    The bit about Frain being a top read was meant to be a piss take before anyone gets on my case .Im a sensative soul with polemic tendancies. I think we all read Plummers works but it was EDRD that shed light on the man and his lying ways for me .Used to have racks of VHS tapes but of course its now all digital ,all the coney catcher,Phill Lloyd.Excellent .     Personally i dislike the tied dog at a dig almost as much as the hole ending or short dig .I like to have them self enter ,however cautious they appear .To work a dog into a frenzy then enter is to ask for trouble in my opinion but still goes on . Walk the dog to an earth and keep quiet ,no winding him up ,no words of encouragement. Time for praise is when the jobs done .16 to 18 months old in a chosen spot ,self entered . Bliss .

    The works of Sean Frain are far superior to anything mentioned yet ,especially his attention to detail in his drawings .Modern day authors would do well to emulate his style .

    Like i state lutra ,i havnt seen a jar for years .We have no clearfell or heathland here just meadow and woodland with chalk downland .The jars were possibly passage birds as no nests ever found .
