  4. Not wishing to jump on the bandwagon so to speak but whats the name of that jab you use at 5-6 weeks? .Im assuming that being the one jab it covers all ailments as the vet doses do not ,hense the re-dose at 12 weeks . At 5-6 weeks, im sure your aware, the pup is still covered by the bitches colostrum immunity and this therefore works agaist the jab you are giving so young . No doubt whatsoever that pups will kill at 4 months, you have to seperate some earlier than this to stop them killing each other .To state that good dogs are found by your methods is probably true but to also state that se
  5. Heard about this, some disgruntled employee i expect
  6. Like "earth" has said its mainly for the chalk but we dont get up there often .Useless on brashy stuff we found out .
  7. 22 years ago ,the wage was £75 a week as beat keeper. No house and i travelled 35 miles to the job in an old mini pickup that guzzled a fiver in petrol a day .Havnt a clue whats the going rate now as i out of it.On the field by 4.30 am in the summer and never left until the work was done.Winter saw us having to go lamping ,and believe me its a chore after a days shooting and we wouldnt get back to the yard much before sun up ,vast acreage .Tips ,well what a joke ,60-40 it was explained .60 to the head keeper and 40 between 4 underkeepers and me? . Loading was the thing i was good at ,pocketin
  8. Tail end of the rut mate .Best of both worlds then .He will have sowed a seed or two and graced your larder and be in the best ANTLER shape and colour.Does look a corker mate .
  9. I'd be 100% certain they are keds .Bloody side walkers ,i hate em .
  10. Out yesterday on the estate local to me.Tried a few likely places before coming across a freshly scraped place that has been dormant for a couple of years.Would of missed it if it wasnt for the sharp eyes of mysef as we drove by.Single holer under a yew tree and a solitary net placed on. We take turns with the dogs trying places and lately it seems that my mates bitch gets all the lucky spots. She could be heard but not close to the entrance thankfully as yew roots are notoriously hard to get through, being tangled and very tough to chop .Found her away near the track at 2 metres.Let her settle
  11. well put Good reply mate and i hope it sinks in .
  12. Out Friday with Local off the site ,on a farm where the control is onging .The farmer runs a shoot as well as breeding rare sheep which are due to lamb now .Lamped the lower fields first and spotted charlie well out on the flood plain ,stalking ducks i expect .The fact that he never ran said to me he was probably new around here and a squeak proved just that .He was cautious at first but his confidence grew as he came in ,trotting along nicely . I was on the bipod up on a bank and i watched charlie skip through the wet areas in the scope on his way in . Local held the beam low at his feet ,th

  18. BB has got to be the best fox cartridge .We use the buffalo carts .Good pattern at 30 but still a killer at 40 .Solid slugs look like these mate and can only be fired in magnum shotguns ,these at least .Hatton Pattern!
  19. Ive only ever owned .243 but ive seen deer shot with most of the modern calibres .Bullet placement is the key to successful stalking not the round .In the dark ages when there was no calibre /bullet legislation ,we used to shoot fallow with a hornet and down they went, may have run a bit but that will happen with them all .Getting used to a particular rifle /bullet is in my humble opinion the best advice for anyone .Swapping and changing to find the ultimate is not conducive to good shooting .
  20. Roll on spring eh foxy .I feel some contraversal posts coming on .
