  1. I'll give you £60 posted. PM me if you want to sell.
  2. Great pics I've seen some brilliant terriers in the beating line, lovely steady pace & don't go to far away. The fun usually starts when ground game gets up though Many a chase with the dog in full cry.
  3. Not being funny but has she had anything to point?
  4. I use getting in an out of the car as a start, just like you. I also use every chance I get when out and about. Crossing a fallen log, give the command. The pup isn't really jumping, more scrambling at this stage. I wouldn't be in to much of a rush to teach jumpimg as you can use a fence to your advantage later on in steadying up the dog to dummies. That said I've a 10month cocker that is now going over 6ft walls!!! Cant stop the mad thing, she loves it
  5. When I have a 8 week cocker pup (another one coming at the end of the month ) I tend to keep it in a cage in my house for the 1st month.(Of course it does get let out ) It gets longer & longer periods in the outside kennels during the day but comes in at night. I find I can control it's feed far better if I keep it alone. I like to free feed my pups so they can eat when they want apart from at night. I also find i'm more likely to go and play with the pup if it's in my kitchen rather than outside. I did one put a 8 week pup straight in the kennel & it never came ins
  6. There are lots of rabbit pens you can pay to use in the UK at least. Got anywhere in mind?
  7. i have 2 red girl, both watch tv. i think they also like very much, noel edmund program. I take it you just had time to kill and thought you would use it posting sh1te ?
  8. What you looking to use her for etc. I might be able to help
  9. Probably the No1 breeding line for labs in the UK. John & Sandra Halstead (the owners) are based in Lancs. John runs the England Team at the CLA if you fancy watching him in action
  10. One of the Olympic pistols has just been banned. 0.38 model I think The olympic 8 version are cr@p. They fall to bits in no time. (I went through 2 in a couple of years) I have recently bought the EMGE 6 shot. Made in Germany and a quality piece of kit. Solid construction and no misfires. Worth the extra few quid
  11. Introduce the puppy to the birds from day one & get them used to each other.
  12. Being a women won't make any difference to how you get on. Get your dog & yourself good enough and you have as much chance as anyone else. If you've never even seen a test / trial (2 completely different things) then I suggest you get along & watch a few. You might decide it's not for you but at least you won't have wasted time & money joining clubs. Good Luck
  13. If it's never going in kennels I'd give them a miss. I now have my dogs done at pup & year 1. I keep wormer, flea treatment , general health well up to date though
  14. What he said Don't be pushing your dog into to much thick cover too young
  15. If Nicola gives it the then get it bought !!!
  16. Nice dogs, though I do prefer the GWP. do your birds need a pointer or are they hawks? Nice garden does it hold much game? The dog can / will learn to shorten it's beat if the ground is not open. Though it's better to run then in woodland ONLY after they have become experienced on open ground (especially if you want to trial) For me, you can train a spaniel / lab with limited game but to really do an HPR justice they really need to been on game. Good Luck & stick some pics up when you get it.
  17. I'd hold back on plans to trial if your going to do "a bit of pointing" & retrieving dummys. You would have to do far more, including shooting over the dog if you hope to trial. Setters used to be trained to hold on point until both the dog and birds were netted. don't think anyone does it now, and doesn't really work unless you have a grouse moor and lots of staff!!! I'd seriously think again why your getting a GSP. Fine dog but I doubt you have the sport to provide it with work?
  18. Slightly different for me hily, i'd say I was a dog with a gun rather than the other way round. Trying to find good rough shoots that suit the dogs (both in terms of the ground and the attitude of the other guns) is more important (& difficult) to me. Dogs at different stages of their life do different things for me but ideally they would be out on "walked-up / rough shots everyday if possible.
  19. For me.........vital. I seek out and aim to get the "best" pedigree dogs I can get hold of. Does it give me any guarantees ? No but it hopefully gives me some sort of base level to start from. I want to trial my dogs so KC Registered is a must. That said I wish it was more like the terrier lads who just know the good dogs through word of mouth or better still having seen them work. Terrier lads (& lassies) seem to give the best pups to mates etc & keep the quality to those who will use it. Price isn't the answer for these lads and gundog people could do worse than follow their exam
  20. Do not let a Vet chip your pups at the same age they get docked (2-3days) The chipping can take place at 12 weeks for the new owner. If your bitch is a working bitch then I suggest you leave your vet if they won't do it. Sadly I don't know your area to suggest another but get out the Yellow pages and ring round.
  21. won't the vet your bitch is registered under do them?
  22. Depends on their age really If their very young I'd just gently take it from them and say nothing. If they are older & experienced I'd tell them to "leave it" before they picked it up.
  23. Nice pup Hendo Did you breed her or buy her in? Is it hard getting hold of good "working" clumber stock?
  24. Have a look at all the pro spaniel trainers. I think I'll follow their lead My dogs don't jump up on OTHER people. I don't worry about wet clothes as I only see my dogs when I have my "dog" clothes on. Then again if I wanted a pet
