I thought i was going to see a hind calving today,she was as fat as a barrel and agitated,popped up out of a sea of fern and then settled down again when I passed. -
That's a pike,I am on about Salmon and trout,I would never have netted pike,I have had loads but they aren't in the same league as a fresh run salmon.

I used to get a lot of salmon and trout by fair means but mostly foul as a kid,cast nets,gaffs,electrofishing,I was always very inventive as the goal was always results,I fished for fish,not to try and catch them.But the biggest thrill nowadays is to hook a decent fish and have it take you down a couple of pools on a tight line,but I do sometimes miss the old days.

I will indeed,there’s a few skeletons in the UK but only one wet specimen and that’s for research purposes.

Ah,I do apologise,I just assumed when you said you “done” her i took it literally. I didn’t realise they were that big,there’s an African pest controller on YouTube shoots them with thermal,they are huge.
