  1. I'll have a dig around... it's all pre-marriage photos, so they're probably buried under a load of equestrian shite........ Build was heavy and tall. 26tts or even 28tts mostly.... I've got a picture of the old bitch playing around with pups here somewhere......
  2. One little story for you.... Around twenty years ago I had the contract to control moles on a famous north Devon estate. At the time, I had a subaru brat, and my old lurcher bitch used to ride in the back every day while I rattled round doing the mole job. One day, while my back was turned, a small herd of red hinds crossed the field in front of where I was parked up. I was busy putting baited worms into the ground, so wasn't really paying much attention until I heard the unmistakable sound of a big dog going full tilt across the field (a bit like a horse galloping by ) I put the
  3. Any old pictures mate ?? I've got some pictures of my old bitch around somewhere, but it would involve getting the scanner fired up.... If you want pictures of dogs with quarry forget it. This was all pre-digital camera days, and the blokes I knocked around with at that time wouldn't have been too keen on being photographed....
  4. Can it be done? Yes. I've seen it with my own eyes, and I owned a local type dog that was capable. The favourite cross in my part of the world was (and still is) alsation/greyhound. The best dog I ever saw on the job was 'Roscoe', who could take big boys down single handed. This was all daytime of course; as lamping deer has always been illegal......
  5. As Malt says, all land is owned by someone, regardless of public footpaths. You should also bear in mind the exemption in the hunting act that allows hunting of rabbits is null and void if you don't have permission. If you've got a dog with you you could be done for illegal hunting, and could then potentially wave goodbye to all your kit, your animals, and the vehicle you've used to get there. If you were contemplating a bit of covert ferreting without permission, telling everyone about it on the internet is not very intelligent.
  6. There is a huge difference between driving around on cut silage fields or grazing fields, and smashing/cutting your way into drillings to drive all over them. The drivers are causing massive problems around here; farmers now have a zero tolerance policy towards anyone with a running dog due to the inconsiderate behaviour of a few. There is no doubt in my mind that you can cover much more ground, and therefore see much more quarry with the aid of a vehicle. Quad is the way to go IMO these days...
  7. Just a reminder; taking deer with dogs at night was illegal before the hunting ban..... A few folks need to calm down a little; it's a perfectly reasonable subject for discussion, but as usual, cocks have to be waved around...
  8. When it comes to selling preparations, the suppliers don't have a big mark-up and it's a very competitive market. They make most of their money from the non-chemical goods they sell.
  9. Yes. Old freezers are ideal because they offer bunding to contain spillage and are also very well insulated which helps keep products fresh. I also use a cool box to transport insecticides in the van; I'm not sure how many people realise that products like Ficam are ruined by extremes of temperature both high and low.
  10. Now 61/39 We need more votes! http://www.westernmorningnews.co.uk/polls
  11. 68/32 now. Keep up the good work, and spread the word please These antis can't be allowed to get away with it!
  12. You've got to remember that if they turn over more than 75k they have to charge VAT by law. Given the low mark ups on some pest control preparations, it's hardly surprising they have to charge it. In fact, if they don't charge VAT then you should be worried
  13. It was 83% an hour ago. The buggers are fixing it!
  14. It's not closed; the number is going down by the minute.... I'm not sure what is going on; just looked using a different browser and it's the same
  15. It could be because it's a link to where I voted. Can someone google it and post a link before voting please?
  16. I'm asking for help here... The Western Morning News were running an on-line poll on the badgercull which was going well until the antis found it and spread the word amongst themselves. They've now 'rallied' the troops and have got people voting against the cull from all over the world. Please help right this wrong by voting. http://www.westernmorningnews.co.uk/polls

  17. OK, fair enough Kranky... I don't think you are a moron, and if I've said that then I apologise And no, I'm not suggesting that people kill cats discretely or otherwise. I think everyone has had a good say on this one; time to lock up. If anyone wants it unlocked drop me a PM.
  18. Why would I urge caution? Simple answer; because certain things were said about me on that forum that were incorrect. In fact, they were so incorrect, that I had to involve a solicitor to get them removed. It's not a threat of any sort; I was simply urging you to show caution and restraint, and not do what J did on his forum which resulted in it being pulled and him being under the real threat of legal action. I adopt the same attitude wherever I am, and while I appreciate it isn't to everyone's liking, I am what I am, and I'm not about to start apologising for it.
  19. Kranky, the fact that the RSPCA chose not to pursue you doesn't make it legal. Yes, I was a member of JS until Justin got upset about me asking if it really was sensible posting about killing game out of season. Why? (and I'd urge caution here).
  20. How about you provide the laws that you quoted prior to my post? You started to produce facts about law without any evidence, first. I am prepared to stand up in front of a magistrate and tell them that I killed a cat that was on my property. It would never be heard before a magistrate and would never get to court. Provide evidence of one case where it has happened. Please don't come on here giving such poor advice because your hand hovers over the delete or ban button and you believe you have the right to be sanctimonious and no one should question you. Maybe you should report
  21. If you want to know about the law, the last person to ask is a copper At a dinner do one night the question of speed limits popped up. I knew the limit on a dual carriageway was 70mph, but they wouldn't have it. Anyway, one of the idiots around the table decided it would be a good idea to ring the copshop and ask them...... Guess what? They said it was 60mph........... You couldn't make it up!
  22. No. Had that very situation here a little while ago when one of my labs got knocked over. It's the Road Traffic Act that specifies what you have to report.
  23. Again, please show evidence of these 'facts' you are quoting. What would be the point of involving the police in the case of a cat? Their owners cannot be held liable in law for the actions of their animals. If you trap them and take them to the RSPCA or whoever, you could be liable for theft.
  24. Absolute tosh Show me these 'laws' you are quoting please Kranky. Here in the UK cats remain property regardless of where they are, or if they are wearing a collar. The only correct thing you've stated in that post is that you don't have to stop if you run one over; unlike dogs. And before you suggest it, the Abandonment of Animals Act was repealed some time ago.... Please, don't come on here giving such poor advice. The fact is, you are never allowed to willfully kill a cat unless you are prepared to stand up in court and explain to a magistrate what 'reasonable' measure
