  1. Wern't Trailhouds origionaly Foxhounds with Greyhound blood added to give them more speed ? I've seen Trailhounds quite a few times and watching them run over the fell tops and then sprint in to their owners is a good day out ! Cheers.
  2. I presently have one of each; a Lurcher to Lurcher cross, and a 1st cross Longdog, so I don't really have a preference. One thing though, you normaly have more of an idea how big, how it will look, etc, with a 1st cross. But nothing wrong with Lurcher x Lurcher ! Cheers.
  3. I would say use a coursing Greyhound..... but the simple fact is there are 1000 racing Greyhounds to every one, (genuine), Coursing Greyhound. Best of luck. Cheers.
  4. So to comply with all these insane H & S rules would mean the end of the Club and Hunt shows ? I hope the change in government will repeal all these crazy P.C. rules and let us get back to enjoying ourselves !! Cheers.
  5. Just a comment on the brindle/judge subject; I've seen the lad judge a couple of times, and think he is an honest judge who genuinely works his own dogs, unlike a lot of judges. Yes there were a few brindle dogs winning, including two of mine, but looking around the show there seemed to be an awful lot of brindles around, more than usual, and some very nice examples. I can't see how the judge was baised when he gave a very nice light fawn dog the puppy championship, (deservedly), over my brindle bitch. No complaints about the judging or the show from me. Cheers.
  6. Bosun, I can see where your'e coming from; but in Oz they have a different outlook to pests from us. They built a fence thousands of miles long to keep Dingo's away from stock. They can't understand the oposition to killing feral cats that we have here; feral cats are, I think the number 2 pest down there. Foxes and magpies are very high on the list of pests aswell. I've taken feral dogs, with pure Saluki's, in the Middle East, but never went out especialy for them, and never deliberatly entered a dog to them, but sometimes it just happened, they were classed as pests, just a we class foxes, (
  7. A freind who I sometimes stay with when I'm in Australia, had a Dingo; I suppose you could have called it domesticated, and it was human freindly, but it was completely untrainable and unbiddable. It could only be let of the lead in an enclosed area. It lived with and was on good terms with a Westie. One problem with it was when walking it in public, people were VERY wary of it !! Cheers. P.S. When were you in Saudi ? I was there for 26 years, we may hay mutual aquaintances !
  8. They are Bullarab's mate. Well known hunting dogs in Australia. Cheers.
  9. This guy obviously thinks so !!! Cheers.
  10. A great show and a great day out, as usual ! I had Reserve Puppy Champion with my Deer/Grey pup Lima, and won the Rough Bitch class with my Lurcher Delta. Met up with lots of old pals, and put faces to names with some others ! One of the very best shows going ! Cheers.
  11. i didnt say 1ml for a lurcher,i said 1ml for every 25kg in weight so depending on the weight of your lurcher you dose it accordinly. for livestock the dose is given a week intervals for up to 6 weeks depending on what livestock your treating and how badly its affected. usually its given for 6 weeks with sheep. for a dog then 2 treatments is enough. the back of the bottle tells ya nothing about doeses for dogs by the way and it just comes with experience of using it on them and i find 2 treatments to be addaquite. iv never had a flea or tick on mine ever so the dosage i give mine seem to b

  14. Thanks for that; how is it applied..topically, orally or injection ? Cheers.
  15. it does mate very good stuff, kills everything You obviously have used it, is it available "over the counter", and how critical is the dosage ? I'm very interested in it; only heard of it, never used it. Cheers.
  16. Ivomectim is a steroid based treatment; so I'm not sure how it cures worm and flea infestation ? Cheers.
  17. As I've said time and time again; if you are worried about a dogs health or wellbeing...... GET IT TO A VET !!! They are the professionals; it's their job. Mange can run thru' a kennel like wildfire !! It can ruin your dogs; and ruin your reputation as a dog man ! Nothing wrong with asking advice on here, there's some top dog lads, but they are not vets. All the best with your dog. Cheers.
  18. Here you go; http://www.deben.com/lights_lamping/batteries/lithium_ion_battery_pack.php# Cheers.
  19. Dan, your sport is safe as long as there is people like yourself and the "Ole Boy", same in Australia and New Zealand, there are people keeping it going, but they haven't been fooled by voting in a Labour/Socialist/Communist government !! We have been stuffed by politics !! I doubt if this country will ever get back to where it was, concerning hunting; I hope you guys don't fall into the same trap !! Cheers.
  20. The only man I know more argumentative thanme !! LOL !!!

  21. The one's that were fed right, brought up right, entered right, kenneled right and looked after right ! Cheers.
  22. I ran a 23" Greyhound bitch in a few "No Limit" non ped scratch races over 150 yards in '71-'72, and some of the half cross Grews could beat her; but when they tried to match her around 2 bends, 270 yards, she beat them fairly easily. Now, 23" wouldn't be out of place for a Non Ped Whippet ! Cheers.
  23. He came to Newcastle, (Lemington area), to talk to lads about their miniature Jack Russels, and possibly buy some; after about 15 minutes of his B.S., they laughed him out of the bar !! This was about 30 years go, they still laugh about it now ! Cheers.
  24. I have 1st editions of "The Whippet", by Douglas -Todd, and "The English Whippet" by Walsh & Lowe; both good reads. Cheers.
