  1. oh well, must'nt have been our saviour after all rip Jesus
  2. Hi mate, i was doing lots of larsen trapping in the past, not as much now by a long way. I would always advise to be observant on your patch you need to locate a pair of crows, watch where their territory may stretch to, and another pairs territory begins... if you have located a nest your well inside a pairs territory ( dont put the trap in sight of the nest). If you use mainly top entry like me, place the trap near a small tree or fence, out in the open, and put it there at dusk. I bait with rabbit pieces and also feed the call bird rabbit, which works fine for crows. You should have the pai
  3. I used to get different varietys in my orders, as i keepered a big hill shoot, I liked the fact that the blue backs would not be sat in the woods with the blacknecks and ringnecks, but would often travell to out-by feeding areas in the reshes and bracken providing some good sport on the smaller days/walked up days.
  4. Ive always fed crows of all types to the ferrets........no issues.

  9. Good luck I know a few people who run a trap in their gardens to protect wild birds etc, and they pick plenty up... there traps never move from the one place. But like all vermin, you kill em and more will quickly fill the void. DnN
  10. Always liked the look of your Brandy, nice stamp of first cross.....and a good tool aswell. That Demon has some canister on him, hows he shaping up as a worker? Has he seen much yet? All the best DnN
  11. Cheers Fv mate a while since ive heard from you il pm you for the crack tomorow, knackered... just in from lamping.
  12. I used to use an old postmans bag, it was good and is sadly missed as i lost it during a house move, bigger than most game bags...... you wouldnt know where i could buy one from would you?
  13. I feed my crows and magpies whole rabbit when working the traps, their feed then also helps attract others. I keep hens, so i also use eggs to both feed the call birds and in the catching compartments in a fake nest of hay. If im overwintering birds in large aviarys they are fed a staple of soaked dog meal, along with various game and vermin carcasses. For fast results with your larsen, pin point an area well inside a territorial pairs territory and position in a good quiet place preferably near a fence or small tree etc. Top entry traps are best with magpies (for me anyway) and placing near
  14. They will supply any ammount of traps to cover the areas of woodland you cover, and also will give a grant of 32 quid per acre of woodland. I do a few myself, but were reds and greys here, so its all go... But the bad thing is, not all farms are doing there bit and therefore the greys will continue to spread etc, losing battle really
  15. Have you handed the body into the wildlife trusts??
  16. Nice one OTC, ive seen peewit and pipit nests up here, also some mallard are sitting aswell.... always nice to see
  17. I dont know how much experience you have mate, but heres some things ive learnt(might help)... I would get a letter box trap or two (or enough to cover area), decent sized ones... feed wheat/barley inside with doors open until they are feeding all the time from it.. then shut the door, if your luckey and dont spook them off the trap, you might get a very large catch... it has worked well for me with rooks and jackdaws in big numbers. For best results visit the trap at dusk time and you wont be putting birds off the traps. For crows and magpies, use the larsen trap... you will need ca
  18. You have some good workers there Dee, they are a credit to you....
