    Does the tag stipulate the size of the beast ,ie a trophy or a youngster or is that down to discretion on the part of the shooter .Are pigs on a tag system or a general license for the landowner ?.Do you need a tag to shoot coyotes ?.

    Rose tinted glasses were in fashion as well pabs lol.30 years ago around me any way was the advent of the black terrier take over .A few boys had them and it soon spread to whoever was serious about terrier work .I get the nostalgia but I remember the Russels well and what sticks in my mind is the insesant yapping from their type ,a somewhat blinkered memory but there it is .

    Just out of interest mate ,can you explain the tag system as its alien to us here .We are allowed to shoot whatever s in season ,as many as we want ,every day of the year bar a few .As I understand it your tag system is a bit of a lottery ,please explain.

    i think the best you can do with that is pick the right judge that wont entertain show ponies they will soon get the hint that they arn't wantedI don't mean at shows I mean in the club mate .You must be aware there are some that never work a dog but feel the need to tell others how .This is where it goes tits up

    Part of our deer control ,stalking is the art of getting close .Now I'm not having a pop but over your side of the pond it seems the further the shot the happier you are .We have a hugely larger population of deer here per acre but we still manage to get in up close and personal and pick our beast(s).Don't know if just a cultural thing or what but with fewer deer it should be easier to get in closer whatever the terrain.I understand you don't get as much time in the field as us and that chances have to be taken when they present but to my mind you are missing out on a lot of field craft we tak

    Lol good account there mate .I was out with a few lads years ago and one was a right mouthy show off which is rare for this neck of the woods as we are quite reserved as a rule lol .A fox in the net which he unnetted alive and said he was going to kiss it full on the mouth before releasing it .He had charlie by the snout and back legs and sure enough he kissed it once then tried again .Not sure how but charlie managed to bite the chap through his bottom lip and chin and boy did we laugh.Took a while before we were composed enough to help but the loud mouth just span around pulling at the fox

    Actually it probably doesn't .Glyns post was spot on but didn't go far enough with their infighting and jealousy.I've sat quietly in more than a few meetings and found it wasn't for me .Who wants to go to a meeting where working dogs are basically classed as a liability .The original thinking was on the money but times have changed so much as to be almost detrimental to the lads who just keep themselves to themselves .As Glyn said ,rescues are few and far between now and it was probably the internet that killed the need for the club as everyone now has access to other lads far and wide which i

    From memory ,potatoes are best fed when they are just turning smacky .Not everyone's idea of a truck full of grub .Try a few good runs split with a spade ,you'll soon find out .

    Had some yellow,golden pheasants years ago and they were ruthless .Made the mistake of putting a few partridge and quail in with them. Worked on a game farm years ago and saw some proper cannibalistic goings on but then again they were confined. The laying partridge that were overwintered would devour anything that died in the night plus I also witnessed one chase down a young mouse and kill it to swallow it whole.
