  1. Nice do woods, you have some cracking land there, and great looking dogs too, like that lurcher alot! Well done!
  2. Wierd question that jbs??? dont make any sence really...... however I used to run 20 drop boxes round an old quarry, lifting with rabbits, and rabbit fenced off when the boxes were put in. I only set them on one night a month, every month, and took around 200 rabbits each time........ thus the ferreting would have been shite in the quarry after trapping! dur!
  3. Ryton.... ok, you may need to fully coat your house with 20mm steel plate, and wire the alarm to the station!!! It will depend on how secure your garage doors and windows are, you will probably have to put it out of site of the window. They would probably prefer it in the house, but you could always ring up and ask the firearms office for advice. The cabinet will need to be british standard. And a seperate amunition compartment will also be needed for FAC.
  4. Well done, nice pics, and a great day out by the looks of it! That terrier has done well there, good stuff! DnN
  5. Depends on the area you live mate, if your in, say, the middle of ashington (not that its a particularly rough spot!! ) they will want locks on all windows, alarm in house, 5 lever locks on all doors, and a cabinet that conforms to british standards which is properly fitted with expanding wall bolts. If your out in the sticks, just a secure cabinet will do. I know, as ive been in both sorts of situation. They will take anything up to 5 weeks depending on how busy they are! Hope this helps DnN
  6. My cousin and myself had booked a days shooting up over the border on hily's shoot. It was a walk one stand one day, which was well organised and safely run. The regular guns know the land well and know how to get the birds to present themselves, we saw red-legs, woodcock, rabbits, hares, pigeons, and plenty of pheasants, and both myself and jonny made a decent contribution to the bag. Just like to say a big thankyou to hily for the day, which we both thouruoghly enjoyed!!
  7. A grouse keeper I know has one, a first cross GWP/Greyhound its a good worker, he has it doing everything, its a very versitile dog, its out on shoot days beating, rabbiting, foxing, quite a useful beasty!
  8. Great thread DEV, theres some excellent pups on here Ive finally got a couple of snaps of mine, bred him myself, out of G', by my Scrumpy. He's called Jack and he is around seven months old now. He will be out with us digging soon, to get a bit of experience watching from the sidelines, he might get a crack at an easy dig before the seasons end, we'l see how he matures.
  9. I didnt have any other gun to hand, and the reason I was wearing a cammo balaclava was because it was bloody cold Aye, ill speak to you soon alimac, hope everythings ok your neck of the woods!!
  10. if done badger beating i doubt you have. it is sickining and im not fishing. it was a big sport when i was young and cant understand anyone who would put their dog against one. shoot will sort the problem and i wont split hairs with you on this but if you put a terrier against a broc then questions are needed answered towards dog ownership. let me know you fellings on this mate Dodgey crack this! This guy has no idea!
  11. would this work with a mk3 box if so how much posted. i wouldnt no mike ive never used a mk 3, perhaps someone else will no mate. Will work down to around 8 feet
  12. An odd one I caught, looked as if it were molting..
  13. Pic of the dog, he did good, dont know how he does it.... but he will work flat-out all day long! Just the job!! Now ive got him a week off, so I can feed him up and hopefully get some meat back onto his skinny frame before we start working him hard again.
  14. Your fecking right it would be in heaven, coz I'd have shot the fooker!
  15. Just a few snaps of my poultry, unfortunately Ive had to sell most as ive moved house and had to downsize, but they were great fun
  16. Are there any folk who keep the old chunky bow legged type any more? They used to be popular as workers, I was going to put a bitch of mine to a dog from local hunt stock, which was a cracking worker, and a very solid dog, but unfortunately he died at work and so a long line came to an end.
  17. which lass next to the yellow car is you? lol

  18. Are these pics of the same bird. I think some are of robin and some are of a blackbird or thursh I agree with you, the windowsill bird is a white blackbird. The one in the puddle looks like a white robin!
  19. Well I was shooting grouse on the 1st of November, the first few drives were up on the higher beat, with a good covering of snow, I was out of the action up here, but after lunch I bagged a few brace. The day was great fun, and we ended with 45 brace, and a nice warm meal washed down with a dozen or so ales! Not much of a write up I know might come back to this and give a propper story of the day, as it was a great day
  20. Dispatching tool???? Whats this? not being cheeky, just curious, as ive always just waded in, grabbed the bird with a speedy catch to avoid the beak, and knocked em on the head, off the side of the trap or whatevers closest!
  21. If you have the time and work for the dogs you keep then thats all that matters! If you ever have too many dogs, they wont be given a fair shot, as they need plenty work and the quality will end up poor. I know plenty of lads that keep the one lurcher, as they work a full week and only get a couple of evenings and the weekend to work the dogs. However I know a few, who, like me, spend every waking second working their dogs (or just about!) so they would obviously have more time/work for more dogs. imo
