  1. thanks for the offer mate its much appreciated, but its sorted now i managed to get the last 3 from a shop in otley so they should last a while, im still going to try and get used to this mk3 though
  2. as with any dog the chance of one failing depends on the amount of work it is going to see, a terrier that gets dug to the odd weekend would have been the dogs bollocks to its owner down the pub, a legend when it's gone . but maybe if the terrier was out 2 or 3 times a week digging, its very possible that it would have been remembered as that pile of shite so n so bred, it might not have even been remembered. i've seen this with plenty of lurchers, scar'd to f**k, the owner bragging about how it wrecks foxes etc etc, then when it gets 3 or 4 foxes put in front of it in the night, it s

    4x4 Tyres

i've got greenway "machos" on mine, i had bronco "grizzly claws" on before thse but very very noisy on the road, both are excellent off road though. you wont go far wrong though with the bf goodridge "mt's", colway do a cheaper version with the exact same tread pattern ( colwat c-trax "mt's") but like a lot of good mud tyres there re treads these are the machos
  4. is the noise neccasary ? whats the idea ?, thats the main thing i'm struggleing with what do you do with the pinpoint control ?
  5. i could'nt get any replacement caps for the mk 1 and to be honest i dont do enough digging to justify buying a b & f, and i needed one urgent and was told there is now a wating list for the b & f so buy the time it arrived the season would be over, thats why i had to buy the mk 3
  6. i've just bought the deben mk 3 with the pin point dial on it, but i've had a couple of practice goes with it and just cant seem to get a good mark, the noise is confusing also, as i'm not used to hearing anything unless i'm getting close to finding a terrier (mk 1). i've heard that the box has to be laid flat in search mode, is this right ?, and in the position the same as you would use a mk 1 box in locate ? so anyone with any tips etc, it would be appreciated.
  7. only about 12 mile away, but i've spoken to him in the past seems a decent fella but he comes across as the type of man that only breeds a pup when he needs one himself
  8. I heard he'd not had much to do with terriers for a while but has just recently started up again as far as i know he has always had terriers

    Fox

i would expect a dog to be dispatching foxes single handed regulary before the age of 2, i know some dogs take longer to click than others but there not my cup of tea. i know of a strain that were killing foxes (pre ban) single handed at around ten month old but imo its only right to try them when your 100% sure there ready
  10. does'nt anyone rate Parkes bred terriers ? it just seems that everyone wants Gould or Middleton bred terriers lately, which imo are churning litters out for fun probably due to the high demand , does mr Parkes only breed for his own use or close friends ? as they dont seem to be very popular, i dont know why not though because the few that i've seen work have been absolutely spot on when it comes to earth work
  11. does anyone know of anywhere that still has some battery caps for the deben 15 ft terrier collars, there like rocking horse shite now but i need one deperately
  12. as big as you can get away with, bigger the better
  13. theres plenty of "white dog shit" here, i have to clean it out of the pens everday my dogs are fed mainly on raw meat and bones so i think this is the cause of "white shit" not many people visit the local butchers much nowadays, because its easier to get all the shopping from one place the supermarket, and imo thats probably why a lot of dogs wont be getting bones very often
  14. if the earth cant be dug and the quarry wont bolt, then eventually the terrier is gonna be sickened anyway, but maybe he killed is quarry, or maybe the quarry had moved on and the terrier could'nt get ?
  15. i've just been looking at the members list, at the first registered members (sept 04) wondering really who is still here and who is'nt then i noticed that Shaun V, Geordie, BullCross and most recently Trev have'nt been on for a while, so does anyone know whats happened to them ??? a shame really because i think they all contributed some great posts to this site, infact Trev was like an encylopedia when it came to health matters

    Defenders

joeb i think there a little bit more comfy these days
  17. here's a couple of pics from yesterdays game bird protection , we had 3 nice easy digs . p.s the lurcher was only used for marking earths, but we allowed him to have a rag after the quarry had been dispatched
  18. i gave up trying with that site, i was registered, then i had to re register which i did but never recieved a conformation email, then i tried again and it said it was'nt accepting any new members ?
  19. i don't really do much with terriers these days but from what i've seen over the years i think "Parkes" bred terriers are very good grafters. myself i like russels and have seen some tidy "Gould" bred russels work. but imo looks should'nt even be considered, work should be the only priority
  20. my old man as always used H&N FIELD TARGET TROPHY or RWS SUPERDOME, he would'nt use anything else.
  21. all joking aside that will probably be the next step, because now people are being made to prove that they shot there quarry, should'nt it be the other way round (prove they were'nt shot). so if this is the rule from now on with foxes, deer, hares etc why not ask people who have been out and killed a rabbit to prove it was killed within the law on permission ? whats the difference ?
  22. the fox every time for me
