With shotguns it's fine, as long as their supervised by the cert holder. I don't know about firearms though? sorry

It sounds more like fear/nervousness than a dominance issue? You need to speak to a decent trainer not a vet. There's several things it could be down to. Usually when a dog is growling through dominance it will stay still, raising it's chin or turning it's head sideways watching through the corner of it's eye. it should of shown several warning signs before it has to resort to growling to reinforce it's dominance. Averting it's eye's (bowing it's head), nervous movements, shaking, are all signs of fear/anxiety NOT dominance. Is she ok in the car? travelling etc.? could be she feels a

Titch (the runt) is still for sale, having his last injection on Sat 21st. He's turning into a cracking little dog and will make a great dog for the right person. -

Congratulations mate! as you know, what I know about rifles you could put on a stamp, so as long as it put a hole in the correct spot on a deer then jobs a good'un! Hope your both keeping well. All the best Luke. -
I'll echo everyone else in saying their the best money can buy. Had Tia's 2" reflective collar for a few years now and it's taken some major stick. The only damage to it is the reflective strip has been ripped but the collar itself hasn't even dropped a thread or stitch. I was so impressed I bought the 1 3/4" for Roo. I'll also say Strong Stuff seems a real decent guy considering he's from Nania.

shes 4 and she is working perfect on things i cant say and foxes rabbits and hares Up in Donegal on things you can't say? f**k me! If it's what I think you're on about and you're not bullshittin that's some dog I doubt if your thinking the same quarry as him! no matter how big, strong and game a dog is, their's very few occasion's that they get away without being cut, and none that do it regularly and her face isn't marked enough for that type of work. Sean's probably on about the longer legged variety of quarry.

Thank you for putting that up, was a cracking fight to watch.

I've always used a red filter for spotting, the eyes stand out much better, then swing it out the way once the dogs on. It's easier to watch the action with white light.

I never really saw the point in buying a Barbour always thought cheaper Wax Jackets were just as good.... until I got bought one. I won't be going back! Extremely hard wearing, Waterproof and it's only about £30 for a full service on it (reproofing, sew up small tears etc.) Bad points are they can get bloody heavy when wet, if you get a longer version (just above your knees) the zip can rip out of the bottom seam. My mate has a Ram jacket which he rates very highly for mooching about but once the weather turns bad his old Barbour is dug out of the cupboard again. If you can afford it, w

I know theirs a lad that goes on the Working Terrier section that's Italian I can't remember his name though , might be worth posting in that section to see if he reply's?

Maybe because using white light at close range washes the colour out of everything? so it can't spot the Rabbit properly but using a Red filter dulls the surrounding light down but still iluminates the eyes? Just a guess though?

Advocate contains Advantage to treat the skin but also contains Moxidectin, which treats most worms. It isn't that much more expensive than advantage but you don't need to buy wormer's as well. It recommends on the Advocate packet to apply monthly but I only do it every three month's. It also treats Heart, Hook and Round worm. As already stated, Hibiscrub is good stuff. You mix it with water (about 3:1 I think) and use it as an antibacterial wash.(cotton wool ball and wipe the area/wound clean) Malaseb is a Shampoo, again very good for bacterial/fungal/mite skin conditions but I don'

Look's like you had a cracking time Wag! and good on Sounder and friends for making you so welcome Looks like a top week and they showed you a bit of everything? Just noticed from the photo's, your left handed but using a right handed semi-auto. How did you get on with it? was it OK to shoot? All the best Luke. P.S. I haven't forgotten about the trip up to you, it's just the Firearms Officer still hasn't been round yet I tried calling but got no reply, left message's etc then sent them an email, which they finally replied to, said their very busy at the moment and it could be up

What to do with cuts?
bullmastiff replied to spiritofold's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
Superglue, actually called cyanoacrylate (like Cigerette rolling papers get called Rizla's) was originally formulated by a Vietnam medical officer, to glue the GI's guts back in, when out in the Jungle. That's why it stick's skin to skin quite so well. So will work fine on most wounds. You've got to watch what glue you use though, although all Cyanoacrylates will bond skin, some can cause irritation (in some cases severe) to the wound/skin so the dog will chew at it. 2-octyl-cyanoacrylate is the correct Human medical grade, you can only get this on prescription. Easier to get is n-butyl -
This is going to get me wound up I can tell. People getting dogs to 'better their lives' I was depressed so I got a pup, We couldn't afford another child so we got a pup. Feck sake. That guy hasn't even got his pups injections "coz it's like 30 pand or sumfink, I can't afford that, but I don't want to lower myself to a normal job so I'm waiting for a job [bANNED TEXT] prospects" Fecking idiots the lot of em..

As much as you can squeeze into the little fella! If you can squirt it from the teat then there must be a lot there so should take a lot of work on the pups part to get milk, try keeping the rest out of the way and putting the teat in it's mouth? Hopefully it will start to suckle. Our Runt was the same and we didn't think he would make it, but we kept moving the others away every few hours so he could feed on his own. Once it started to suckle it just a case of keeping the rest on other teats so it could feed in peace. We had to keep putting him on the teat for about a month on his own when t

Looks like he popped the handbrake to me!!! only skid marks (in the grass) are from the rear wheels? bloody lucky either way.

Some stunning photo's, thanks for sharing them. Looks like it was a good day out.

Totally agree CP, It would be a sad day if lost 'Johnny forgiener' from the site!!! I love reading/seeing how other countries take their quarry. I've now hunted in a few differant countries after some varied quarry and loved every minute of it. Keeping your mouth shut and your eyes open, you can often learn a lot from their hunting styles and hopefully they might learn a bit from your experiences? I'm going to be traveling to Georgia USA, for work some time next year so will be trying to arrange some hunting whilst I'm there. I heard the Quail hunting is supposed to be exceptional! and

Found out whats wrong with Tia today. :(
bullmastiff replied to bullmastiff's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
Thank you all for the comments, Shell I just wish I could find a decent home for Titch. Lot's of lads around town wanted to take him on but their just after a Chav dog to look hard. I'm trying to find him a home with either someone who has experience with working dogs or with Large breeds. A.F.T - Check out some of Bud9 or Scotsman's posts and pics. I believe this breeding is what they call Alaunts? they look a spitting image of them when young. All the Best Luke. -
Give her a treatment of Advocate. It's a flea and tick spot on treatment, but also treats skin mites and Fungul Bacterias. Brilliant stuff! will even treat mange.

Sorry for such a long wait... I couldn't find my own topic! Pups are doing really well, 'Zia' (The small female) as my cousin called her, went up to London as a guard/protection dog. The Big boy (largest male) went to 'The Owl' off this site for his missus and hopefully a bit of work when he's older, 'Spike' went to a friend of my wife's as a guard dog for the Kennel she works at. We kept 'Tess' (the Largest Female) and we've still got the Runt, now called Titch poor little fella! Their manic, intelligent to the point of annoying and cute as could be!!! They both consistantly 'Sit', 'Stay' -
I think the Deerhound was bred to tackle Red deer on the Scottish moors(long legs to clear the heather, endurance and a large dose of weight which was usually carried in a sack between their legs ) I believe they were also historically run in pairs against Stags??? I would of thought they would probably struggle to catch a Roe breaking cover and running a smallish field??? I would of thought that differant breeds would be better at differant Deer? I don't doubt a few dogs can do all species but I would think they were in the minority? One that had the speed/agility to take a Roe or Mu
