  1. Nice fat little bucker that on Archie Very nice shot. Mrs G's daughter purchased one of those 2 years back, it was on my permission for two months and I never even thought about taking a pic of it Your images tell a nice little story on their own Tony
  2. You sure about the weights Mike? I've been using AAF's in .22 and they are 15.9grain The CPUM's also in .22 are 14.3grain And as such are lighter than the AA's Tony
  3. The RWS HP's are designed for close-medium range hunting (up to 20 yards) At 30 yards you will notice the differance AAF's are a superb all founder in most rifles and I have been using them for years as well as FX pellets (slightly cheaper) This week I have been using the CPUM's as my usual RFD has moved and they were the only decent name in the shop on the fishing tackle shop. I have been exceptionally suprised by these 8mm wide one hole grouping at 30 yards! Well Chuffed especially as these are cheaper than the FX Tony
  4. I only clean the barrel when my accuracy begins to tail off, matters not what brand of pellets I am using! For example, why would I clean the barrel if I'm getting one hole groups with 10 Bisley Magnums at 30 yards, then change to JSB Baracuda's? Bothe pellets off the same Die from the same lead wire, polished to the same standard and have the same dia/BC and weight, but not the same brand name? I've recently changed from using FX and AAF's to Crosman Premiers (both Ultra Magnums and Hollowpoints), got superb grouping (sub 8mm @30 yards with 5 pellets) yet I'd not cleaned the barrel i
  5. Come to think of it Mike, was about 30 years since I was last on the NCofC and a freaking lesser Weaver put me in Penzance Hospital after I got the fecker off the cliffes in Hayle! lil b@stard!
  6. Not been to Liskeard in best part of 20+ years Mike, 14 years since last in Falmouth (my UK spiritual home).
  7. Woody steaks! (or breasts) Droooooooooling! ShluuuuurrrrrP!
  8. Bronze is much softer than the steel, scrub it with the bronze, thread some fishing line/nylon or even a strong cotton from the muzzle to the breach tie a strip of baby wipe to the end and pull back through, repeat until babywipe is clean. H O W E V E R ! ! ! Don't bother cleaning between each brand of pellet! Only clean when your groups begin to open up or become erratic! Tony
  9. I have had a few Craig! My 1st scope on re-entry was a Bisley 4x40 with a 30/30 ret. Fantastically clear image and is what took my first bunnies (as well as mice). Later I swapped to a 4-9x40 mildot (SMK) it was grate until the top end mag when the image became "milky" My 3rd scope upon re-enering shooting was a huge heavy 50/60mm glass AO with a widescreen tv 30/30 ret. Blooming great scope on the pod, but free hand, jeezzzz it was heavy! 3 to 9 mag. Non coated but AO. After clearing a neighbours son's garden in another village I was paid with enough brass (not that I expected
  10. My (current) glasses are four years old now and when I say Woodworm saw bunnies that I could only see through the scope, I wasn't joking Luckily I have booked an eye test for next Tuesday so hopefully once I have the contacts fitted, my eyesight will be back to normalish! Two yars ago I could see the cottontails and ears of thoe buggers without straining, yesterday just said my eyes a re fecked! I did try a "Long Shot" yesterday the sidefocus of the MK4 said 90 yards, my eye told me 80ish yards. So when the wind was almost non existant I aimed (at 3.5 mag) halfway down the post of the
  11. I didn't know Trago was still on the go these day's, last one of their store I visited was about 14 years ago in Falmouth, a few hundred yards (if that) from Custom House Quay. Tony ps any manufactured band (especially the boy puff bads are faif game cut out wise) although Bucks Fizz are out as I fanciy Jay Aston summat chronic, ohhhhh what I could do to her
  12. Oiy, you advertised it yesterday you fibber you! Not a bad price though guy's n doll's I could have done with it last week but I got the pump serviced Tony
  13. Hi, I am new to air rifle hunting and to this forum, can you point me to the thead on UV pens, can't find it.john Welcome to the good ship THL John Done a little searching through the archives for you and this is one thread I remember posting on http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/160852-woody/ Tony
  14. Yesterday I had the great pleasure of meeting Woodworm1972, a new shooter who has had a little instruction from the good guy's at H&DHFTC on the indoor range. Now Woodworm, was a little bit 'unsure' of the "Hunting" aspect; but certainly see's the need for control of certain species and was indeed willing to give it a go at doing so especially after seeing in person the damage in my Cemetery permission! added to that, he was brought up on a farm so understands the problems and cost of crop damage associated with certain vermin species Woodworm picked me up from my apartment and w
  15. Hi there, You say your new to it all? The Edgar Bothers are a good intro to shooting, the trigger may be a little "graunchy, tough, agricultural" but over all a decent entry level rifle. I agree with Mike on the pellets, AAF's are a decent all round pellet, I've also used Bisley, FX, RWS etc and yesterday I tried Crosman Premier Ultra Mag's and Crosman Premier Hollow Points. The grouping was excellent with both once I was in the sweetspot of the S200. First thing to do is get yourself some paper/card targets and learn how to shoot at various ranges before setting out after quarry
  16. Welcome Gerbil, The early SMK rifles were absolute sh!te Ive seen the old barrels with the hole of the bore set off to the sise  Then for some reason (just as the old 'Jap Crap' motors did) the quality of the guns that the Chinese were producing suddenly skyrocketed and from the level of the QB's and XS's the rifles became very much value for money guns I've not had experiance of the model you have ordered so I assume its a fairly new model and it will very likely be a great intro gun to shooting and more than capable of shooting all UK vermin/pests. The first thing thoug
  17. Gutted for you! If it needs repairing commercially then the bill goes to him I've had similar before, luckilly not with my guns though. While I remember did I reply to that PM? I cant remember Tony
  18. Last time I saw them in a shop they were about a tenner for a couple of hundred, perhaps they are now more widely availabl and prices begining to fall, but until they cost less than these Crosman Premier in .22 (£8 for 500) I'll stick to lead Mike
  19. Being the 'Operative' word on three of my permissions I have the "A63" arterial road from/to Hull. I often shoot towards it and pretty much within 100 yards of it. As I mentioned on the earlier post re the Corvids, I couldn't get a shot off because I wasnt lined up with any of the backstops (mainly large fence posts), but also a good deep embankment (on one perm) and large concrete blocks on another. With the blocks though I have to keep an eye out for pedestrians (namely schoolies) as the foot path is between the paddock and the blocks, so at certain times of the day, shooting in that di
  20. First time I tried a slit bunny, they just wouldn't entertain it at all in the middle of the paddock. Put it near the road however! They flocked to it but I made the mistake of positioning myself without a fence post for a backstop behind the bunny! So the whiley feckers got a feast and I couldnt get a shot off!
  21. Often wondered if the size of the di... OWL made much differance! Seems the bigger the better!
  22. Sounds about right bud I only know two airgunners who could drop more than a couple in one sitting! And NO I aint one of them the lil beggers always get the better of me
  23. I even tried the "Cracked Egg" approach, with no joy!
  24. Did the same here buddy! Even got me an ACME Crow call, the b@sturds argue like feck with the call but don't land The only thing I've managed to get em with was a split dead bunny! The Corvid family are very wiley and extreamly smart arse little buggers too They are the only avian species to be able to craft and use tools to help them obtain food! Clever and infuriating lil b's Tony
  25. The tin ones do appear to favour the pcp's and appear to be pretty accurate in many of the pistols and rifles I've tried them in, but to be honest, they would have to seriously reduce the price of them before I buy a full pack of em. I wouldn't dream of soiling my beloved rifles with the plazzy ones though! For now, Pb rules the roost for paper, metal and quarry
