  1. And we thought Whin was bad...............
  2. Often see lots at this time of year; watch their numbers plummet now the grass has stopped growing..... Let's hope there are a good few about come winter; I've recently found a couple of good spots to run out the nets. In my experience, good rabbit land will always look like good rabbit ground at this time of year. The fact that there are lots there now doesn't mean that no-one has the shooting. You'll find most of the best land in Devon and Dorset is used for gameshooting. Good luck with the hunt for permission though
  3. Totally incorrect in the UK. Cats belong to their owners regardless of where they happen to be, and to add insult to injury, their owners cannot be held liable for their actions. I'm not sure how sensible the OP is in openly admitting intent to kill cats on the forum... the next time a cat goes missing in the vicinity he could find himself answering some difficult questions. Given the fact that this is a commercial farm; I'd suggest the OP tells his employer to contact the NFU for advice and support. The police are duty bound to investigate any crime committed, and the killing o
  4. What's the 'mamilian pest species' please Pledgey? I'd love to know, as it's a piece of legislation I've not heard of...... Cats are property, and their owners cannot be held legally liable for their actions. If you kill one thinking that it's feral, the onus is on you to prove that you've taken reasonable measures to ensure that it is actually feral.
  5. Just to clarify; I would not recommend that anyone does what I did Quite recently, a neighbour in Devon caught a dog worrying sheep. Dog was caught and put into the back of a landrover until the police arrived. The constable asked the owner to sign the dog over to them and took it straight to the vets to be destroyed. Less than a fortnight later, the person concerned got another dog. As someone has quite rightly pointed out; there is no legal right to shoot a dog. What there is, is a legal defence that a dog was shot. A subtle, but important difference
  6. Yes, frequently. I've had contracts to control rabbits and moles on recreation grounds, graveyards, schools, landfill sites and all sorts of places. Health and Safety can be an issue; but only if you let it. Luckily, I have a good H&S qualification, so I rarely get intimidated by the jobsworths...
  7. I've voted Tory all my life, but I'll never do it again Cameron entering into 'social engineering' is what has finally done it for me. The idea of queers getting 'married' just disgusts me. The Conservatives always stood for free enterprise and social responsibilities, but now they are just as bad as the rest of them and will do anything and say anything that they think will add to their own popularity. I may vote UKIP, but some of their candidates are tits, so my vote is available to anyone who makes the right noises except that shower of shite the BNP.
  8. No, it's rabbits and hares only. Ground Game Act 1881.
  9. You can only shoot a dog worrying livestock as a last resort and if you do you must report your action within 48 hours to the police. There are also issues around the conditions of your FAC. Cats may not be shot unless you can show that you've taken all reasonable measures to ensure that they are feral. Cats are the property of their owners, who cannot be held liable for damage they've caused. I've had this very situation myself, and actually caught a dog and put it in the kennels until the owner agreed to pay compensation. Be very, very careful before you decide to get the gu
  10. The size will depend on which species of bat it is. Most commonly, bat droppings are confused with mouse droppings, not rat. As someone has already suggested; break a dropping in half; bat droppings are 'fibrous' unlike rodent droppings.

    Report Button

I have to work at it I have some 'mentors' on here who I study at length and try and imitate whenever possible
  12. Utter rubbish. Cats are property, and even though their owners cannot be held liable for their actions (unlike dogs) they remain private property. Feral cats can be killed; but not by dogs, and you have to be able to prove that you've taken 'reasonable measures' to make sure they are actually feral and not just wandering pets. There must be more to this case than meets the eye I can't see anyone getting a ban on keeping dogs for one 'accident'.

    Report Button

Please stop repeating that nonsense! The moderators all work together, and I can assure you that Tommy would warn his mates just as quickly as anyone else As Simon says (isn't that a game? ) the forum is only as good as the members make it. If you report something we'll look at it.
  15. Right. That'll do. If you want to moan, moan at me, because it's me that's locking this one
  16. dont be frightened??? did you not ban somebody lastnite for talking out against your pals tommy?? No Tommy didn't. Enough now lads; either play nicely or not at all.
  17. That's part of the problem Daz. When you say that you 'speak out' what you actually mean is that you get embroiled in pointless and petty arguments. It would be much better to report any issues either by using the report function, or via PM. And yes, you are right, I'm not popular, but then that's not why I'm here.....
  18. Can I ask why if you've seen posts that you think warranted warnings or bans, you haven't reported them? i personally thought it was just a bit of an argument, an nobody was doing anything wrong, insults were thrown granted, but from all partys as far as i could see, id a left them get on with it, but to ban 1 out of a group arguing just aint fair imo, from where i was sitting there was 1 member arguin with 3 other members who are all mates an yet only 1 was banned, an it wasnt 1 of the clique, thats for sure You see, there we go again..... 19. Can I ask why if you've seen posts that you think warranted warnings or bans, you haven't reported them? some people on here if you reported them your days would be numbered that just the way it is Care to explain that comment? Why would anyone's days be numbered if you reported them? We've all got a responsibility to keep the forum clean, tidy, and free of bullshit and bitchfests. Use the report function and let the moderators take the flak.

  22. I'm surprised to hear this. I've known Pat for years, and this is the first time I've ever heard anything negative about them. They do lots of shows each year, and often get in bargain deals for the shows. I suppose that could be the stuff he's advertising on CMW. Give him a ring and ask him for a deal with the cheaper stuff if that's what you want. One thing I know for certain, and that is they wouldn't knowingly rip anyone off. I suspect it's just a bit of confusion both ways
  23. Are they the real McCoy? Because £18.99 for 5 traps seems silly cheap for genuine Fenns or Springers. And looking at the picture on the website they don't look like either manufacturers trap...... Well spotted. They are FAKES and not approved for use in the UK. I think it's Altantic, who often sell cheap far eastern imports. A couple of years ago at a gamefair the 'magnums' they were selling were falling apart when you picked them up! Update for those waiting for news on my elusive box of Fenns; I've not found them yet, but I'm still looking when it's cool enough
  24. As traps for moles are exempt from the Spring Trap Approval Orders, they are perfectly legal for use against moles in the UK
