  1. Like you say mate, pays to persevere with a dog for a while .You know in your heart if things just arnt going to plan and the time is right for a change but if the dog is showing promise then develop it .Good post mate ,honest and to the point .I like it that way ,thats what its about and how it shuld be
  2. Tell you what John ,tenner says you will find them seperately at some time .Carried away and played with by charlie .
  3. Nice one mate .Always good to get a possible problem before it gets you .
  4. Martin came up for a shine around one of my sheep farms last night .Lambing is near and the farmer is anxious to minimise fox predation so we will concentrate our lamping here for a while until the next farmer shouts .Did all the lower ground seeing only a lone roe doe and disturbing a huge flight of geese on the flood waters . Made our way to the farm and spotted a fox on the neighbours ground .A sqeak with of the calls i brought back from America had him bouncing in big time.He came to the wire fence and decided to run down it a bit before coming through and standing perfect broadside for
  5. Cracking day out mate .Were the skins used or thrown ?.Some haul that .
  6. To all you shouting waste of time ,you have forgotten a thing or two about history especially the black dogs .I dont want a lecture on whats been used or hasnt been used but its there in all black pedigrees .The introduction of bull blood is specialist and shouldnt be undertaken by a casual breeder .Im not advocating anyone try it as most would end up with useless rubbish . To the original poster -Because you have a dog mate as opposed to a bitch [i think im right here ] then its usual for you advertise the fact that you have a decent dog up for stud ,if indeed it is a decent dog .if you hav
  7. Definately fallow Deker.Careful with those wire cutters mate
  8. Not one to boast but ive seen it twice before but never had a camera ,only a rifle.Fair amount of noise as they part ,mind you so would i . Once saw 4 dog foxes fighting over a vic that rejected them all and ran like hell .Nice pic though mate .I can imagine how hard it was to get within camera range as they will part prematurely if disturbed .
  9. Apples on wall tops are a good source of energy for all our thrushes .Just past ripe and whole .
  10. Just to say in reply to Johns post that ive called several foxes with food already in their mouths .Hunger i think may sharpen their aproach but is does not stop it if their well fed .The desire to cache ,hide food is what drives the fox ,makes him a survivor .
  11. Not knowing you or your methods mate ,i would say its you and your methods that arnt helping .Are you serious trying to call foxes into shotgun range in the snow .I take it you are stood in the middle of a field ,calling,No back drop ,switching the light on and off to gauge the distance of matey . Right ,thats out the way so heres what i do that should have foxes crawling up your trouser leg regardless of whether they are squeak shy ,lamp shy or both . Learning to call with your hand is the first major thing ,without it you wont succeed .Master this and the night is yours .The tones ,the vol
  12. your not far wrong mate, the money thats wasted on the railway, I recently surveyed an area needing rabbit control, and advised 10 drop traps to be installed, having them set and checked daily, one week in every month, the quote my bosses put in, was...... wait for it........ £26,000 Id of done it for 25 plus deisel money ,lol.Did they get the contract? Time you went solo my friend.
  13. Just out of interest mate ,was the type of poison used treated by the vet with a vitamin k jab. Please find out and reply as its important to know that i carry the right antidote .Cheers .
  14. Look mate, disregard what you have read in the threads before this Shite . Dogs NATURALLY bolt food ,it is the way they are designed .The sickness afterwards is natural too ,he will re-eat it when he wants too .It is a natural way to ensure the dog gets enough food when in company ,whether he is or is not .Some dogs will never do this ,some will never stop but as long as hes fit and well theres nothing to worry about .
  15. Not strickly true ,some bitches are ultra clean when in season which means they are missed .I have one that you would never catch in ,the neighbours bloody alsation lets me know though .Ive learnt to spot the signs from her though .

  18. Another good outing mate ,well done .
  19. Nothing to do with regs mate ,a few back handers ensured that the £200 a night charge is restored .Two operatives for two hours ,that £50 per man per hour .For shooting a few ferals .Scandalous .Only joking of course but your method has defo been shelved as one of those labour saving devices your boss can live without .
  20. In laymans terms mate ,munties and cwd can be shot with a .222 and up with 55gr bullets of the expanding variety eg soft nosed.
  21. What a load of crap. If your referring to the fact that POLAR BEARS wont eat cubs or slow adults mate then you need to watch a bit more discovery channel.Well known fact when food is scarce .As to foxes eating their own kind i've no doubt about it but no first hand experience of it as i incinerate all carcasses as a good bloke should

  24. Im seeing the exact opposite mate ,deer sat out in the middle of fields during the day but tracking reveals they spent the night in cover .Complete reversal to normal behaviour.Maybe the slight thaw here is keeping them out to avoid being dripped on .Only a guess though. What i have noticed is that the roe are not in their taditional wintering grounds and have travelled a bit to where the food is available i guess, eg cropping . Personally im refraining from shooting too many does in this weather as opposed to the odd one because the hard conditions give a false representatin of whats on the
