  1. Dan, Dan, Dan, !!!!!! You want me to put Saluki blood into my dogs ????? You know what I think about pencil knecked snakeheads !! LOL !!! Cheers. Saluki my ass. That's like sayin greyhounds have bulldog in them cuz somebody wrote it down in a book 100 years ago. That pic you put up looks like a snakehead to me !! May be a good dog thought.... Cheers.
  2. That would be great, if I could find a decent working one. Cheers.
  3. Dan, Dan, Dan, !!!!!! You want me to put Saluki blood into my dogs ????? You know what I think about pencil knecked snakeheads !! LOL !!! Cheers.
  4. Yes mate, there are some tremendous Grews around ! I go to the Whippet Racing most weekends and some of these Non-Ped Whippet x Greyhounds are unbelievably fast ! But the bitch is fast enough, and I'd just want to keep the speed but increase the size of the pups if possible ! Cheers.
  5. I probably won't mate her; I've never bred a litter in almost 45 years of owning running dogs, BUT.. If I was to, I wouldn't introduce another breed into the line; so would probably go against the current THL line of thinking and use a top class Greyhound, or a 1/4 beddy 3/4 grey or a 1/4 Deer 3/4 Grey ! Cheers.
  6. I agree Simo; I have in mind what I want, but thought I might get an interesting discussion goin. Cheers.
  7. Thanks for the reply, but wouldn't let a collie cross near her ! LOL ! Had Collie X before, and just not my type. Cheers.
  8. Just asking for a general opinion; I have a bitch, coming up six year old, Sire; 1st cross Beddy/Grey... Dam Deer/Grey x Whippet/Grey. Good all rounder, taken just about everything day and night. Good rough coat, good feet, stands 23". She's fast and has good wind. If I was to have her lined, I'd want all her attributes, plus a bit more hieght in the pups, I have in mind what I'd put her to, but would be interested to hear others opinions. Cheers.
  9. Is the big fella going to be a show dog during the summer, Davey ?? LOL !! Cheers.
  10. I'm sure the coursing lads will put me right; but way back in the Merlin and Eve lines, wasn't there Bedlington and Deerhound, as well as Saluki ? Cheers.
  11. So he's a Saluki/Greyhound Hybrid; not a pure Saluki x Saluki/Greyhound ? Looks very nice, good luck with him. Cheers.
  12. In Australia and New Zealand, feral cats are very high on the list of "unwanted predators" ! The Ozzy hunting lads think it strange that we here in the UK don't kill them on sight ! In NZ they were/are the most responsible predator of indiginous ground nesting birds. Even here in the UK they kill millions of birds, but nobody ever wants to say the killed a feral cat, because of their cuddly pet status, when actualy a feral cat, or a cat let out every night, is a very efficient killer ! Cheers.
  13. I'd swap Mike Ashley for an Arab billionaire any day !!! Cheers.
  14. I don't think these were designed to catch wolves, mate ! More to catch dollars and pounds !! LOL !! Cheers.
  15. Ah, is that what they are, cheers CP Mini Borzoi type things, though from that pic I wouldn't call 'em lookers, a few other names spring to mind though! The woman in the 'states that "invented" them, claims to have "rediscovered" rough coated Whippets !! She also happens to breed Borzois and pedigree Whippets, so it doesn't take much working out where these "windhounds" came from !! LOL !! Yeah I think they are "lookers"... would I have one... no ! LOL ! Cheers.
  16. glad you think they are lookers Yeah, I think they are "lookers"; don't you ? They look like hairy kc Whippets; can't imagine them doing much graft though ! Cheers.
  17. Never heard of any working; but these "mini Borzois/hairy Whippets" sure are lookers !!! Cheers.
  18. What do you mean by "flapping track whippets" ? Do you mean Non-Ped Whippets ? Flapping tracks, as I know them, are non NGRC Greyhound tracks, and very few, if any Non-Ped Whippets make the grade on them against Greyhounds. Also, by "Grew", do you mean GREyhound/Whippet, as they are known here, or do you mean Greyhound ? I go to the Non-Ped Whippet racing most weekends, and the best dogs are Whippet/Greys, (Grews), but this is straight racing, over 150 yards, not Flapping Tracks. Cheers.
  19. This is a great debate, and the sort we need more of on here ! I have two bitches at the moment; one is "Lurcher to Lurcher; Worker to Worker" bred, and is 50% Greyhound; the other is F1 deer/Grey, and her Dam never even raced, let alone worked ! She was simply a brood bitch !. So both my bitches are 50% Greyhound, albeit in a different way. Which is better ? Well they have both been bred for specific jobs, and both do their jobs well, although the Deer/Grey has just finished her first season, I can see there is plenty to work with in the future ! One is 23" the other is 29" and they do the jo
  20. I did say in a previous post, that hardbloods only give speed to a Lurcher cross; but thinking about it, I've had some non-peds who's strike and mouth were pretty good ! Cheers.
  21. 18 to 35 miles a week ....... Hmmm, I think I do more mooching about every day !! LOL !! Cheers.
  22. Hard work, dedication and knowledge... not necesseraly in that order ! LOL ! Cheers.
  23. I think speed IS the only thing you get from track dogs, and if you want more speed in your line, then adding non-ped Whippet or racing Greyhound blood, providing you use the right dog, is just about guaranteed to add speed to a Lurcher line. Cheers.
