How quiet is his Jeep? you could just run a socket off the batteries in his jeep (I'm sure it's 12v) and hey presto he can come along and supply the Batteries at the same time!!! Now you just need to work out how to fit a game carrier to his Bonnet! LOL Cracking photo's by the way, captured the moment perfectly! they'll still be making you smile in years to come. All the Best to you and yours. Luke.

Crewkerne Lurcher & Terrier Show
bullmastiff replied to staffiedownwest's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
See you there then fella! It's a good show and I'm sure you'll meet a few other members off here. Hopefully Roo's feet will have healed by then and I can enter him in the racing. All the best Luke. -
I would just like to send a big THANK YOU!!! to Mally for the Photo's of Roo racing at the Earth Dog Running Dog show last year. Their simply amazing!!! My wife was stunned that you can get such a sharp image of an animal running at that sort of speed past you! (I guess she's used to my attempt at photography!) I hope to see you there again this year. With decent prices, perfect quality and a quick delivery I thought it worth a mention on here. Many Thanks again, Luke

Roo's knocked his toes and ripped his nails
bullmastiff replied to bullmastiff's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
Luckily the nail didn't break, it was just bleeding around the root of the nail. 6 Weeks!! that's the end of his season then! I was hoping to start the pup towards the end of April with some easy Rabbits and maybe retrieve a shot cub or two. I was hoping Roo would be able to show her the ropes but I guess I'll have to just run her on her own for now? Thank you for the advice, All the Best. Luke. -
Just a quickie, Roo damaged his nails a week and a half ago coming back after a run with the outside toe on EVERY foot bleeding! As he's never hurt his feet before so I'm just wondering how long to rest him for? I gave him a week of crate rest and on the lead exercise and his nails seemed fine. I gave him a quick easy run on Friday +(a week later) but he came back with one of the nails bleeding again. How long should I keep him on restricted exercise and crate rest?

Well that opened my eyes a bit... I don't know why but I always had visions of dog thieves scarpering when caught out? it never even crossed my mind that they might use the tool they were opening the kennels with as a weapon. Poor old fella, that must be heart breaking, having someone trying to steal your dogs and not being capable of doing anything about it.

Lietome, that looks a lot like scotsmans dog Zues in your first photo. Heres my three Pot lickers. All the Best

I should be there again (my wife will be due to drop within a month of the show so hopefully she'll hold on!!!) it's a cracking show with a real friendly atmosphere so well worth it. All the best with the prep. Luke. -
I'll be heading along again, we usually take the dogs and go on the Sunday but Roo's going to be working that weekend so I'll see what he looks like in the morning depends whether I can bring him or not. I should be able to bring Tia and the pup though. I heard there was Lure racing this year on both days? anyone know what time it starts? Look forward to seeing you guys (and girls ) again. All the best Luke.

Unfortunately we didn't. That's the main reason we walked down there, maybe one day we'll get to see the Peregrines? If I ever won the Lottery I'd be buying that house in a heartbeat!!! Any idea what film it was in?

Which Moderator for a Ruger 243
bullmastiff replied to bullmastiff's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
Thank you for your reply's, I just looked at the ASE range, and as you stated, they seem well built but pricey. Is their anything lower down the budget that is still easily strippable and work ok? He only paid £400 for the Rifle so probably won't pay £300 for a Mod. Thanks again, Luke. -
A friend of mine has just bought a Ruger .243 and is having it screw cut to take a Mod and I was wondering if you guys could recommend a few makes for him to look at? Thank you Luke.

Anubis, she's a cross between my two in the signature at the bottom of my posts so 4/8 Bullmastiff, 3/8 Grey, 1/8 Bull.

Their's some stunning pups being shown. Anubis, I love the look of that pup of yours, and the Alaunte looks good too! Here's mine, just over 6 months old now, 22" tts. Showing some real promise with her training so far.

bullmastiff replied to bullmastiff's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk

Well it's been a while since I updated this so thought it best to 'catch up' I've finally found my camera so will hopefully be able to get some decent photo's again. Titch the smallest pup finally found a home in Poole, with a lady that used to keep Neo's but gave up with them as they cost so much in vets bills! She fell for him as soon as she saw him. The Bitch pup 'Tess' we kept back is doing really well, she's currently about 22" tts. Her basic training is coming on really well and will sit, stay and recall to voice and whistle everytime now although her heel work still has a long way to -
what fox call do you use?
bullmastiff replied to langouroux's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
The main trouble with squeaking from the back of your hand is the movement of your hand from your mouth to the rifle, can be enough time for a wary fox to start moving again. It was a foxcalluk that I was using when we called those foxes in real close when I was down yours. They can work well but can be hard to blow when your biting down hard on it (to make a higher squeal). I keep meaning to buy a WAM call as these are smaller and easier to use. The guy I go shooting with uses one to good effect. -
Congratulations mate! Hope the missus is doing well.

It's a bit hard to tell at that age, once she's a bit older you'll probably have more luck in guessing but definately Bull breed in her. Good luck to the both of you and good on ya for taking her in!

I've been busy out getting more permission around my area and a lot of them were Horse breeders. Everyone I asked readily agreed to let me hunt the Rabbits and Pigeons but they all asked the same question, "Can you do moles as well?" and after a quick walk around there fields it's easy to see the problem, they seem infested with them. I was honest and explained that I usually stick to only the edible varieties of vermin or the types the dogs can sort out and that's why I do it for free. But it's got me thinking, having found a 'gap' in the market around here (although there are a several pes

Sounds like it might be Diabetes? if so then thats nothing to do with you, or the feed, it just happens sometimes. Try checking her pee for Gluecose, you can get these strips of paper from the Pharmacy for humans that work just fine on dogs. Bit nasty but try and get it 'mid stream' from her. Cheap and easy way of checking for at least one form of Diabetes, it will also check to see if her Kidneys are working properly. If nothing shows up then maybe get her to the vets for a blood test? It also sounds like you keep them in a real fit condition all the time, so try as Tomo said and add more

It's the sap from the Blackthorn that causes the swelling, so even if the thorn came out after it punctured the skin it can still swell. As long as your sure there's nothing left in the skin then just time will bring the swelling down. You can ease it a bit as stated above but the main thing is ensuring the whole thorn is removed otherwise it can get worse.

Getting a guard dog is easy, finding one that suits you is the hard bit! A lot here have stated a GSD or Malinios would be good but that depends entirely on your circumstances. A MUST-HAVE for any guard dog is the look. You don't want it for true 'man work' so as long as it looks big and nasty then thats usually all you need. Anything more than that and you'll be having your dog PTS for attacking someone. When I was looking for a guard dog for the wife whilst I was away working, I drew up a list of qualities we wanted the dog to have, from Must-haves to would-like. Then I got on the inte

Try 'Doghouse' with Danny Dyer, it's so ridiculus it's funny as f*ck! but don't buy it, just borrow a copy or download it. Worth a watch just to see Danny get his fingers bitten off by a loved up, fat, zombie!
