credit where credit is due... amazing shot mate respect Understatement I've seen and filmed some of Si's shots myself If they were shown, people just wouldn't believe they were possible!, Jeez we got enough stick when I was filming at the target end!! Comments like "Why would anyone be stupid enough to stand in the path of the pellet blah blah blah!!" The fact that the pellets struck the target, without having to punch a hole through me proved that I wasn't in the path Yes I was close, and the camera angles made it look 'very' tight, but if I didn't have confidance in Si's

Plastic pellets?!
Phantom replied to Skot Ruthless Teale's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Before I was given a NATO cleaning snake I used to use a piece of fishing line and a baby wipe! Amazing how much crap can actually accumulate in a barrel Now I use the babywipe after the scrubbing of the brush on the snake. -
Plastic pellets?!
Phantom replied to Skot Ruthless Teale's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
THROW THE FECKING THINGS AWAY QUICK! Seriously I had them "Recomended" to me by Old Man Hutcinson for my low power co2 pistols! Even at the low velocity these pistols chuck out the pellets, the plastic/polythene melted to the rifling (co2 freezes as it vapourises), after the 1st shot I could see strings of ultrafine black polymer puffing from the barrel! Took me a bronze brush to get the sh!te off the lands and groves! I made the foolish mistake of firing all 8 shots from the clip! That was/is my ONLY TOTAL MUPPET moment!! Use them at your own risk! The flat headed ones are -
Hello from Pianoman to my great friends here.
Phantom replied to pianoman's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Airguns should be banned...? Who the bloody hell is this on an airgun forum? Something I've missed in my prolonged absence??? Simon Oh they've been poppin up everywhere Simon, they are either just plain stupid or just plain warped in the noggin. I mean come on an anti on a gun forum or a vegie on a hunting forum, do these people think they are going to get cheer's and friends for life Tony -
Not your rifle buddy, you as mentioned elsewhere, the weak link (apart from early B2's and the like) is always the shooter There are also many other variables to the equation! Air resistance (atmospheric pressure), humidity, wind, the surface of the pellet, daytime/nighttime temperatures etc.... Thats why you need to learn your ability to shoot under differing conditions. It can actually take a lot less than that to kill a rabbit, if if you can deliver point four of a ft/lb of energy to the correct part of the nervous system, according to the scientists (the Cerebellum or 'little brain' the bit that keeps the heart/lungs etc functioning) the bunny will roll over and croak immediately. Of course that little energy at the front or top of the head will do little more than give bug's a bump on the bonce and a bit of a headache! Tony

When we meet up Chris (will reply to your pm you shortly) I shall show you how to modify the mod so that it becomes very quiet indeed. My S200 without the mod (in my appartment) just about takes your hearing out, fit the mod and it's soooo much quieter, (especially with the extra bits and pieces inside) and when there is a pellet fired, all you hear really is the 'tink' of the action and the crack of the skull as the lead goes through it. Days Rat shooting deep in the wilds..... with two top lads!!!
Phantom replied to Elmer_Fudd's topic in Airgun Hunting
Long range Not a problem for some, Si and Davy are both very good shooters, Darryl (if I remember correctly) smashed a small chicken egg at 100 yards at the last meet In fact there were a couple who did it were there not? If that had been a bunny, it would indeed be dead my 10.5 ft/lbs springer is capable of delivering a pellet over 400 yards! Not that any of us would try that on quarry like! (don't think anyone (even the div's) are that stupid). As Davy mentioned people who can pull of long range kills are slated by those who can't or those who have read the "Word of Law" that the ra -

Corvids are the smart arses of the avian world

Woodies are also not smart, in fact they are extreamly dumb! They do however see in the ultraviolate spectrum and the human skin reflects UV very very well If you move and your skin is not covered, they will see it as movement and do what most wild birds and animals do, run/fly for their life. You can use a UV pen however to bring woodies to you do a search and I tell you how in a thread posted a long time ago Tony

to answer your question ben i only go for a head or kneck shot, woodys have a keen eye so its best to get yourself well hidden and only make slow movements keeping your face and hands coverd dont be in a rush to take the first bird that lands if its not a good clear shot as it will bring other birds in. the best time i find is a hour before dark but get yourself in positoin a couple of hours before dark and learn the limits of your gun and skills you will see alot of videos of 50yrd plus shot but you will never see the faild shot videos and anyone who is taking long shots with a sub 12 and sa

Excellent write up gent's and a fecking awsome tally Ratting is frast and furious aint it Si and Davy are great blokes, two of the nicest I've ever had to the pleasure to meet and shoot with. Looking forward to meeting you soon Gaz I'm hoping to take a reletive newbie out for some shooting on at least two of my perms in the very near future as well. Tony -
Never shoot into the front chest area of an adult woody thats just plain irresponsible. Behind that huge mass of muscle is a breastbone shaped somewhat like a shield and it boody well acts like one as well. The strongest bone in it's body. Upper neck, head, just behind and low of where the wing meets the body, or as Duncan said from behind into the chest. Will all produce a good clean kill. Tony

Had my 1st in a while the other night, damn it feels good to be back out there again doesn't it Tony

I have a SMK XS19 and it's a lovely springer, taken many rabits with it. The thing with the SMK, especially the early models (such as the B2) is that they are seriously rough on the intenals, crap springs, lousey in machining tollerances and trust me, no matter what you do to the B2 you will not get that rifle to shoot straight I refurbed a B2 a while back made it as accurate as I could and I could just about get a group into an inch at 6 yards, out in the field I could barely hit a 5 inch target card at 25 yards let alone get a group of an inch. Scott mentioned the £100 cheap bollox, f

Nice to see your on the up Simon I think I speak for many when I say that we have missed your input greatly and we are all looking forward to your write-ups again. Good to have you back, even better when your back 'properly' Take care Tony -
You would probably get a lot more than the £90 if I'm honest I was just trying my luck I'd not offer more but only cuz I don't have the money to Once you get the hang of open sights, you will see why pistol shooting is such fun Tony
-
I'd offer you double that just for the pleasure of owning a childhood pistol again As for the work, you would be looking at not much change if any for a something upwards of £150 maybe more. Tony
