chartpolski replied to baw's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
There's pic's of Moscows dogs on the Minshaw thread, Whin; how about some pic's of yours ? Cheers. -
cheers ritchie, i'm sure leigh will do a styerling job I judged the Whippets at Birr a couple of years ago, Den, was one of the best times I've had !! Fishing in the Grand Canal, drinking with the good people of Ballycommon, and meeting so many dog men and women and class dogs at the show !! A great experience ! Cheers.

Probably not the "best", (there are any amount of very good, unsung dogs out there doing the business night in night out.), but old "Bruce the Rescue Dog" rarely dissapointed on the lamp, and was a more than handy day dog aswell; Cheers. -
I don't believe any dog will take 10/10 every time ! There's just to many variables. Cheers. you obviously have not been out with whin and his dogs And I never will !! Thank you very much !! LOL !! Cheers,

And any one talking such bollocks shouldn't be allowed to post on a hunting site ! Are you seriously saying that if a dog doesn't take 10/10 it should be kept as a pet ???? Cheers.

B.L.; I don't think anyone hates Whin or doubts he has good dogs and does a bit . I'm sure he genuinely believes he is just having a craic, banter, wind-up, whatever he wants to call it. BUT, you being a friend of his should let him know that by hijacking threads, name dropping, bragging, etc, ad nauseum; he is making himself look like a jelous bitter fool ! Cheers. -
I put a post up a while back with the pedigrees of my Deer/Grey, and back in the 1800's there was "bull blooded Greyhound" and "rough Scottish type Greyhound" on her Greyhound dam's side. On her Deerhound sires side. in the 1950's Greyhound was added to the Ardkinglass Deerhounds. Cheers.

Judging by the class's, entry fee's etc, I take it neither you or your pal have organised/run a show before ? Did you do the homework regarding third party insurance, especialy if racing is included. How about the hiring/provision of toilet facilites, etc ? It's not just a case of finding a field and having a show. I'm sure there are people on here who will galdly give you help and advice to run a show in the future. Cheers.

kennelled or indoors/ difference in work abilities
chartpolski replied to joshmarto's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I keep my mangy curs in a cold, damp, draughty kennel with no bedding and feed them on shite and give them a good kicking every so often, as it makes them 'arder and better workers !!! Cheers. -
Six Pound per dog ????? That's insane !! Allmost every show is only one pound, the odd show is two pounds !!! Even if it is for charity; you're doing yourselfs no favours, not many will turn up, only the dedicated rosette hunters, they may as well stay home and buy themselves a trophy ! LOL !..... haven't you heard there's a reccesion on ??????? Cheers.

Is the (Non-Ped) Whippet a Lurcher ?
chartpolski replied to chartpolski's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
The owner of Bilko said he would have loved to put him over a Saluki, But back then Salukis were fairly rare and the people who owned them wouldn't have dreamed of cross breeding them ! But if the cross HAD of come off, todays Non-Peds may just have had a bit more stamina in them. Cheers. -
I was talking to Cocker last week, about when he was going to put one of his Saluki bitches to Allmost Bob's, the extremly fast Non-Ped Racer. The mating didn't come of for some reason, but I thought they would have made class pups ! Cheers.

kennelled or indoors/ difference in work abilities
chartpolski replied to joshmarto's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Why would that be ? They should be just as comfortable, warm, dry, clean and draught proof in a kennel as in a house, if kennelled corectly. Cheers. -

Is the (Non-Ped) Whippet a Lurcher ?
chartpolski replied to chartpolski's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I'm playing "devils advocate" lads ! LOL ! I don't think that Non-Peds and unregistered Greyhounds should race against Lurchers at the shows, If they want all - out race dogs, they should run them on the track, out of traps ! Cheers. -
I've been following the argument amongst "Lurcher" racers complaining about Non-Ped Whippets competing in, ( and usualy winning), Lurcher Races. I was given some old CMW's and there was an article about the great racer and stud dog "Bilko", claiming he had Staffordshire Bull Terrier in him, which I wouldn't doubt, as I had two pups from his breedind that could pass for "Bull X's" ! When Bilko was put to the prolific brood bitch "Young Lucy", the prodgeny, Red Baron, Warlord, etc, were some of the fastest ever ! Young Lucy was a Whippet x Collie/Greyhound, so these dogs were Bull/Whippet x Whip
