Well, for me the reason is this, I can walk the edge of a field, and as I go, I can quickly set snares on each of the rabbit runs that I pass, I can do it almost without thinking, can have my mind on other things like the scenery, or birds/animals etc.. its easy. And come the morning, its once again easy, to find and lift the snares and take the rabbits away. If I was to snare the holes, id be trapsing through brambles, crawling under pine trees, climbing fences, taring my clothes on thorns! I'd be in fecking ribbons, and I would have to cover ALL the holes so that I could sleep at night,
  6. Ive caught a load of frogs....also snakes, mice, voles, alsorts of things , and all in properly set traps either in man made tunnels or natural sites. Nowt you can do to stop frogs etc going in, but I would guess you have your traps set very sensitive, which is also how i like to have mine! Try setting them less sensitive, so that they need a heavier animal to stand on the plate to set it off. But, you then need the larger target animal to go through in the first place. The fact that you havent caught any stoats/weasels, is maybe down to the position and appearence of the tunnel, but you

  11. im not getting into any arguments here, ive got a half bred bull/grey, and he has run a lot of deer accidentally whilst out rabbiting! To be very honest, he simply dosent have the speed to take them regularly in the daytime!!! I have some good friends who used to run roe most days, they swear by saluki/grey/collie and they take a heavy tally throughout the year!!

  16. oh yes we have some nice land down there, struggling to do it all because every time we go over there its foggy, we will have some tidy pictures next week we are in a better place,and the week after the boys are down from yorkshire so i will get the tidy camra out with us and put some good pictures up. Aye some hill ground is hellish for being misty! Looking forward to it woods! And good luck for the rest of the season
