Trouble is mate ,the fox gives nothing a break and youve seemed to have lost the reason why you are invited on the land in the first place .Giving a pest a season is what the antis have used to f**k up terrier work through the hunts .You would be the first to say you are digging for control but control in a true sense never stops ,it cant ,the fox never does

My take on stud dogs is this .If a dog is good enough to warrant breeding from [and too many arnt ]then why would anyone feel the need to advertise that fact .The circles he moves within will contain enough bitches to sort him out for pups forever .If the dog is from a good line then no one and i mean no one is going to let him cover any bitch no matter its reputation unless its from related stock and then we are full circle back to mates known to the studs owner .IMO a stud from a good producing line will not improve a bitch from scatterbred stock and the only way to start a line is with line

I think yourself and CorkyJohn are confusing open stud and stud fee. Open stud just means letting people breed off a dog. Price doesn't affect the outcome with the pups. Try to stop worrying about other peoples money and just think about terriers. CorkyJohn have you heard of the Cork dogs The General and The Blindman? (dogs from the white Cork line) They were both available for anyone to use ( and free!) Of course loads of shit was bred off them but they also produced the line thats still being bred today. The more those dogs were bred decades ago the more that's available for guys to br

Not one single person says its right its just one of those things that have to be done by those who live in a world where give and take is the norm rather than the hunting fraternity who would rather take and take some more .

Best of luck mate

What i know is that you work terriers .Plenty do but as to whether you do it right the juries out .Hunting season got nothing to do with fox control nor indeed does hunting in general .Its what f****d up terrier work in England .You keep digging mate but one day there will be a new lad on your land that has put in a bit of graft when needed and not just out for a jolly.Seems your on your own here as thankfully most are sane realists

Im the fool that does it right and you know it.. thats the last I will reply to you.. knew you were an ejit before this thread Says the retard with stained trousers
-
The brown stains will give him away though as will sticking to the moral high ground .

Retard season season in full swing i see. Couple of days early this year maybe but in session nonetheless.Whist i love nothing more than a good dig i am a realist and i will be out on calls to dig cubs ,shoot vixens and generally preserve what needs preserving this time of year .Its a fool who says do it right in the winter and you wont have problems now.whatever method. and its a narrow minded person who thinks foxes can be controlled purely with terriers .Terrier work whist an obsession is only part of what i do to keep permission and gain more .Be a sad thing if Irishman lost his permission

From experience ive known several bitches needing c-section that were in that age class .IMO a bitch should of have had a litter when in her prime rather than later to relax whatever needs relaxing lol. To expect a maiden bitch to of that age[if she is] to be in tip top condition reproductively is asking a bit much but what do i know .Crack on but be wary of overfeeding as she will find it extremely hard to lose at that age.

Not heard of a novice course in the field but a few guides will take you stalking for a variety of fees depending where you go .

Good write up mate.Worst year ive ever had here in Wilts.Only shot the one doe .Lets hope better weather brings a few bucks out soon .
-
If they are unweaned they are goners .Juries out on whether or not the dog helps at all IMO.Rest of pack ?

Worst season ever to be honest with most earths filled to brim with water .Nothing in bales either.Plenty about mind on lamp.
-
You are either a wind up merchant or a dreamer havnt made mind my up yet .We will get the inevitable calls soon but i wont lose any sleep about it .All part of being available for fox control. No gripe with what you do either only that we do it better.
-
Imo 8 years old is a bit too late to take a litter anyway but just my thoughts

Thought it was too good when the original thread went up so held back luckily

Fox control at this time of year for either lamb or bird protection is the most effective period .Kill a fox any other time its for sport and will be replaced straight away ,kill a fox now and the territorial boundary it had set up will last quite some time .Remove a vixen and youve spared a whole load of killng .Those that know will be doing it ,those that dig for sport will have have hung up the graft simple .To say that control should have been done in the winter and no probs now is to use the moral high ground but reality is very different. No one likes doing cubs but no one likes losing p

Help For Pine Marten Survey!
Squirrel_Basher replied to jodieh's topic in Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management
Lift the protection status and i would agree with introduction .Otters have been introduced to our rivers locally with a huge knock on effect of killing large barbel .Might be success for some but something has to give in order for that to happen .Know nothing of the pine martin but i believe it was once commen all over britain so whats changed . -
Should get plenty of advice what with the show season nearly on us lol

Whats lost on a lot of you is that an outcross is not necessarily so different .I would never use a dog that didnt have links to what i have .The same base bitches take a different way forward in the hands of someone else especially if the DOGS were of different breeding .By research and keeping in touch things arnt so bad .To outcross to something just because it works is courting disaster imo .Also the reason for outcross needs clarifying ,its not to rectify defects its to prevent them occuring .Honesty with yourself and others will go a long way when choosing your next sire .
