  1. Almost looks like an old style Great Dane lol! It's got good feet on it!
  2. Strongstuff collars are just as the name imply's and are made for strong dogs (typically Bull/Wheaton or Deer crosses) that can pull/snatch at the first sign of game at the end of the beam. They are made from the same material as seatbelts and are probably strong enough to tow your car with! so put up with the strain of an eager dog a lot better then Leather ever could. Leather collars will usually give out as the 'D' ring is constantly being snatched against the leather. I have one for Roo and can highly recommend them. These can be a bit large/stiff on some slighter sized Lurchers so check
  3. Most people are used to owning and seeing fat Labs and barrel shaped Terriers so when they see a dog with a waist they worry and if they see a rib they panic! I think most people that own not just Lurchers but any working dog will of had comments about their dog being thin. Don't worry about it. As long as the dog's happy, lively and active then I wouldn't worry too much.
  4. This is the page for Americana My Americana newest podcast is from the 25th so I guess it hasn't been posted yet?
  5. Lmao! I presume you get quite a lot of success with that one eh?
  6. Apart from the fact they look like they've had a tin of red paint thrown at them after a bit of work, then I think I'd prefer a white dog in some ways, Brindle's a bugger to see on the lamp past 150-200yds! You going to be racing him too?
  7. As long as the racing's finished by then! lol last time I had to get Roo straight on a lead after his race and into the BullX ring! lol Judge must of thought something strange was going on when I walked into the ring with the dog trying to get his tongue back in his head!
  8. Cheers, going to take her out again tonight on her own see if I can find her another 'green' young'un out in the field.
  9. Tell me about it! my heart was bursting out my chest! must of looked like a right plank on my knees with arms wide as Tess brought it back! lol!
  10. I haven't posted for a while but thought I'd share this with you guys, I told the missus and I just got "oh thats nice" Went out last night with a mate for a look about, he had his rifle and I took the dogs along, took Tess out for the first time on the lamp just to watch Roo working and get her to see what the craic is. Roo had a couple of quick runs off the back of the truck, and had two big plump young bunnies in the bag in as many minutes, Tess had stood on the back of the truck watching him running about and was showing real interest, but held her back just to watch the action. Ha
  11. I wouldn't mind seeing a few other Bull's work. I have only one friend that runs a Bullx but it's still a young'un, so I have nothing to compare mine to? would be good to meet up and see some others work.
  12. Thank you Gav Thats right! thank you, I was one of three guys stood together with the bullcrosses (In the beat up Barbour). I was swopping between her and Roo. Congratulations mate!!!! I know you've been after it for a while. Maybe once little'un is a few month's old we'll come down for a visit. All the best
  13. Hopefully by Sept-Oct I'll be back at it and get some photo's up of her working, hopefully in Europe too, a good friend of mine is going to try and arrange a long weekend to test her a bit. Running her in the Boar hunts and getting us on a few of their digs. I couldn't go this season because we've been having so many family troubles so all trips away were called off. Lets hope for a better year eh! Rob, Thank you and sorry for taking so long to reply back, it's a stunning offer and would love to but as above, everythings on hold for now. I'll phone you. All the best Luke.
  14. Thank you! if nothing else I'll work her to the gun, her retrieve is very good so far, I'm working on blind retrieves at the moment and she's picked it up just as quick as everything else. Both parents work to some degree so theres no reason she shouldn't have it in her to do well. Thanks again for the comments everyone. All The Best.
  15. Try this, it's the Nº for the Secretary of the Blackmore and Sparkford Vale hunt 01935 872379 She should be able to help.

    ITS A GIRL

Congratulations fella, Now the hard work starts!!! boys are easy in comparison! Girls are stroppy teenagers by the time their 5!!!! All the best to you and yours. Luke.
  17. Part two just as funny! I was laughing so hard I woke my daughter up!!!
  18. Thank you Guys and Gals! Bird, it was an accidental mating, by the time we realised Tia was pregnant it was too late. I was looking at getting a replacement for Tia soon anyway so kept one of the pups to try out. I hope she pulls her weight and takes to work but if not then she'll just be a pet and I'll go for a decent bred halfcross. ATB
  19. Cheers fella, it was funny watching their faces as she retrieved the Lure back to hand! I guess their whippet's don't do that usually! and she was faster at getting it back than that kid on the motorbike!!!
  20. I really don't know! The only thing she's struck at is a Tennis ball! her speeds not too bad and a lot better than I expected. Her main job will be running on behind Roo and helping finish certain arguements quicker, so speed isn't really required. The Farmer is pushing to get her working them already and wasn't happy when I told him it'll probably be another 12 month's until she can do that.
  21. Are you Transgender? nowt against it, just asking is all!
  22. I've been off work this week preparing for my second child to be born so have finally managed to get out with a camera and get some snaps of the pup. Not everyone's cup of tea I know but for those that were interested. She's coming on with her training well, with her retrieve being much better than I expected. I haven't done any work with her at all as she's still far too puppish (she's still chasing crows and rooks across the field! She's 9 month's old now and about 23-24"tts. Her litter brother has gone more towards the Bull breed side and is turning into wha
  23. Some of us can't, they have ferals on one of the farms I hunt that regularly need removing, I'm expected to be able to control them. Using the dogs to either tree them where they can be shot, or catching and killing them. Unfortunately the dogs can't tell the differance between a pet and a feral. Your right Hollie, it's surprising how much damage they could do if not dealt with quickly
  24. This was posted on the other slow cooker Topic. http://www.50plusfriends.com/cookbook/crockpot/index-5b.html Seems to have a huge amount of recipes to try. (The Yanks call them Crock pots) As for cooking times, thats the great thing about slow cookers, you just leave them running all day. I like to prepare all the ingredients the night before, throw it all in the removable pot and pop it in the fridge overnight, then just turn it on Auto when you leave for work in the morning. Dinner will be ready when you get home! You can cook it for 4 hours or even 12 hours, theres no time limit real
