  1. I keep having a look.... N Billy was a Deer X man, back in the days of the Boar Dog Forum; don't know what he's got now ? Not saluki's, surely ????? Cheersw.
  2. Second best, mate, second best !!!! LOL !!!!! Cheers.
  3. Davey; I've only shown Lima 3 times..... 1st time I thought I was odd's on to win the Championship. The judge decided to "keep it in the family", and Lima got Reserve. 2nd time I showed her, I realy liked the dog she was up against in the final, and I thought the judge made the right decision, and she was Reserve again. 3rd show, I thought she was outstanding in the final, and the judge agreed ! Supreme Champion ! Point I'm trying to make is; some you win, some you lose fairly, and some you get cheated !!!! It's all part of showing a dog ! LOL ! Cheers.
  4. Davey, I don't know what happened at that show, as I wasn't there. But I've seen some strange judging; where a dog didn't get placed in it's class, then won a "specialist" class and went on to beat the dog that beat it in the origional class, in the final !! But at the end of the day, the judges decision must be accepted, he has went into the ring to do a job, usually for free, and only makes one freind; the winner !!! Cheers.
  5. Not the same bloke, mate ! The "Chipper" I know works everything from Terriers, Teckels, Hound X's to Lurchers !! A top dog man who is great to have a craic with. He's on here, so he'll probably reply when he see's the post. Cheers.
  6. COAT ????? Whats a coat ?????? Go down the Bigg Market on a Saturday night in December and see the lasses in their summer frocks !!! LOL !!! Cheers.
  7. thanks did not think it was that bad. what will they do?ano ur not a vet but a bit of info would be good thanks. If it's worrying you enough to ask for advice on here, a trip to the vet might be in order, no one can give you advice without seeing the injury. Cheers.
  8. I'm not talking "around the doors" mate... I'm on about the "Wilds o'Wanney" and out in the sticks ! LOL ! Cheers.
  9. Hmmmmm... It would be interesting to know how many of you have actualy grafted dogs up here ? Cheers.
  10. Far more and varied hunting down there than there is here ! Seasons are the opposite to ours! Join this site and have a word with the lads, they'll see you right !! http://www.ozziedoggers.org/forum/forums.html Cheers.
  11. I agree with Whin; if you want a dog PURELY for rabbiting, then 23" - 25" is about right,(of course there exception, both smaller and bigger). But if you want an all rounder to take everything from rabbit to deer, speaking theoreticaly, then a bit more size doesn't go amiss ! Cheers.
  12. My 29" Deer x pup grabbed a 1/2 grown rabbit out of the crops yesterday... then promptly swallowed it whole when the other bitch tried to take it off her !! Cheers.
  13. Saw a bitch at the Whippet track this morning, that had the nail and 1st joint of it's inside front toe removed. The vet saved the pad off the ist joint and brought it up over the end of the 2nd joint and it's healed perfectly, a fantastic job !! The vet is a Greyhound Specialist and it shows !!! The bitch is back to running her best after only a few weeks off. Cheers.
  14. What are you supprised about ! I have only spoke the truth ! And you have never, obviously, seen a hare shoot !!
  15. Any hare shoot I've seen, you can take as many as you want home.... the rest are dumped ! Shame, but that's what happens ! We "coursers", "lampers", "moochers"...whatever you want to call us..... It's what happens, hares get shot ! thats legal, running them with dogs isn't legal... Don't whinge about it on here, pressure youre MP, or vote Conservative next time !! Change the law... It's the only chance we will have !! Cheers.
  16. Had a very early morning run out with "Longdogrunner" and a couple of farmers on tractors tryed a "pincher" movement on us....we ran like f**k and came to a stream... LDR jumped it as a young lad would... I hesitated then jumped... LDR had his 'phone out and was laughing, the twat was recording it !! Thank f**k he was laughing so much he forgot to press "record" !! Cheers.
  17. As the Dubliners said, in the lyrics of Master M'gath, the Irish "breed Good Men And Dogs" My pup is sired by a good Northumberland Deerhound and out of a good Irish Greyhound, so I'm happy !! LOL !! Cheers.
  18. As with any injury that you aren't 100% confident in treating yourself.......... Take the dog to a Vet !! Cheers.
  19. Hmmm... The way I've allways understood it; Two Pure Breeds of the same breed = Pure Breed. Two dogs of different breeds mated for a specific purpose = Cross Breeds. Two dogs of different breeding mated by accident or for no specific purpose = Mongrel. Therefore a planned mating to produce Lurchers would not be "Mongrels"; but "Cross Breeds" ! JUST MY HUMBLE OPINION. CHEERS. nearly right two breeds makes a crossbreed any more in the cross its a mongrel Just to make it interesting, LOL !! What if you have a Saluki/Grey x Deer/Grey and you can trace all the forebears back for hundred

  21. No... we don't underestimate the capabilities of pups...we just underestimate the stupidity of some Lurcher owners ! Cheers. dont knock it until youve tried it. the dogs always seem to turn out o.k I would NEVER, EVER lamp a 3 - 4 month old pup, so there is no chance of me ever trying it ! Cheers.

  23. I've got a pup that's 11 1/2 month old...she won't have a serious run 'till the crops come down. You guy's who are running 3-4 month old pups...well you obviously haven't had running dogs before ! The sooner you move on to something else, the better !! Cheers.
