  1. Theres no way im going to use anything off the net without first gaining permision! Cheers muttle Im doing ok so far, and have been offered an awesome fox pic, aswell as a great Roe Buck pic! Many thanks Bill! I may have a good rat picture aswell, not 100% on that one yet. Thanks to all who have helped me out!! Pictures still needed: RABBIT. And not essential, but will help: carrion crow, mink, stoat. Cheers, Dogs

  3. Ok ive very kindly been offered excellent suitable pics of Wood pigeon and Grey Squirrell, so these are ticked off the list. Many thanks J
  4. Thanks for the info mate, certainly food for thought at the moment
  5. No you are wrong......the difference is in the different form of the dog not in a different metabolism. You keep writing about glucose do your research on glycogen not glucose. Glycogen is the form that glucose is stored in lol now how do I hold that egg lol. please read the post rather than reading what you think is there. I suggest different nutritional needs adjusted to role. no if you read the post i say that wolves have these abilities and passed them on to dogs also that dogs can manage without carbs in their diet. I go on to show that carbs are probably useful i t
  6. Just putting the feelers out here... I run large ammounts of traps, and its soon to get a bit larger, so anything that saves time, and saves me using pen and paper will be a godsend! I use markers aswell, but have still lost a fair few, especially when it was pissing down and my pad was a soggy mess. I ended up sick of using paper pads. Im not keen on spending a fortune on a gadget that is a pain to use, or that may break down when wet etc.. so could you give us some more detailed info on the unit you have experience of, how long it takes to add a trap site etc etc Interesting stuff,
  7. Thanks for that Matt So when busily setting trap after trap..... will it be a very simple, and quick process to add the location to the gadget? Will the gps be more efficient than pen and paper is the main question? Cheers DnN

  9. Aye thats what I thought mate, cheers. ..... im relying on people to donate me the pics I need. I can do a decent enough mole pic myself with a dead mole, but would love a pic of a live rat, rabbit and fox especially... Anyone got one I may use? Cheers DnN

  11. Hi everyone... i'm in a bit of a pickle, im needing a few pics of various wildlife..... Im putting together my new brochure, I'm wanting to make it a lot more interesting than my last one, with a few photos in there. I'm looking for very clear pictures, of birds/animals, when alive preferably. Moles, Rats and Rabbits especially, also Roe, fox, corvids, wood/feral pigeon, stoat, mink, grey sqirrel. Theres loads of good'uns on the net, but im worried about copyright laws. If anyone knows how to check if a picture has copyright or not that may be of assistance. I will be extremely
  12. Plenty about up here.....some real brute hobs. I caught a rat that was 22 inch tip of nose to tip of tail! It was just last month, and has been photographed along the tape measure etc.
  13. Im a winter lover myself aswell on the go all the time, non stop... its great! Nice temperatures to be out and busy, not sweating yer arse off, or covered in flies!!
  14. Na, they dont smell like a wild fox would, but mine went back to the wild before it was a year old....so could have got worse. He was tame alright, you could carry him round or walk him on a lead, and he came to a call, but was always wild at heart! We would see hi a mile or two away, and he would avoid us, not listen to us. But when back home he would be fine again, coming to see us for a pat. Was nice to hear from my friend, that on the last occasion he was seen, he looked a fine example. large and very grey on his back. And this is from living alone with no food from my mate for a
  15. I dont agree with all your points, I may be wrong, not sure what to make of it though. Your saying that carbs are so important in a dogs diet.... you say that over thousands of years we would have fed dogs scraps, which would mainly consist of carbs... i dont really agree with that, as dogs were initially used for hunting meat, and this remained the primary purpose of them for thousands of years, and i belive they would have been fed on their natural food of meat and bone, probably the trimmings, heads etc? Are you saying that our modern dogs digestive systems have developed a nee
  16. good stuff mccroyart, any chance of putting your vid up? Ive been lucky to have been in the right place at the right time... a few times! When I lived in Invernesshire, we spotted a huge otter working its way up a decent sized hill burn, catching small trout as it went. We walked passed it with two ponies and it was in no rush escape, it just looked away and steady as anything, just slipped into the pool, we seen it emerge at the far side, to hide behind a large rock under a ledge.Ive seen lots on the river in my area, two years ago I was watching one fishing a nice stretch of the river th
  17. Just shows what happens when fukwits get hold of proper dogs.......... even more reason to keep working dogs in a tight knit comunity and never sell to outsiders.
  18. Ive been fine tuning my carcass handling skills with the help of this, last night I boned all my joints, it went well, and will save freezer space!! Thanks again Marting for putting up the thread
  19. Always good reading your threads, good stuff mate
  20. I dont like em either Like you say 'it was only a matter of time'! Hope this mans prosecution serves as a lesson to anyone thinking about buying one. As you will know, these divices are widely misused and I hope DEFRA realise this sooner rather than later... Its disturbing how easy it is to find them advertised on the net though, and often with very little written in the advert, that states they shouldnt be used to kill animals, just destroy tunnels. Thanks for sharing
  21. well Chris, i will pick up that gauntlet if you allow. Artificials are of great use in many places as they are a known place for foxes to lay up in the daytime. If you know where the fox is then it can be bolted to gun, or into a net to be humanely despatched from point blank range. If there was no artificial you wouldnt be able to do this. No one puts artificials in for anything other than pest control. They are easy to work and so its a quick dog in/fox out scenario. You know where the tube lays so no uncertainty of how deep orr where it will run. Also they are mostly shallow so should
  22. Cant fault the cross either. Hunt like hounds.
  23. Only problem I can see with using pipes, instead of slabs, is that when you dig down, its a nightmare trying to get at the dog and quarry ....as you will know with artificials, they are often dug mid-pipe.....never have that problem with a stone-built one. Totally legal Para1...... and if anything its a good thing to make them- in areas where there are no or few natural earths,- as like ive said, one of mine gets used most years to rear cubs in, as there are no other holes for miles around.
