  1. just a few pics of Brin & Diesel on there first little mooch together just before dark
  2. he's coming up 4 y/o, in his prime i think
  3. to be honest i keep forgetting he's a first cross, he's a lot faster than the half cross bulls i've had and can turn aswell, the thing i like most about him is he wants to catch stuff if you know what i mean, he really throws himself at his quarry and is lethal when they get near cover. he dispatches stuff far better than most dogs i've owned, a very clever dog. the ground is a lot softer now than what he has been running on so he should be even better on his next outings and once he's running fit he'll be a dream to watch. his stamina seems ok and can only get better with fitness, as for d
  4. i have the chance of getting a young 3/8 greyhound 5/8 bull obviously there gonna be limited but i can see them having there uses. anyway i was just wondering if anyone had any pics of one ? or if anyone had used one before ? all comments appreciated good and bad
  5. not at all mate, i have had and seen some very good ones in the past but theres far more shite about than there is good, same with any breed i suppose. this is the first wheaton cross i've had and to be honest i cant fault the dog, thats the reason why i got the pup out of him, i would have another well bred wheaton cross in a second though .
  6. i would'nt mind a bitch pup from that breeding, i've heard good things about the bitch, we will have to arrange a night out lamping later in the season so you can see him wreck a bit of stuff . p.s hows the bitch i heard she's had a bad injury recently ?
  7. i took him to the vets today to get him jabbed as he had'nt been done, i was shocked when he was weighed at 38 lb, hopefully he's gonna be a decent size like his sire

    Reptiles and co

i have 2 spur thighed tortoises
  9. picked this pup up today he is out of a greyhound bitch to the first cross wheaton greyhound i have now, making him 3/4 greyhound 1/4 wheaton, he's 4 1/2 month old now, and will be around 16 month old at the start of next season which i think is ideal. Diesel
  10. no mate, but i know who you mean, he likes massive bull crosses does'nt he ?
  11. theres plenty of good dogs around here, and if someone is left without for whatever reason then theres a good chance of finding a decent replacement, i've parted with some very good dogs in the past, mainly to help someone out, plus i dont keep as many as i used to do these days either
  12. Eight people arrested for deer poaching Thursday, 9.10am - Eight people were arrested on suspicion of deer poaching near Colsterworth in the early hours of Monday. A member of the public called police at about 1.30am after spotting two vehicles in a field in Honey Pot Lane. Officers went to the field, but found the vehicles had already left the area. A search was made and a silver Mitsubishi L200 pick-up truck and a white Subaru Legacy Estate, both containing four people, were stopped on the A151 near Grimsthorpe. Seven men and one woman, all from the Barnsley area of
  13. i think you can get away with 30x9.50x15 without any mods, mine has got 31x10.50x15 grizzly claws on but it has had a 2 inch lift and is fitted with 32mm wheel spacers to stop it catching anywhere, its a commercial and has a 5.5 ton winch fitted to the front aswell just incase
  14. i'm not up on genetics... but i do know he a first cross....it would'nt make a bit of difference to me though if he was'nt as long as it does what i want it for.. there is pups out of this dog to a pure greyhound that are all a sandy colour though.
  15. he's definately a first cross...i know the man that bred him out of a well known and very game wheaton dog from ireland..i know most are a bit on the small side as i've seen a few around 22"-24" but i was talking to a bloke in ireland that had a few from 26" upwards but i cant vouch for whether these were genuine first crosses. p.s his litter sister is 24 1/2" ats but i'm told he has a litter brother around the same size.
  16. i've just recently got a first cross wheaton/greyhound and its the first one i've seen work...i cant speek for others but the one i own is a very capable dog... so much so i'm thinking of getting a couple more wheaton crosses for next season
  17. well things did'nt work out to good with " Alf " he had the gameness but lacked the speed and just could'nt turn.. so i was lucky enough to buy this dog in from a mate of mine... he's a genuine first cross wheaton/greyhound and is 28" ats, he takes all quarry with ease, and i can honestly say he does this better than 90% of bull crosses i have seen over the last few seasons..
  18. right lads i've been off line for a while so i'll try and make things a little clearer than they seem to be at the mo... the lads were on there way back from a normal nights lamping and were checking the last of the fields on the route home when Martin spotted something in the beam, he then give the driver the word and they were onto it in no time, they then slowed the car right down and let a dog out....then they set off again in the subaru, as the quarry turned so did they and the car rolled over (once) and landed back on its wheels, martin was out of the car and on his knees about ten feet
  19. it would look a lot better with a bit of mud and blood on it
  20. i suppose that depends on how easy he is killing them ? if he's killing them easy without taking any stick let him have a couple just dont over do it you dont want to spoil him.
  21. it all depends on the dog itself, how mature is it, how well bred is it, condition etc, what has it been like on its previous foxes. i like to give them a few doubled up when starting them, but i suppose i start them a bit early depending on how old they are when the season comes around. yours should be perfect to start the season off with plenty of easy foxes (cubs) then let him have a few decent ones towards the back end of the season. i have a young dog here that is getting everything single handed (when i go to ireland lamping) now, he's in the process of learning the knack at the mo,
  22. good luck with him mate, take it steady there to easy to sicken at that age
  23. 3/4 greyhound 1/4 hyena would suit my needs
