    This unpredctable weather is truly messing up normal behaviour .Out this morning and saw a first for me .Three does lead in the lee of a farm building ,against the wall.Totally took me by surprise.Also bolted a fox that was between a double layer of bales ,just by rocking the end one He ran off tail like a bog brush .Didnt get much further before the heavens opened and it was back to the truck and home for breakfast .Much more and we'll see the buggers with webbed feet .I find that rain dosnt trouble roe as much as wind though .They tend to huddle out in field hedges as opposed to the woods

    Cheers steve 109 for setting up this red squirrel found on a trip up to Foxhunters a while back .Road casualty so not an easy subjcet .The result is very good and i recommend his services as a taxidermist .Very promt service and courteous ,Cheers Steve .

    I know that bucks vary up and down the country , ive seen them in antler after christmas down here but not the norm i must say .I think this year the wet is having an effect on movement which is a big factor in antler shedding i think .

    Nail on the head mate and as for noisy plastic sticks ,bollocks springs to mind .Only noisy if the user has no business being in the countryside .Noise is what a man makes not a pair of sticks .

    Barry j -Im not sticking up for anyone here but the deer population around the country is not the same as may be in your area .I shoot well in excess of 130 cull animals a season ,admittedly on a bigger acreage but hampshire is THE county for deer .If you havent seen it for yourself then dont be too quick to run down others .

    Ive ALWAYS tried to find a terrier without the box before its brought in to verify .Listen at holes first ,this will give you roughly the general area .Hands flat on the ground will give you another clue up to a depth of about 6 foot ,covering the ground in 3 foot moves ,anything deeper and its back to the holes ,scramble in and turn your head about to get the direction to trench in.Open your mouth slightly as this will give you direction in one ear better than the other . Clear away the leaves, grass,twigs anything that will get you nearer the ground and listen with one ear shut .Loud baying

    We try to put the branches at the bottem ,to keep any pipes clear and mound it up over to allow for sinkage .A few branches over the top and no-one knows you been there .

    Thers some less than a mile from my house but that dosnt mean i have access to them mate .Again Vimmer a good buck on last light .Do you bother much with the does at all ?What weight would that go ,just under the 100 pound mark id say as a guess .

    Two little stories for me justify the word game - Used to have a very well muscled black dog by the name of 'Heller'.We used to work a sand pit ,not strickly with permission mind but ......... We ran a fox to ground with the lurchers one afternoon ,well under a pile of boken slabs really and entered 'Hell '.Because we had run it in ,it wasnt about to bolt and a propper noise started up from within .The lurchers were left to circle as we moved slabs to get to them .As we neared the sound i could see the dog scrambling up a large slab to get to his fox at the top who had the upper hand and pun
