  1. Just another lad messing up a thread, and a good one too! For me, its nice to see our British breeds/strains of terriers doing a good job for you over in the states Im going to ask a couple of questions if thats ok, just as im curious.... Are those badgers found 'to ground', if so, do they dig huge deep setts like our own badgers? What size do they make? Cheers BC, thanks for sharing the pics...........those porkies look a real nightmare! DnN
  2. Always fox tracking when the conditions are right. Used to shoot rabbits on the fell in the snow, was good fun, never did the purse net trick, good idea!
  3. How much for head mounts of roe/fox etc... also full body mammals? Details for postage etc would be useful Cheers
  4. Im not 100% about these exact ones, but abroad ive seen moth larva(caterpillar) that live in ants nests and they wander about inside the nest and eat the larva (grubs), the shield protects them from the ants bites. There may well be types over here that specialise in wasp nests.
  5. Could you put a pic of them upside-down? Or, could you tell me if they have legs underneath? If so, are the legs protected under the 'shield'?
  6. Its nice when the weather is good, but can soon change into nasty stuff.... Heaps of grouse (red)!! Loads of rabbits around the moor, hares are in good numbers, and roe deer are also up there. Other game birds including golden plover, snipe, woodcock, black grouse, the odd pheasant and grey partridge.
  7. Very risky, I would say, cooked rabbit bones splinter badly when chewed, and also they wont digest properly in the stomach, so they go through the whole system as sharp useless objects, which will probably cause you some serious grief someday.
  8. Most of my dogs diet is raw rabbit, I never cook it, not because I cant be arsed, but because it is much better for the dogs to digest than cooked, plus they get the bones etc, which, if cooked are a deffinate no no! I must say that I never used to freeze all of the rabbits I fed to the dogs, and they did get wormy quite regular, and I was worming every month or two. But now I always freeze all of my catch, and it has deffinately made a big difference with the worms.
  9. Hardly any round here either!!!!! Definatly a crap year for sloes!!
  10. Im assuming its just a boat/ferry, not a plane.......... As you said, a slip, with the bolt removed and a trigger lock would do, but to make the passage easier, ask whoever your travelling with, and ask your local pigs too, as things may be different up there! Good luck
  11. most gimps are shiny black, but its suprising how quick they wipe clean..... hahahaha nice one lucky!!!
  12. I got one for my lass, she loves it!! Always has it out with her in the winter!! Personally I wouldnt use one, plus its another thing cluttering up the pocket! Gloves are the way forward in my opinion!!
  13. Cant wait to get my little fella out with me!! Heres a couple of snaps........ the first pic he was less than an hour old! Hes now 7 weeks!! haha.....im writing text between my pictures!! he is just starting to get a cheeky side to him!!
  14. Plenty people up here have to do a lot of trapping for stoats etc.. when there are good numbers of reds on the ground. They are just very careful, rail traps anywere near woods are a big no no.
  15. A good days rabbiting Cracking pics! Whats the fawn lurchers breeding? Looks a nice type for the bunnies!
  16. Terrier will be happy enough mate, good stuff
  17. Your a bit wrong there, the police dont use any special lines!! In fact most of their dogs come from pet homes who donate them for being too unruley or dissobedient etc...
  18. You can eat fresh spuds from the garden from may untill october(starting with new/salad types), and between october and the following may you can eat stored spuds from your main crop which are harvested sept/oct. Ive never grown caulies, as I only eat a dozen or so a year, but I belive they are mainly an autumn/winter crop, may well be varieties to keep them going all year round!
  19. There will be guys in your neck of the woods with real good rabbiting lurchers, from tried and tested lines. Why dont you try hunt one of these folk down and see if they will help you out, and possibly find you a pup?
  20. Pic below, is looking down on Carlisle. And the solway firth. Pic below is my dream home!!!! Looking down to Alston And today, SNOW!!
  21. Im shooting them first week in November(driven), will let you know how I get on. They are packing up and getting real spooky now, so might be a testing day!!
