dog it will tell you if there is anything in a patch, if it marks a patch stop it before it goes in, the surround the patch with the net, or better still try to work out where the rabbit is going to run too and place the net to intercept it. You will not get it right at first but you will sure as hell learn a lot. Bushing with a pointer and a 25 yard net is absolutely brilliant sport. You also learn to improvise when setting the net as the ground
  18. Just courious, why? Quarry can pick up the smell and are more aware. Cheers, D. Walking into the wind? If they can smell the smoke then you are doing it all wrong. it really make me laugh when people say all the rabbits were on the hedges. Why? Because they put them there with bad field craft. I have lost count of the times I have been told it does not matter. I used to try and educate them at first, now I just say "is it"? TC
  19. Just courious, why?none smokers hate it but smokers can't see any problem, I personally don't like it when people spark up, it smells for miles and I breath more in than they do. Fair comment, but, It should have no effect on the rabbits. TC i have been out with smokers lamping and caught a good few but I would say rabbits can smell it as well and may be scare some off but not 100% about this. If your lamping right they will never smell it. Honest! Edited to add thats the rabbits, not the partner. TC

  21. Just to add, them going back to where you have taken them, Why are we going this way we did it different the last time. (Dohh because the wind has changed) It's hard to find a good partner, if you have one keep him / or her. TC
  22. The fact there there is someone else with you. Talking, taking ages to get over fences gates, trying to kick a rabbit that passed close to them and the classic "did I tell you I have to be home in two hours" after you have just driven an hour to get to the place. Ended up going by myself and was far happier with it, and caught a lot more rabbits through it. TC
