    Thursday evening had a call off a mate ,did I want to join him on a roe /muntie cull on his perm .Well, ok if I must says i ?? We met yesterday morning in the fields below the wood ,hoping to catch a few roe out early doors but the field was eerily empty .I see deer here every time I pass .So a walk up to the wood which ajoins a bit of my perm on the left and still no roe in the half light with the thermal .Oh well ,there’s got to be a muntie about surely .     There’s a sight mate .Havnt seen any for years here .Used to be stacks of it at the end of an old canal but they’ve dredged it and put fish in .Should of left that end wild . I did see two frogs on the road last night headed to a pond .I always try avoid them if I can .

    Things as rare as hens teeth here now mate after the cull .Lapwings coming back ,big flocks of golden plover and seen more English partridge here in the last 2 years than I have in the last 30 .

    There’s too many renting leases who have no fecking idea how to control deer mate .Fallow need a firm hand in culling which never relaxes .I know quite a few who pay 3-4 grand a year and only go in the rut to shoot the big bucks .It’s the does need culling not the bucks within reason .It’s the does that breed and there will always be a buck to serve does .Should be compulsory to kill x amount of does or your out and bring the price down to let the average man have a chance at real management .
