Change your vet ! I've never known a vet give a diagnosis over the 'phone; or pass up a consultation fee, for that matter ! Cheers.
-
I rate them..... Cheers.

If there is enough wire left on the battery plug, why not just attach it to the lamp wire ? Solder the wires together and use shrink fit insulation, done properly it should never come apart. If theres not enough wire on the plug, try Maplins for a new plug. Cheers.

In the old days of Whippet racing, there was two schools of thought about "breaking a dogs wind" ! One was that if you gave a sprinter a run or two on a hare, they would find that bit more lung capacity to run better on the track! (Which I happened to agree with). The other thought on "breaking a dogs wind" was to road walk only, and then run a dog on the track every time possible untill it's lungs were gone and it couldn't run again !! These were the "blown dogs"; the ones that ran a hare or two seemed to have great lung capacity and were great racing dogs ! Cheers.

There's an old saying; "The mind is willing, but the heart is weak"! A good, well bred Lurcher will run all day and give it's best, but if it's not fit and well fed and looked after, it will try 'til it's body can't do what it's mind wants it to ! Then they die, or are pased on as "jackers" !! You only get out of a dog what you put into it ! Cheers.

Rio, I think a dog can be "blown", from many causes. One of the finest looking dogs I've seen, collapsed a couple of years ago after taking a massive amount of rabbits. A very well known guy off the sites was there and tryed everything;mouth to mouth, chest massage no avail. The emergency vet saved it's life but it was blind and paraplegic, so was obviously PTS. The diagnosis was an anueism on the brain; basicaly a stroke. Some dogs will run 'till they kill themselves, some owners will run their dogs'till they kill them ! I'ts all about knowing when enoughs enough. Cheers.

I'd say a dog, (or any other mammall, come to that !), that ruptures a diaphragm is dead, simple as that ! Cheers.

Slightly off topic, but in Australia, line bred English Bull x Greyhounds, (bully Greyhounds), are very popular working dogs. This one was a fine example; Cheers.

I'm not one for posting "nice dog, pal"....... but, by christ, thats a nice dog, pal !!! Cheers.

Davey, believe it or not, but I've got a five year old bitch that I think is just coming into her best !! I talked to her breeder the other night and bragged about how she was getting better !! So don't worry to much about a 15 month old sapling ! He's got loads of time to proove himself, if you give him the chance ! Cheers.
-
Let's get this into perspective; this is a 15 month old first X Deerhound Greyhound ! It's only just starting, (or should be), they're not the cleverest breed and are renowned late starters, so give the dog a chance ! I have the litter sister to this dog, and am just starting her now,she came into season last month, or I would have started her earlier. She's learning from my other dogs, and I have high hopes for her, but I don't expect her to be a world beater, yet ! Davey, give him a chance, show him some game, take the rough with the smooth, he's got the breeding so I'm sure he'll come good
-
Look on any of his posts. His E Mail and phone # are on there. Cheers.

Here you go mate; Cheers.

Davey, for a F1 Deer/Grey, he's still young. I've only just started Lima on the lamp, and she hasn't done much daytime; I can see she's as green as grass, sounds like your dog is the same. Give him time mate, he'll come right ! Cheers.
-
Why would it be "awful" ? You breed a litter, some make the grade, some don't. There's never been a litter where they are all the best ! Cheers.

At a recent show, a woman entered her 9 month old blue merle collie cross into the "Working Lurcher" class !!! The judge asked what it had done; the owner said it had chased a rabbit !!! Of about 20 odd Lurchers, I doubt if more than two had done any graft !! And this was a qualifier for such shows as EDRD, Cock o' The North, etc !! Judges have a very hard job to do !!!! Cheers.

If you want to feed your dog the best; why not feed BARF, instead of this manufactured rubbish ? Cheers.
-
"What makes the best allrounder ?? " I think that is an unanswerable question ! Don't forget, a "Lurcher" can be anything from a Beddy x to a Wolfhound x! And what is meant by "allrounder" ? A running dog that can take all game it's slipped on... or a dog that can drive game into a longnet at night and take hare during the day ? There isn't a dog, nor has there ever been, that can do everything. The only hope is breed the best to the best, give it the best feeding, kenneling, training and entering, and hope for the best ! Cheers.

I'm a great supporter of Whippets, both ped and non-ped; but come on ! No way can a 24" 55lb dog be classed as a "Whippet" !!! Smaller Greyhounds have won the Waterloo Cup !! At least I can have this oppinion on here, unlike K9 where I was banned for voicing the same oppinion ! The BWRA sold it's soul when it upped the limit from 32lb to 55lb, just to accomodate the breeders who wanted to use Greyhound X's more and more ! Don't get me wrong; when I go to a straight open, it's to see the scratch dogs, but when I go to a bend open, it's to see the little 'uns run; I can see 55lb'ers run any time

Tommo, I think you're a top dog man !! But it's better you be a daddy, to that lovely bairn you've got and bring on that decent looking pup you've got !! Just joking mate, All the best !! Cheers
-
No, no , no, mate !! I said a dog that will take rabbits daytime, will have no problem taking them on the lamp !!! If you think I am wrong... OK.. you just carry on !! I'm not into an argument; youre pal Lamp & Battery is a top dog man, I know that, but don't be a young arsehole quoting guys who have done it !! Cheers.

Some of the best hare killers I've seen, (not hare coursers), were Whippet X Greyhounds. They couldn't run all day, like a Saluki X, but, boy could they take a hare !! Cheers.
