I fully understand the reasons why people would be reluctant to challenge it via a court case and plod know it too. However people who won't do it themselves blame the shooting organisations instead of stepping up to the plate. These people are always quick to condemn others but lack the courage to do it themselves. The way i see it is, if you are not prepared to have a go yourself keep your condemnation of others and shooting organisations to yourself instead of being hypocritical.

I contacted BASC when this first came about and i asked what they intended doing about it. The answer i got was "we are trying to get an applicant to come to us complaining about it so that we can challenge it in court". However guess what? nobody is willing to challenge it, they have all to date, done what you have done ie: paid up and let plod off the hook.

If this is the geezer that gut shot a fox i wouldn't entertain going out with him again. He is a liability and just making your job harder. Mate or no mate you need to tell him he isn't up to the job and isn't shooting again.

It's nice when kids listen these days.? You won't go wrong with that, happy foxing!

Good result!

I don't know why but the site won't let me post it up. It has happened before and i managed to get round it by posting it up piecemeal but this time it won't let me. Then i couldn't get on the site at all last night. when i try to post it just comes up with a message about " oopps error 404".

Monday night i had no intentions of going foxing. I had been watching a series on netflix for a couple of nights with Mrs M. However at eight fifteen she suddenly declares that she wants to watch some other program or other. I said fair enough, i will go out then. As i usually do i rang my mate to see if he fancied going and as always he said yes. Now i knew there was a fox knocking about around the small holding of the caravan parks owner. I also knew it was around nine forty five so i thought i would start there. The entrance to the rear of his property is via two huge wooden gates that are

You raise some good points here. If the 50grn are working in the 223 for you then leave well enough alone. I hated my 223 (but not as much as the hmr). I wasn't reloading then and i think the problem was the bullets where travelling to slow. They had a tendency to pass through the fox and leave a big exit wound, so not doing much if any damage inside. The number of runners i had was seriously unfunny. I was sick to death of spending forever looking for fox carcasses. It sounds as though you may have yours tramping on a bit and so it is fragmenting inside. The 204s that i now run do this, foxes

No Noel Edmunds.?

That lokks like a corgi!

The 223 i had was 1-12" twist but it didn't like the Hornady 53grn superformance vmax ammunition. I decided to try 40grn federal premium and it liked those.

What weight bullets are you using?

Double posted.

273 yards with the 223 eh! Who paced it out Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage)?

They are anything but rare here, but natural england say they are and took them off the general license years ago. Yep! some pellets are fourteen quid a throw but i suppose for 500 it isn't bad. -

Years ago when i worked for a living myself and a couple of other lads were waiting for an inbound aircraft to land. Amongst other things i used to tow aircraft with a special tractor used for the job. Anyhow i was looking at this tractor one day out of boredom and noticed a shut off valve used for draining water from the fuel. It had stencilled underneath it "DRAIN MONTHLY". I pointed it out to one of the lads i was with and said to him "i'll bet that is a f*****g boring read".? -

I have loads of airguns including an FAC one. They are great for round the farm yards and even at home. Superb for knocking sparrows and starlings off the gutter, although you can't do that now as they are rare. ? -

I always wondered what you could write about shooting clays every month. If you have shot one clay then you have shot them all, boring ba****ds! ? -
Is it the original drone with amoled screen you use Ian? Is it fixed mag? I'm very taken by the sheer simplicity & picture quality of the new black env. It is for sure, fixed mag of 10x. The Drone is just a trade name for Armasight it is the exact same scope as the Black ENV. I have used just about every n/v scope/add on going and nothing comes close to this scope.

Took the words out of my mouth. How annoying is that bloke, talking through his teeth. Like one of the characters out of "creature comforts".? -

Shooting times is pathetic, mostly ads and the same old crap rotated. The two mags together in theory have a chance to produce something of interest, but i won't hold my breath. -
A friend of mine who regularly rings me to inform me that he has got me a new foxing permission if i want it, contacted me earlier in the week. The gist of the conversation was along the lines of "some of the farmers locally are starting to lamb can you have a look to see if any foxes are about". I said i would go this week weather permitting. This place consists of four farms more or less together and is quite a large area to cover. So large that if it where to be done on "shanks pony" it would take all night to cover just one farm. Fortunately all the ground is accessible by vehicle and can

I don't care what anyone thinks about varmint barrels. Shooting rimfires at targets or whatever beyond 200yds just because you can is fair enough. Not my idea of fun but we are all different. However i certainly wouldn't be shooting at anything live beyond 200 yds with a rimfire.
-
I don't care! I prefer varmint barrels because they work for me. Why would anyone want to shoot a rimfire beyond 200yds?

If you are hoofing about all over then i suppose lighter is the way to go. I on the other hand don't or rarely. At times i have numerous shots at range, one example is where i cull Canadas. I have had as many as seventeen before they lifted. A light sporter barrel wouldn't like that and start moving about. Wherever you live the under one hundred yards may be the norm but it isn't here. I shoot on a lot of agricultural land, big flat open fields and i am happy if a shot is two hundred yards but they are usually much further than that.
