Stav, what happened to you would have been a foregone conclusion round here. A mate of mine had the job of shooting a chicken/duck killer. He told me he was going to wait for it that night and i said what are you going to use? He told me that he would wait with a borrowed thermal spotter then flick the lamp on and shoot it. As i wasn't going to be foxing for two nights i offered to take the Drone of my rifle, fit it to his and show him how to zero it. He didn't want to bother as it would be ok to shoot it with the lamp. No amount of me telling him otherwise made a difference. Anyways, they did

Anyone going to the game fair ?

It's good that you can still do that, round here you would have no chance at all unless it's a clueless cub. -
Anyone going to the game fair ?
ianm replied to shovel leaner's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Personally i am not a fan of the game fair scene. It would be different if you could get good deals on things, but you can't now. The organisers and venue owners have seen to that, extracting every last penny out of the vendors -
Well said sir! In other words "nobody likes an arsehole"?
-
It’s a Dm80.

I was offered a French rifle last year. It was from 1939, never fired and only dropped once! ?

Hodgdons is an American powder and has an ingredient that the bureaucrats in the EU don't like. It cannot be imported any longer. It will take us a while to untangle our involvement in the EU, but that day cannot come quick enough for me.

I tried once to measure to the lands on my 204 and 243 but as you say, there wouldn't be enough bullet in the neck. In fact on the 204 the bullet wouldn't even be in the neck where it to touch the lands. I always go over the max fill as well to see if groups tighten up. Watching for pressure signs obviously.
-
I never bother measuring to the lands so i couldn't tell you. On the nosler loading data it says to seat to 2.510" so that is where i start. I then seat either side and see which way is improving. I won't bother with doing it with this load though as it is good enough where it is. What i can tell you though is that Mike Norris of Brock and Norris told me the bigger the jump the bullet has to the lands the more accurate it is at range. I have just looked on the barnes load data and it also recommends RL15 as a powder for its 58grn varminators. Seat to 2.540" , 41.1grns bottom

I have used the 55grns before in 243 and they are very good. Last time i used Hodgdon BLC-2 powder but it is no longer available thanks to the EU. I still have a tub and a half but the results with RL15 are good enough for me not to bother with the BLC-2. I have seated the 55grns to 2.510". What powder are you using?

It is a DM80 i have them on all my rifles.

A few weeks ago i ordered a new .243. It had to be a Tikka T3X supervarmint. On Friday i got a call from the rfd to say it had arrived. After picking it up i sorted the trigger to my liking and fit a dayscope to enable some load developing. I already had a few homeloads from my last .243 and a box of 100grn federals plus a box and half of Hornady 58grn. I also loaded some 55grn nosler varmageddons with rl15 powder. Saturday i went to a local farm to run the rifle in and try a few different loads. I used the federals to run it in which consisted of cleaning the barrel first then firing a shot a

I use, Rats, pigeons etc in trees 32ftlb air rifle Foxes and anything else in the daytime .204 Deer 30-06 Pigeon, crows game mostly 20bore Geese 12bore 31/2" BUT, this is just a generalisation and due to three gun cupboards full of guns i reserve the right to swap around any of the above depending on mood.? I have a 243 on order also because i have a slot for one.

It's almost as if you have filmed that as an advert for pulsar thermal gear.?
-
You could always send for one and try it. I would be very wary of anything that requires constant faffing about with. By which i mean, constantly having to adjust the focus and/or the amount of i/r it can cope with. Such n/v scopes are more of a hindrance than useful. You really ought to consider the option i messaged you about, yes,yes i know they are expensive, BUT you are only here once, make the most of it.?
-
There is only one way to see if a n/v scope is any good and that is look through it yourself. If you send for one and it is crap you will be able to return it under the distance selling regulations. I wouldn't go off a video, the actual image may be completely different. The only certainty with any optics is you get what you pay for.

She will most likely move the other cubs now, if there are any.

A few hours on the crows and jacks
ianm replied to David.evans's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Good mornings work that David!? -
But are all Maxus 31/2". Best bet is to take it to pieces and have a look on the barrel to see what it is chambered for and also what proof marks it has.
-
Well done sonny, looks like you are progressing leaps and bounds from the days when you had to sneak up on foxes having forty winks in a field and shooting them in the swede with the mouse gun. ?
-
So long as there is zero wind. I am sure you can shoot them on silage because you know the same crows will shortly be on crop xyz.
-
I knew that was the reason you called them French wellies but wasn't going to say anything. However now that SL has outed you! ? He is also right about the quality, my local gun shop has stopped supplying them now because he is sick of sending returns back. We should all get together somewhere in the middle of the country and invite the media. Whereupon we have a big ritual bonfire of "French wellies" and other "cheese eating surrender monkey" produce in protest of their "pissing and whistling over Brexit.?
