  1. My pal had s sister to it called Go2, it still holds track records for 200 yards. A lad on here had two of Geoffs dogs that were amongst the first to break 8 seconds for 150 yards. Taysider had a dog bred by Beddy Dave sired by Geoffs dog, dam was beddy:whippet/greyhound that won the Scottish Lurcher Derby, Geoff could certainly breed a top class non-ped, I’ve seen quite a few. Cheers.
  2. No, they ran in all conditions. Cheers.
  3. Tay was Geoff Fletchers non-ped whippet grey wasn’t it ? He bred some top class non/peds, including this one, I used to enjoy talking to him. Cheers.
  4. I used to be a regular at the Border & Coquetdale Coursing Club in Northumberland. Greyhound coursing under NCC Rules , and they ran on all grounds, coastal arable, high fells, pasture land and on the land where the greatest coursing greyhound of all time, Fullerton , was raised and trained at Shortflat Farm , sadly now a hotel. Still great , varied coursing land. Cheers.
  5. We handicap whippets and greyhounds at 6/100ths of a second per yard; so a ten yard or”length” win would equate to 0:6 of a second. Dogs have got faster over the years , so you could use 5/100ths of a second per yard, which would be half a second for ten lengths. Its generally the rule that whippets and greyhounds run 16 yards per second, obviously some are faster, some are slower, but a decent handicapper generally gets it right, while a good dog man will do his best to beat the handicapper Ive been on both sides of the game, Cheers.
  6. There will be thousands of people at the greyhound racing tonight. There will be thousands of people at the whippet racing this weekend. Why ? Because they are the fastest dogs. There will be no Salukis or coursing breds in these races simply because they are not fast enough. Please, PLEASE , don’t start going on about slop or winter or black stuff, I’m simply stating a fact. Cheers.
  7. The big man seems a bit better after what happened to his dog, I look forward to seeing him Cheers.
  8. I’ll be over after Xmas to see the big man , the Armagh Sniper and Gerard, I’d of been over sooner but unforeseen circumstances have forced a change of plans, I hope you’ll still show an old man some sport on the foxes and maybe other quarry Cheers.
  9. That photo should be kept for posterity so old men can show their grand and great grandchildren what it was like when we could hunt without persecution……. Cheers.
  10. Always mate, I’m way past worrying about things. A good night local last night with the bitch, a nervy win for Newcastle tonight, now enjoying a glass of wine with some music on the old stereo gram and some coursing on the telly ! Cheers.
  11. Chillin’ with the big lass in the man cave; Cheers.
  12. That’s why they were put to Salukis, to slow them down a bit ! Cheers.
  13. “And a partridge in a pear tree” ? ’Tis the season All the best mate Cheers.
  14. I judge it by standing on the scratch, (start), line at the whippet racing and looking up to the finish line, 150 yards. slipping a dog at more than three times that distance ? C’mon Or watching a 470 yard greyhound race….. slipping a dog at more than that distance ? Again, c’mon I’ve heard lads say they slipped on a rabbit at 500yards, FFS, I’ve paced it out and it’s more like 100 ! Cheers.
  15. Where was the security ? Cheers.
  16. I certainly think Shashi kept his speed for the final, the way he won the run up, turned the hare 180 degrees and picked it up on the run . A worthy winner in my mind Cheers.
  17. Anyone here went to the last Waterloo cup ? I remember the start of the first day being delayed because of the frost and the rock hard ground. By the third day the conditions had changed dramatically and there were huge pools of water on Altcar. That saluki type that was slipped on a spent hare killed it in a huge pool of water right in front of me, I videod it . Hard to believe it was 20 years ago ! Cheers.
  18. It couldn’t happen under NCC rules, it’s whippet v whippet, greyhound v greyhound, saluki v saluki, deerhound v deerhound, etc. Of course a match could be held between a coursing bred and a whippet using NCC rules, and it would be interesting given the points system where the “kill” isn’t as important as it is in single handed coursing, but I’d guess a coursing bred would probably win, but that’s not the point, so called “proper” coursing is about matching same types to find the best of that type, as I said, two different versions of the same sport. Cheers.
  19. Indian Joes dam was pure greyhound and his sire was quarter greyhound . He was a bit of a freak for so much greyhound in him. He won Racing Championships on both bends and straights and run at about 30 lb weight. I never saw him on a hare, but plenty people I trust say he did them as you say Cheers.
  20. Wasn’t Bob sired by Indian Joe, non-ped x greyhound ? Cheers.
  21. Just being a bit pedantic now, and not having a pop at anyone; but if someone says “proper coursing” , I automatically think of coursing under NCC rules, which IS dog v dog, not dog v hare, as is evident by the scoring system. I get what Fens means, his version of “proper coursing” is I think, coursing bred dog single handed against a hare. Which is fine, I’ve done and vastly enjoy both, but they are different versions of the same sport. Id guess, but don’t know, that GL does both versions with his whippets, but thinks like me that “proper coursing” is organised coursing under rules.
  22. The Toyota Champ is just that; Under $10,000, but sadly not available here or I’d have one . Cheers.
  23. “Suits you, sir” Cheers.
  24. Just my opinion, Wilf, but I think digital ID will quietly be dropped due to cost and public opinion. It’s not due to be introduced until 28/29 and Labour will be out of power by then. As for jury trials, Lammy is appearing to back track and water down his proposals right now. He probably realised, or more likely had been told, it wasn’t in Labours manifesto and the Lords will do everything to block and delay it, and again, Labour will be out of power by then. Just my views, but It won’t stop Labour coming back with more “socialist” policies. Cheers.
  25. They would have, when the OBR reported before THEIR budgets, but the OBR report on next years finances is based on the last Labour budget. The OBR gives its forecasts before every budget. They give the forecast to the government who are producing the budget, not the opposition parties. What was taken into account is the projected downturn in productivity for next year, and the increase in revenue from the tax take from Labours last budget. As I said, lower productivity projected for NEXT year will result in a drop of £16 billion, BUT increased tax revenue from Labours previous b
