  1. Some of my terriers do suffer in the worst of the winter weather. The breed that was developed as a worker in my area was the border... however I was put off the breed as they are ruled by posers and money. And i work mainly smooth coated terriers now. Ive never been to a suposedly working terrier show where it wasnt 'spot the worker'... a damn shame, but shows will always apeal more to the show-offs than the workers. I used to take one or two terriers to some local shows in the summer, but not any more... I hate feeling embarrased, being one of the only people without a pampered, unwork
  2. Couple of snaps... not great quality as they are off the phone.
  3. But JBS you said YOU were a wannabe? In your previous pointless thread here: http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index...c=93055&hl=
  4. cant belive they sacked you and were going to take you to court.... your previous input to the site was so knowledgable and informative, they should have been proud of you, given you a medal... never mind, now you'll show them ey....

  7. LDR are you sure all of the others that have said they will pay, are going to? How hard can it be to pay up entry money? edited to add.... As there are others that seem willing to pay up, it might be best to go on first come first served basis???
  8. Didnt make over Den, had a call for urgent work, so ive been busy... was looking forward to it all week aswell. Hopefully next year il make it, shame, as its only 40 minutes drive for me.
  9. Personally I hate kawasaki's, shite handling etc, and not tough enough in the long run. Polaris are also nasty bikes. The yamaha bikes are great bikes to work and good handling, but after 2/3 years of hard use problems start coming in thick and fast... im of the same opinion as most, and that is that a honda will outlast all others.
  10. Act your age. You started the name calling .... PM me, lets not argue on the thread!!
  11. You feed rabbit or dog mince in the evenings...? Where do you get the dog carcasses from to mince up, or do you buy it ready minced?
  12. Rabbit, or any other birds and animals like squirrels, crows pigeons, whatever you get....best to skin it for the young kits to get stuck in, ive got some here about two weeks old, and every time the jill drags something into the bed, the kits are all over it. I feed daily to aviod food getting fly blown.
  13. Im with you mate, dont like chemicals in cooking so that rules the fish out for me.... but those mice look nice(in the wine), and if i was hungry id be well chuffed with the sheep head... The chick in the egg was a bit too well developed for my liking, bit too crunchy when they get to that size... i prefer them only about a week on.. mmmm
  14. Thing is, the chicks have either been taken away from her(as day olds) or (as with her first this year) killed by pup. But even so, my best up to now, was two broods off a banty in the summer, so im hoping this hen will sit it out and hatch these off for me, she can then rear the chicks in safety this time in an ark, so no doubt it will be her last go this year. They are Reeves pheasant eggs. DnN
  15. One of my OEG hens is now broody for the third time this year....im putting 18 fancy pheasant eggs under her on Sunday, so fingers crossed.
  16. Nice.... i wonder when he went to empty the cage, if there was just 1 really fat dog in there lol
  17. Aye looks like you did that fox a favour, it wouldnt have lasted a whole lot longer with its mouth in such a bad state...good shooting anyway mate, you and that rifle make a good team!
  18. So basically you have done is made them out of the large green garden canes (from the garden centre), drilled them and bolted them together??? Why didn't I think of that!!!!! Oh! Yes! I did! I Should have got the copyright and patent as well?????????????? BOSH! But, at the end of the day they will work a treat, and will save a novice the hassle of doing it them selves... so all in all a product that will work, and cheaper than specially made jobs. I use the same sticks myself, but mine just have heavey duty rubber band instead of a bolt, and they do the job excellent, plus I ca
  19. Too big for what I want... sorry mate!
  20. Ive had similar experiences to shell and bigstu, as I find them on my dogs exposed undersides after encountering lots of thistles, mainly on my cockers, but the lurchers aswell. Like has been said just wipe with disinfectant, I would use hibi-scrub or dettol, and it clears up straight away.
  21. Could you hoy a picture on mate?
  22. The fells of my area are rife with Adders, and about 4 years ago two dogs died on the estate I worked on as a result of adder bites... Also my sisters patterdale was bitten and she had to recussitate the dog (mouth to mouth) 3 times until she got it home and sorted it, as she is a vet. The first dog was a big black lab, that must have got bitten when out on a warm evening in the early autumn picking up ducks after an evening flight, the leg was swollen, and sore.. the dog was kept in the vets overnight where it made an apparent recovery, however its liver and kidneys packed in a couple
  23. Not really mate, its a specialised VIRUSCIDAL disinfectant, and if used too strongly will chap a dogs pads very badly. In my opinion your better off with a multi purpose, general dissinfectant like Battles or Jayes, or any other as long as its approved for use with kennels. regards DnN
  24. I second what Simoman says.... I was given the book 'Running with the fox' when I was young, and it is the best book out there that goes into the life and ways of the fox in great depth, also he studies both town and country foxes from different reigions showing their adaptability etc etc... also has foxes in pens, it really is a great read.. Unfortunately i gave mine away to a lad that was very keen a few years back, otherwise I would have offered it to you. ATB DnN
