6 generations of workers .Last two still alive .Top 4 gone but not forgotten Apologies for pic 2 ,got carried away with swirl lol. -
Not being funny mate but foxproofing anything is easy .Shut them in before dark and everyones happy .kill every fox in the neighbourhood and the the next one along will do you if the sheds not up to it .18mm ply with 12mm wire mesh tacked on outside dug in the ground and up 3 foot will stop anything.Pay attention to doorways as these are a favourite in for the buggers . Sort this out and get some more mate .

Re The Job

Seen a few steamed up windows myself but luckily no ass bandits. On nights when the head couldnt be assed to get out he used to hide a set of catseyes somewhere on the estate where we were due and if we coudnt tell him where they were we had to have a f***ing good reason why we hadnt found them so that was priority .About an hour after dark we used to shine the light around the heads lower windows and then get off for some sleep in a vacant shepherds caravan ,Back out for midnight and shine in his top windows then a belt round on the quad to find the catseyes if we hadnt found them yet.For thos -

Dickheads lol.Done much ratting have we mate .The more oil the less rats get killed by fumes .The more smoke the more bolt .Leave the machine on tick over as the vibration helps get them moving .

FFS mate youve been mixing with the wrong sort .If a terrier wont do it fair and square in the field given the opportunity then it aint going to .If the jagd needs this type of entering then best stay away mate . Taking an adolescent to a fresh hole and seeing what occurs is the only entering i do .

So You Want To Be A Keeper???
Squirrel_Basher replied to danw's topic in Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management
I am far from arrogant and there are plenty on here that have had days out with me that can vouch for that ... It would be counter productive for me to rub up a keeper the wrong way as their bosses pay my wages BUT it doesn't alter the fact that they are arrogant fukcers ......... Socks -I know lads that know you and you are not arrogant by any stretch .Post wasnt aimed at you direct just in general .I treat as i find in life and usually that paves the way for clear cut relations. Ive not met an arrogant keeper yet but probably says more about the way i treat them .All the keepers local -
Have to agree mate .Nothing there that a yappy russel woudnt do or yorkshire terrier for that matter .Is that how they test a terrier, in pens. They must be proud to have filmed it .Got no problem with any style of work as long as it natural.Baiting is what f****d up true terrier work in this country .

So You Want To Be A Keeper???
Squirrel_Basher replied to danw's topic in Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management
Spot on mate .It takes a certain type of youngster to go into the job i find .The arrogant big headed types are not usually tolerated by those who are used to their own company .Best to talk an bit and listen a lot .Those that believe all keepers are arrogant are probably that way inclined too and have rubbed them up the wrong way at sometime.Good and bad in every trade but keepering has to be one of the few trades where a mans character is pushed from one extreme to another .I left the job because i was travelling 60 miles a day round trip and never saw the family growing up .I replaced a ke -
If he i did i dont think he would admit to it ,they were the point of ridicule for a while.

I would love to read a few stories of happenings that occured whilst youve been in the job .Ill start you off . Years ago when i was a beat keeper, lamping was done on a rota of the estate i was on.The headkeepers son and two underkeepers were a team whilst myself another beat and the head were another and we did one week on one week off all year round .The heads subaru was our transport and we got everywhere in it with him driving.Bloody cold and boring as hell some nights. He was very old school being in his sixties back then .i was only 22 so that 25 years ago!. As i said our driver was t

What a load of moaning old fannies lol.Everyone one of you loves every minute of it and rightly so.Best years of my life were spent in a tied cottage middle of no-where.The job has changed beyond recognition now though with many keepers maintenance men too .Your other skill will be used dont worry about that mate .Still used broodies when i started and that is work let me tell you .Used to shoot, snare rabbits at every spare moment that were boiled in huge vats then minced with mixed grain to feed poults .None of the bagged stuff. Good luck in your quest .

Read his post again mate .Think about the days youve had ,4m dig followed by a 3m dig with 5 assorted digs under a metre just to fill time .A fox in every hole .Dogs bottling up in rangey places in double quick time .What about back fill time .The stocking density. Carling would be hard pushed to put on a day like that .If im wrong ill say so but ..................... -

None of the above just know a porky when i read it .If thats your real name then i guess they are on thier way round yours now mate with that haul under the dogs belts .Are the other lads on here mate .would add a bit if they could do a line or two bearing in mind they will carry the burden too when your found out . Something else dont ring true either -you say he has lambed 350 with 400 to go thats 750 ewes on a 300 acre farm -not happening .Those ewes ,even allowing half have singles and allowing for deaths will double the flock so he now has 1500 plus sheep on 300 acres ffs .Have a think -
Take it further mate. The vet should of assumed that from the start and prescribed antibiotics .Its a process of elimination starting with minor building up to major not the other way around .Dont pay it mate and ask for a detailed breakdown at each stage .Theyve had your pants down proper.
