  1. Well that opens up lots of possibilities. A nice Gen2 tubed scope would be my preference, press a button to switch on, kill something and press the button to switch off. However you may find it a bit heavy walking about with and the most mag with a tubed is only ever going to be x6 although i have shot a fox with mine at 280yds. What about something like the wraith 4k or the Wulf 4k, my mate has just bought the latter and he is raving about it. I haven't looked through it myself yet but i will and i will let you know what i think of it.
  2. Yes it will work on that scope nicely. The problem i think you will have is whatever you get will have to be an add on. That's because you use your hmr in the daytime as well as night so cannot devote it to a night vision scope. Personally i would probably look for a second hand Wardy 800, i have one here and it fits that new scope nicely and works a treat on it. The latest version with improved screen/sensor and shorter is 530 pound.
  3. My mate has just bought the latest pard 007. What a cracking little unit! A lot shorter than its predecessor, a better screen (oled) and sensor.
  4. After a fair bit of researching and thinking about how i will most likely use this rifle i eventually decided on a scope to buy for it. I opted for the Hawke Vantage 4-16x50 30 WA SF IR with the HMR reticle. The scope came last week and i mounted it on the rifle in steel lok mounts. Unfortunately i couldn't go and zero it due to a dose of covid. Anyway today i tested clear for the second day so i could get out. I went this afternoon and set off at fifty yards, three shots later i moved the target board to 100yds. The blurb that comes with this scope says that if you zero at 100yds on 16
  5. I know the owner of nightmaster and used to do a bit of testing for him with different coloured led pills and other stuff. The worst i ever tried was green, i couldn't see anything with it at all. Red is good and of course white. Unfortunately i get a lot of lamp shy foxes here. Whether they have run the gauntlet of shooters with lamps or dog lads with lamps before they make it to the areas i shoot i don't know. What i do know is that i will never again waste my time with a lamp. Too many times i have waited hours for a fox only for it to turn up and run off as soon as the light is switched on
  6. I got a phone call from the lad that runs our shoot on Tuesday telling me that one of the other guns woke up a bit rough and did a test, it was positive. He suggested that everyone in the shoot should have one as a precaution because we where all together on Monday. I did two lateral flow tests and both were positive so I managed to book a pcr test on Thursday. I had to travel 30 miles to get it but needs must. Results came back positive today. I don’t feel any symptoms apart from a runny nose. I am glad I got it done as I normally go to see my mum and dad every day who are both 88. My dad has
  7. Gotta shoot it to see if i like it! Besides i bought a new scope for it so that needs zeroing now!?
  8. Just picked these up yesterday to have another play about with the hmr.
  9. Well this rifle is definitely a far cry from the last one. I went out today to zero it and try three different makes of ammunition. It likes hornady 17grn best up to now, it didn't like cci 20grn at all nor winchester 17grn. It's quite a pleasant thing to shoot to be honest. I zeroed slightly high at 100 yds and it was straight at the target at 140yds, i had to hold over one mildot at 185yds which i thought was good enough. I will probably be shooting up to 150yds most of the time but it never hurts to know where you need to be if you are stretching its legs. Next i will need to fin
  10. Could you possibly do that in English old bean, colonial linguistics isn't a strong suit here. ? Yes i reckon so, i have had it on several rifles and it has been flawless.
  11. That and i can adjust it for a n/v add on if required. Well i didn't get off to the best of starts with this rifle. On Wednesday i went with my mate to zero and test ammunition. After half a dozen shots it became obvious that the scope was at the end of its travel and i still needed to go down another 12". So we packed up and went home to investigate and change the scope. The scope was changed for something my mate had knocking about spare. Then we spotted the problem. When i asked the kid in the shop for a Wildcat Panther he said that they just touch the handrail so they fit a washe
  12. That should be much better to cart about. Of all the guns i have and there are some, the one i like to use most is my AYA no4 20 bore. It is just a delight to shoot with and can be carried all day. Much, much better than them there clay pigeon orientated over and under things.?
  13. For the moment i have put my Minox 3-15x56 on it. It's a bit much scope for it to be honest but it will enable me to zero and test which rounds (if any) it likes. It will also give me time to decide which scope i want to put on it and then i will buy one at a later date.
  14. Our next shoot is next Monday and it is the.410 kids charity day. It’s always a good day, we usually shoot 50/60 birds with a good little calibre and raise a fair lump of dosh for the kids whilst we are at it.
  15. Yes the Winchester is improved and quarter the Miroku is sleet. Both shoot well with the steel.
  16. I have used Empire super steel in all of my old guns, aya's, miruku, winchester etc and it is superb. Really fast, kills well and sixty five quid a slab.
  17. "Yer damn right boy"! and i am keeping it all. ?
  18. After much deliberation on what to fill my vacant slot with i opted for a calibre and got a variation done last week. The original slot was for a .22 semi auto which was as much use to me as a dose of cholera, due to there not being many rabbits about. I thought about another small c/f like a 22 hornet but eventually decided against it because i didn't want to be reloading another calibre. I had previously had a 17 hornet and dismissed that because reloading for it is a faff and factory ammo is far too expensive. I also had to think about which rifle i wanted and to be honest m
  19. No a pup hasn't done them. My mate has a gun shop and last year i took him down to get him some wellies. It was at a time when stock was low but he said i have a pair of Chameau that are fur lined. Anyway when i went to fish the box out from the back of the shop they where a pair of "returns". Which ,means for some reason someone had returned them and either had a replacement pair or refund. The wholesalers don't want wellies sending back to them but they want the logo cutting off the front and sending in instead. So as my mate hadn't got any in his size apart from these returns he said
  20. I know, it’s just a daft saying round here.
  21. If you see a rook on its own it's a crow and if you see a flock of crows they are rooks.
