  1. Hi donnyman, First may I just say you have my sympathy, living in Donny as you do Only joking, I'm having a really bad day got up at 07:00 to go shooting for the full day and the weather looked sorted for it  Then I wound up tending to my grandaughter (who stayed with us last night) till the wife got out of bed, by which time I'd made her coffee, I then opened the post to find some bad news, then the wife wanted me to go to the shops with her, wich I dutifully did, when the girl asked for payment I realised I'd left my fecking wallet at home, went home, got wallet, back to shop
  2. Hey guy's, Weather was good yesterday so in the afternoon I grabbed my gear and went off for a spot of Maggie mugging and Crow capping I got to the paddock and luckily I had taken my portable pellet catcher and zero cards because I had left my tin of AA Fields at home I had some Milborough Caledonion pellets in a tic-tac box (they aint any good for shooting quarry but they make an effective maggie rattle ) and I remembered I had a couple of hundred FX pellets in a pouch in the front of the bag from my last foray with the beast PHEW!! Set up my zero card and catcher, got my b
  3. Hi Dave, Child Cruelty or what? Seriously Well done that man old school treatment works far better than a caution or asbo Anyone who wants to slate you for speaking like that would probably be the people who should not be allowed access to airguns in the first place. Phantom
  4. Because the polititions want the public votes. Thanks to the idiots such as the ones that lost their grip on reality in Hungerford and Dunblane. These events drove fear into the hearts and minds of the general public and as such a few people made a huge fuss and got automatic weapons banned and then they banned legally held handguns after the Dunblane incident. Then of course there are the idiots who use airguns irresponsibly, people who think its fun (because they don't have two brain cells to rub together) to shoot at anything and everything; including people and their neighbours pe
  5. I'd have to disagree with part (just a little part!) of what you say there Stevie and no I'm not looking for an argument When looking through your scope, to get a correct sight picture the scope must be level. Therefore the barrel is on a slight incline and as the pellet leaves the barrel it is following the incline of the barrel; therefore it is clearly rising, until the speed of the pellet (if you want to get into physics this is called its escape velocity and has nothing to do with its escape from the barrel) slows enough to allow gravity to bring it back down. Yes gravity acts on
  6. Excellent as always buddy Your making me so green with envy, the weathers been so crap over here of late, even when its not been slinging it down with the wet stuff, its been thick fog :wallbash: Just seen the forcast for tomorrow and its looking almost decent for the daytime. Problem is I have to babysit out grandaughter. Maybe I can get my ass out of bed and down the paddock before sun up? I'll try but no promisses Desperate to drop a bunny or two again. Hey I even managed to lay my grubby mits on a Crow deek today showed it to my budgie, he went mental and attacked
  7. Si, I wasn't having a go about your shooting bud I've not seen any squizzer drop and stay dropped, thats why I asked if it was a squizzer version of the death boogie like a bunny does with its legs. I've heard from many people that they are hard little feckers and I cant wait to get my first. I'd always put it down to less than perfect shot placement until I saw the close-up of you holding the squizzers and I could clearly see the shot placement was deffinately perfectly spot on TBH I wish my shooting was up to your standard. I'm most impressed with your shooting accurac
  8. Hi Connor, Its all down to personal choice/preference. Any calibre will do the biz However, there are a great deal less variety pellets in .20 cal and .25 cal. I also think the (lesser used cal of .20 and .25) are more expensive. .22 and .177 in the UK are the two that have been and will continue to be the staple choice for the airgun shooters Phantom
  9. Not shot the Ultra (YET!) But I do love my Bunny Sniping Baby (even though she is but ugly) I've missed very few bunnies with my S200 in .22 For me, (well until I can afford another PCP) there will be no other! (apart from my springer, also in .22). Phantom
  10. I signed this on its first day up (long time ago) I cant believe that there are still less than 4500 sigs on it Would have thought that given the fact that there are over 50,000 airgun shooters in the uk, there would be more sigs on it by now. Come on people, get off the fence and act. Its not that hard to do honestly. Phantom
  11. Hi Jack, ( try saying Hi Jack to your mate when flying abroad, they really don't like people being friendly to Jack at 30,000 feet ) First of all , how old are you? If you are under 14 (yep just checked!), you must be supervised by an adult aged 21 or over even on private land where you have permission and that includes your back garden. Phantom
  12. Even with a sub 12 a .22 has the potential to travel hundreds of yards before air resistance, gravity and loss of velocity take their toll on the pellet and it comes to a stop. How far it will travel before it begins its fall will; as said; be dictated by weight, speed, shape and most importantly the Zero of the combination (scope and gun). Over a normal range ie 30 yards (using my S200 and AA Field's in .22) shown in the 1st image, will hit the 1 inch kill zone as it goes from 5.9 yards to 13.5 yards then the pellet leaves the kill zone and continues to climb until it reaches 19.5 yar
  13. Nice shooting gents Si, those tree rats seem to go down stone cold then come back to life. Looking at the superb shot placement on them, I am assuming the tail flicking is the squzzer version of a bunnies leg kicking dance routine? Phantom
  14. Dunno how this one slipped past me Lovely write up buddy and well done on the Woodcock. I don't think I've ever seen one. How much will it cost roughly to have it stuffed? I've got a load of info on Taxidermy and one day I'm gonna have a go at doing it. There is a guy on ebay that flogs the chemicals for preserving the skin and feathers, but buying the forms for stuffing the animal and then the eyes are fairly costly. Excellent shooting Phantom
  15. Excellent Pigeon Poppin Festa I'm still to drop my 1st Were they all taken indoors? They look Ferral rather than Woody? Phantom
  16. I could have done that, but knowing my memory, I'd have forgotten there would still be one up the pipe and put a second pellet in My main reason though was to let the police know it was in a safe state IE uncocked and unloaded. Phantom
  17. WT, must have posted about the same time. I replied just before you Phantom
  18. Thanks for the replies guy's Heres how it went. I lowered the gun and stood up fairly slow. I began walking to the gate as I got to within 30 yards I shouted "I wondered when you guy's would take the time out to come and visit me. Do you mind if I just discharge this into the ground, I dont want any accidents" With the street lights and the blue flashes behind the figure I couldn't make out what the officer was holding, but I did notice there were no red dots on any part of my upper torso The reply was in the form of a female voice "Yes, please do" she said. So I held the gun ou
  19. Imagine the scene:---- Its dark, its very cloudy, you've been out on your permission for an hour or so and you've already missed 2 bunnies. While gently swinging your gun around the field, a pair of jewels are illuminated by your scope mounted torch and they are moving across the field about 50 yards from you. You make your way slowly across the field, there is no cover at all and you have street lights behind you. As you get to within range you kneel down for a nice steady shot. Behind you at the entrance to the field, you hear a car, a quick glance back reveals a white car sl
  20. Nice shooting Not a bad shot with the rifle either Seriously well done on knocking over the woody over with surgical placement Phantom
  21. You said it buddy Not trying to ruin the thread and yes I agree it would be 'memorable' but that is surely ammo for the antie's? You not only had a witness to the 'cracking shot' , you were very lucky! Your witness would have made an excellent witness for the Crown Prosecution Service that could put you away for the mandatory minimun term. In the spirit of of this thread, please put up your memorable shots but please make sure you use some common sense and dont put up stuff that shows the rest of us law abiding shooters in a bad light! Phantom
  22. Nice shooting lads At least you got to see some, I went out to the paddock last night where there are hundreds of the feckers, I got myself hidden behind the caravan and didn't see one single bunny in the three hours I was there! Before I left, I had a wander around the graveyard, fresh diggins all over but not a single coney I came home very disheartened, then the heavens opened and didn't stop p!ssing it down all night seems they can predict the weather better than I can Its now dry but very cloudy, the wind has dropped so I'm gonna try again tonight I'm looking to
  23. Here's a couple of thoughts. Do 'other compressed gasses' expand at the same rate as air? if they expand slower than air then they would surely reduce the velocity at which the pellet moves? If they expand faster, then an increase in velocity would ensue thus making a sub 12 air gun a possible FAC rated gun? But my initial thoughts are along the same reasons that you used to require a FAC for a Umarex, Crosman, Gamo etc co2 powered pistol. Even though most of these produced sub 2ft/lbs at the muzzle. Co2 powered pistols/rifles expelled their gas from the muzzle and I seem to rememb
  24. I thought our local RFD's were expensive I like the idea of that clamp though, have to see if I can find something similar, cheers Davy Phantom
