  1. I use the striker, im also soon to be getting a blitz for the bigger fields etc.. The worst thing for me is the wiring and connections. Ive had many nights brought to an early finish or needing to stop to repair perished wire, or loose connections. Now I rewire the lamp, and wire directly onto the battery, a good screw on clip, or even small crocadile clips would do the job better than the origionals. Im sure the lamp companies make these parts poor on purpose to increase future sales of parts from the customer. If you were making a lamp that was to be better than whats availab
  2. Caught another one today, a female this time.... about half a mile from the last one.
  3. Are you a gingerist mate to me thats a white or albino , the colouration is due to staining , i have had a few that were everything from that colour to proper white, i shot an ermine a couple of weeks back with similar colour staining of the fur, no matter what colour you want to call it i reckon they are pretty rare Im thinking the same thing, as the eyes are pink, which would suggest albino? But im not arsed what name it comes under, its a nice fat specimen aswell, ill definately get it mounted. Was a nice find like Cheers DnN
  4. Pic of mine when he was a youngster.... Bull/grey..... 7 months old
  5. How much? and, can it be dismantled? Cheers
  6. I feed my dogs every evening. Not in the mornings as they may be working all day long. They never get burned out, muscle cramp... for me if a dog didnt want to eagerly work all day its nae good... thing is, ive never had a dog that isnt mad keen and will work as long as I stay out, the longer the day the better as far as they are concerned..., they never tire and they never get a breakfast. The dogs out lamping are fed when they are back in. If a dog is getting a bit too lean I just up the feed. Mine get mainly BARF diet...
  7. Rolfe is still kicking.... il take my chances!
  8. Pretty sure the wee eyes are red looking....... not the usual eye. Il take your word for it though, it will be going to the taxidermist along with the silver mole I caught a couple of weeks back. Only its back was proper white with no ginger on it.
  9. Caught my first albino today...........
  10. Hily, ive got one large banty clocking now, any good to you? You could either come over and put eggs under, or come when dark and take bird to yours to sit on eggs, either way.
  11. Great to hear UphillDoc, thanks for the input.... they sound good. I will now find out more detail on signal coverage in my areas, and if all is well I should be hunting next season with at least one or two of the dogs wearing a collar. DnN
  12. I learnt young(the hard way) and now keep my earthdogs for digging well away from rabbits.... they do go ratting though, and this has never caused any problems. I take the young terriers out to watch at digs, ratting and exercise away from bunnies. When the young terrier is starting on its first digs i will always have an experienced marking terrier show that it holds fox 100%, to avoid early mistakes. After a couple of seasons you will be able to trust in the terriers judgement. If you worked the terrier on rabbit aswell, then a good mark would always have you guessing...
  13. Cheers for the response so far, were getting warmer thats for sure thanks for the input KYE. TYLA same thing mate, but there is a new model with a neat collar. That model fits into a harness with the ariel protruding from between the shoulder blades. Cheers, DnN
  14. This time last year we were seeing loads of young, even in january, but not much about yet this year up here. Cheers, DnN
  15. Well im interested in the device simply to help me when out hunting, I hunt dense forrestry aswel as mile on mile of rough hill ground, and there has been several times when one of the dogs has made a kill, and then eventually left it, as ive been unable to locate them.... its frustrating when one dog returns, showing signs that it has killed in the forrest, or a deep ravine or somewhere, mouth full of fur, covered in claret, some of the dogs would sound at the kill, but others will leave it and move on to find more game. Most people who hunt hounds in the USA will use either radio or gps
  16. You have a hand held gps, like the ones for hiking etc, it can also be used for this, and in car etc,.. but you can get collars for the dogs, and track them on the hand set, shows exactly where they are. Even alarms when they stop, loads more features aswell I need to ask some questions to people already using this system, or similar ones. Cheers, DnN
  17. I would be interested to hear from anyone who uses gps collars/locators for tracking hounds...... im specifically interested in the latest Garmin model. I have plenty of questions for experienced users of these systems, Cheers, DnN
  18. Try asking Big Pete, on here, he went out with a stalker in wales for a boar, im sure he will tell you all the details, Cheers, DnN
  19. The body grips are the business for a good clean kill, but the tunnel for the mk6 fenn is very easy to make out of three small planks, with no need for making slit down the side for the bodygrip spring. You could obviously use the bodygrip, and fenn without making a tunnel/cubby, and house the trap in a natural site like a bankside hole, or hollow log, or in a pile of driftwood, make sure its well anchored again. And make sure that the trap site isnt going to be accesible to kids or dogs etc.. Best to update yourself on current laws/regulations and guidelines before setting any traps,
  20. I ordered mine in bulk, so cut down on price a bit..... but for a single trap or two, check out the link at the top of this page, where you go onto the snare and trap designs page, Trap Supplies...
