  1. Most new builds use micro bore now. Why do you want to change yours? Is there something your not happy with?
  2. I would say most of the well known stud dogs are producing, as the lads wouldn't be using them. Obviously some are quite typey, as in some throw fast types, others through stayers, some always throw a wooly coat etc. at the end of the day there are risks of any pup turning out shite, but if you use a tried and tested bloodline you've rolled the dice in your favour.
  3. I can see both sides. If you've never seen people do it, it might seem like an impossible task, especially if it's backed under a tree root or such like. I've been out with plenty of lads and I've rarely see them been handled. Most despatch in the hole.
  4. All off the above dogs have good blood lines. Just pick one and use it. If your after 'best dog in the country' then there is no such thing. But there are lots of good lines and lots of good stud dogs.
  5. FTBBTH.... Your lawn is like a bowling green, lol. Nice set up.
  6. When I built my first run I made the run area to large and the sleeping area to small. They don't play in the run so an oversized run is wasted space. They only piss in one corner and lay in the sun in the other. When I eventually had 3 lurchers and they wanted their own sleeping space, I didn't have the room in the sleeping compartment to separate them. Where I live now I've made there sleeping compartments out of ply wood, with heat lamps, in the back of my garage. I've cut a hole in the wall with a stil saw and got a galv section run on a concrete base with a roof on. Just be aware of the s
  7. I just hold the lead in my hands and ride one handed. If I needed to, I'd just let go of the leads. My 2 run just fine along side the bike and they soon get the hang of things. After about a week they learn which tree your gonna stop next to so they can piss, cats are out of bounds and don't try and sniff the front wheel lol.
  8. How will yours be bred?? Lad dog/bitch put to what mate?
  9. What I'm saying is, my mate has a cracking back lab bitch. Lean and works like a springer. I'd put my lurcher dog over her in a flash. If a pup took my fancy I'd say it would make a cracking lurcher. But would I let him put his male lab over my coursing bitch, and be stuck with a dozen lab Xs....no chance!
  10. Most of the best labs I've seen, and it's only my opinion, have been bitchs. They are offen leaner and more suitable to the lurcher game, but you try getting a shooter to let your unruly flea bitten mut, line his pride and joy....as apposed to giving him a few quid for his clody, head strong over size lab to line your lean mean killing machine. Catch my drift.
  11. She was on the voice at the weekend.
  12. If your only hunting patches of cover and dyke bottoms, then one dog is perfect. If your hunting woods of say a few acres then obviously one dogs will have it's hands full.
  13. I do it probally every other night. I'd sooner bike them for an hour than walk for an hour. I only have to bike about 1/4 mile before I get to a place where I can let them off.
  14. Shoot them in the hole. No chance of dropping them in front of the game keeper then! Lol
  15. I know what your saying but the fact that he is that price would mean he's already proved himself. And not many would pay top money if there bitch was that shite.
  16. If I had a top stud, I'd let him go over any bitch going, if I'm getting £1000 a pop. I'd be a fool not to. Couple of those a month and you've doubled your sallery.
  17. As you've said, consistency is a must, but what always sticks in my mind are the one off rare catches. The ones where you think that dog hasn't got a cat in hells chance of catching that...and it does! These courses, kills, catches always stick in my mind many years later and I think these always help you put a dog in the upper echelon of canines.
  18. It reminded me of Revsby show (lincs) when I was a kid. I don't go to many shows now but you don't see the high jump any more. Used to be good fun.
  19. There is a catch wrestling gym in stockport.
  20. My old coursing dog, I could stop running game probally 8 out of 10 ten times, if he was close to me and I stopped him in the first 10 or so yards. This was mainly rabbits or a long distance hare though. This was handy when we were beating woods out or ferreting and it see a hare in the distance. My young dog though, not a cat in hells chance!
  21. Gnash, there is a picture of him in the sun newspaper today.
  22. R.i.p. To win a gold medal is something to be very proud off.
  23. As much as I love boxing, I'm fed up of waiting for the big fights to happen. How long have we been waiting for PAC man v mayweather! I'm fed up of reading about it.... But if it does happen I'll be buying that fight for sure.
