  1. TB affects different animals in different ways. Badgers get it in the lungs and kidneys, and from there it's easily spread via sputum and urine. All those other species you mention can be controlled on infected farms; while farmers wave off cattle suspected of having TB, they have to tolerate an increasingly large badger population on their farms which is effectively harbouring the bacteria. The RBCT was flawed for a number of reasons; not least the fact that not enough badgers could be killed because of restrictions imposed on the fieldstaff by the ISG like having to base control aro
  2. Albert If you want to start a discussion thread, use the dedicated discussion areas of the board. As I wrote earlier, any sign of trouble and thread will go.
  3. PM is a good idea. Can I remind everyone that this area of the forum is to advertise shows and meet ups; NOT to discuss internal politics. Any sign of trouble and the thread will go.
  4. As per the other thread; this section of the forum is here to advertise shows and events, NOT to stir up trouble or start debates. Thread Locked.
  5. Given the fact that this section of the forum is dedicated to advertising shows and events, and not discussing peoples personal issues with organisations or other people, perhaps it's time to say goodnight. If you want to continue a personal slanging match, do it elsewhere. Threads like this do no-one any favours.
  6. I don't care about Lurcher racing or showing either I'll just sit here in the background deleting posts with text talk in them, and waiting to ban people who can't behave in a civil manner. Add me to the hate list if you please, I really couldn't care less
  7. Sadly, it's not illegal. The Abandonment of Animals Act was repealed. I wouldn't lie to a customer personally, but I can understand why people do. Whatever, just get em dead.
  8. As Nod says, releasing foxes is immoral. Either agree to do the job properly and dispatch the fox, or don't do it at all. Explain the difficulties to the customer and make sure you include the biosecurity issues and the fact that the stress caused to the animal will be unacceptable, and if they still won't budge, walk away.
  9. heard you was all walking round bs yard like it was crufts with your hands out spraffing lol ive got to be carefull on how I type I was banned for 3 days for using text talk A lesson you seem unable to learn from.....
  10. First piece of advice; Text Talk is banned.
  11. I don't think anyone has suggested otherwise Millet. The point Tom was making was that it's not technically legal to sell Ferals, nor is it legal to sell Rooks or Geese. There is no such thing as a 'pest list' these days; there is an open general licence to kill certain species in certain circumstances. For example, it would be legal to kill ferals where their droppings pose a health risk, but it would not be legal to do so to stop them crapping on your car. Non-lethal methods have to be considered first, but not actually tried out. It's also a myth that proofing is carried ou
  12. Technically, all birds are protected in the UK. The 'open general licence' allows for some species to be killed in certain situations. The W&C act also dictates which species can be sold. There was a prosecution quite recently where someone was selling Rooks to be eaten and was prosecuted for being in contravention of the W&C act. Woodpigeons, unlike feral pigeons can be sold into the food chain, as can some other game birds.
  13. OK, for some reason, photobucket have decided to change the IMG code to include a link. The easy way to sort it is to use the 'Direct' code, and manually put the IMG and /IMG (with the [ ] type brackets around it). Does that make sense?
  14. For some reason, the forum software is converting the IMG code into a link. Remove the url= bit, and it works fine.
  15. %5BIMG%5Dhttp://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh164/matrat1612/Photobucket2_zps9b105f59.png I see what you mean Mickey. Anyone got any ideas?
  16. You need to use the IMG code off photobucket.
  17. They were probably told to try not to kill them so that they could glean some information at a later date. All those people saying that the fuzz should've killed them on arrival are doing so with the benefit of hindsight. Just stop and imagine the response if one of the people passing by had managed to disarm the killers. Fuzz turn up and see a black man standing over a body and holding a knife and a meat cleaver and kill him stone dead. That would make him another dead hero in my book. No, I think that for once, the Met did the right thing.
  18. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but you will find that most professionals, and just about anyone who catches any number of rabbits will now be laughing at 'four finger' high snare sets. As Mr Tea Pot says, it depends on the terrain and foliage cover where you are setting, but I've rarely set at less than 7 inches except on fence lines. There are plenty of articles and topics in the FAQ section above.
  19. As feral pigeons are a public health pest, your landlord has a duty of care to you to ensure they are not jeopardizing your health. Report it to the Local Authority, and your landlord, and they can take action to stop people encouraging them into the area. Trying to shoot them in an urban situation is asking for trouble, and will have little effect if someone is feeding them.
  20. None of the 'repellers' work, sonic, pulsating or otherwise. The government tested a load a few years ago and confirmed what we already knew; they are a waste of money and have no impact. Why have you got rats? What's brought them there? It's no good just treating the symptoms with traps or dogs or even poison. You've got to get to the bottom of the problem and cut them off at source.
  21. I can't name names Snakey, but I do the fieldwork for a well known University who are often engaged by big chemical companies to test out products. The process starts off with some live catching to DNA test, then we do a census of the population, followed by a period of baiting. A second census is then carried out to see what percentage of the population has been killed. It's not as glamorous as it sounds, honest.
