You can tell all that from one, not very flattering, photo ? WOW !! Cheers. Thought you was never replying to one of my posts ever again as always a another THL member bollocks. if you run your hands over enough dogs you dont need to be a rocket sciences to see that dogs faults as a pure running dog compared to the other pup. ATB Cookie I know enough about dogs to know you cant judge ANY dog, let alone a pup, from one picture where you cant even see the whole dog ! Cheers. So based on that reply all our comments should be based on the looks of the dogs rather

How can "the best happen to be a failed fox dog " ?? If it failed at what it ws bred for, but happens to catch rabbits, then it can't be the best ! If I wanted to breed from a very good rabbiting bitch, and rabbits were going to be the pups main quarry; then why on earth use a stud that failed at what it was bred for, when there are any amount of very good rabbit dog studs out there ? It just doesn't make any sense to me ! Cheers.

Have you had the dog from being a pup ? Perhaps the trainer may be more to blame than the dog ? Cheers.

Surely any decent Lurcher should be expected to do the "four tricks"; hunt, JUMP, kill & carry ? Cheers.

What exactly constitutes a 'non-ped' and as was previously asked, who, on the day, stands deciding what is a pedigree whippet (without papers), non-ped whippet, small whippet type, 3/4 grey 1/4 whippet etc? Also, who sorts out the arguments when people dispute the decision? Simplest thing is to have height divisions and anybody with a pedigree whippet who ain't happy can race at whippet racing clubs where only papered whippets are welcome. why would any one want to run a non ped in a whippet race if they had a proper class to run there lurcher in think about it Because there is ars

We ALL can see what you mean !! If you want "Whippet"! only racing, then show your papers !! SIMPLE !!. There are guys like Bob, who race and work there dogs, and enjoy it ! Why can't you guys ????? No, you just must win "Lurcher" racing.. where VERY few actual working Lurchers take part !! As I KEEP saying, why don't you people race your dogs against their peers, out of traps on a real track, instead of racing against LURCHERS who don't have a chance ?? I really have no idea why you keep saying we are trying to run against lurchers??? That is NOT the point here, the point is that organ

I don't think it's the "LURCHER" people who are cheating !! Far from it.. I think most LURCHER people are avoiding the so called "Lurcher racing" because it's been taking over by people who only have winning in mind, and are using race bred Non-Ped Whippets and unregistered Greyhounds !! The working Lurcher, that does a winters graft, and then has a run at a show in the summer, now has NO chance against these dogs; so please don't accuse the LURCHER owners of cheating !! Cheers. Race bred Non-Ped Whippets make excellent working dogs also. I started over 45 years ago with Non-

lets see ya smooth hared lurchers
chartpolski replied to the big chief's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
This bitch was my first Lurcher, after moving on from Racing Whippets, I got her in the early 70's; she taught me more than I taught her ! She retreived rabbits live to hand, worked the lamp off the lead, was the first dog I had that took 3/3 hares, and had no bother with foxes ! I was told she was Saluki/Stag/Whippet/Deer; but who would believe a Gypsy selling a pup ? LOL ! Never bred from her , although I tried twice to line her with a Deer/Grey, and she never took. Cheers. -
WHEN YOUR DOGS RUNNING DAYS ARE OVER
chartpolski replied to robert michem's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I've got a 6 1/2 year old in the kennel just now, and she has been, and still is, a top class dog. I dread when she gets to old to do what she was bred for.... not because I'll get rid of her; no, she'll be with me for life, but when I go to get the lamp, or go to put my "walking boots" on she goes crackers, knowing she's going working ! When I have to leave her in and take the other dogs out, it'll break my and her hearts ! But that's a few years away yet ! Cheers. -
A playfull nip ! Get over it !! LOL !! Had worse off a ferret ! Cheers.

Very simple, in my opinion ! If it is for Whippets only, then show your papers ! No papers ? then go in the lurcher class. I was going to shows 45 year ago, when we sat in a pub and decided to have a show, then the racing came along, and ANY running dog, no matter what size, breed or coat, ran against each other..FOR A BIT OF FUN !! Now, it isn't "Lurcher" racing, It seems to me, to be racing for people who are running race bred dogs, but are afraid to race against their peers, out of traps, at a real track ! These dogs will beat my working dogs every time over stupid distances like 150 yards.

But why would you want to use a failed Bull x as a stud for rabbiting dogs ? Surely it's better to use proven rabbiting stock........or am I reading the question wrong ? Cheers

You'll get supporters and detractors of both types ! I suppose it depends on the individual dog, (and handler). I've seen some tremendous working Whippets, and also some useless ones ! The same goes for Lurchers, some good, some bad. I've owned both Whippets and Lurchers, and the choice is usualy dictated by the quarry I wish to run. Cheers.

A dog may be the only company the old dear has !! I would hate for the PC police to put an age limit for owning a dog ! Cheers.

Isn't it a bit pointless putting up posts about him, when you know they are going to be locked or removed ? Instead of saying "Whin", just use his new user name, and no one will be any the wiser !! LOL !! Cheers.

I can't believe people are defending this guy !! It doesn't matter if there is one hours, one days or one weeks worth of shit there.......Who in their right mind would put up pics advertising a dog standing in piles of its own shit !! How difficult can it be to clean it out ? Cheers.

Neutered dogs at Lurcher shows
chartpolski replied to woodys mum's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
If you give a bitch the close inspection that ANY dog in a show ring deserves, you will feel the spaying scar. Cheers.
