Saw frost on a bit of ground in Northumberland this morning !! To answer your question; yes I would, and have in the past... but it's up to the owner where they run their dogs ! Cheers.

Get them removed when a pup is 2 to 3 days old, and it's easy and painless, and cheap !! Leave it and it gets very expensive ! I've dogs with and without dew claws, and , to me, it doesn;t make any difference ! Cheers.

There are some Salukis that simply DON'T put weight on ! It's just the way the breed is. In thier native enviroment they don't get the feed that we give them here. The bedu will feed pups on camel/goat milk and dates, as that is usualy all that's available. I remember a vet in Saudi telling me he'd be worried if he saw a FAT Saluki ! LOL ! As long as the pup is well fed and wormed regularly, and shows no signs of illness, it should be OK ! Cheers.

There allways was, (and still is), plenty of crosses, types, without Saluki in them, that could take hares. Thing was, these dogs were used as "allrounders", whereas the Saluki Hybrids were, MAINLY, bred for the specific purpose of hare coursing. If coursing is your main or only work, then get a well bred Saluki type. If you want more of an "allrounder", then there are other types that are more suitable, but still more than capable of taking hares regularly. By the way. not every Saluki type turns out to be a great hare dog; just like other crosses, there is plenty that don't make the grade; b -

Where do you get you timeline from, SHH ?? I can ASSURE you there were Bull X's around here at least 10 year before that, ( yes, APBT x Greyhound). Cheers. they werent in the country til 80s though, md and er bought the first ones over i thought I was offered a Bull cross in '72, my brother had a pure bred bitch and my mate had at least 3 pure bred dogs in the early 70's. A guy comes on and asks about PURE SALUKI and people answer him talking about Saluki crosses and even Beddy crosses !! LOL !! I've had pure Saluki and Saluki Cross, and no way would I class them as "allrounders", as the OP wants ! From what he is asking, he'd be better off getting a genuine "Lurcher x Lurcher" that's from parents that have done the type of work he wants ! Of course, the Saluki owners will say their dogs do everything, but they don't do it as well as a purpose bred Lurcher. Don't even dream of getting a pure Saluki for ferreting, unless you are some sort of masochist ! LOL !

The problem was that one of the three Magistrates was the landowner !!!! I don't think that would stand these days ! As soon as the charges were read out, he leaned over to the Clerk of the Court and asked "What's the maximum punishment ?" I'm sure the old b*****d would have had us hung or deported if could have !! It will be a different place mate.... but dont forget, they hated us dog lads way back when I started ! The first time I was up for "Tresspass in pursuit of Game or Coney" was in the 60's, and they fined me £60, and my weekly wage was £53; fairly severe for a young man with a wife and kid, but it was a hare that I took off a Lords land, and that couldn't be allowed !! LOL !! Next time, they shot my dog, but that's another story !! As I said. I'm 60, and still at it, so you young'uns should keep at it !! Cheers.

Aww for Christs sake !! You people who don't believe these lads ought to get off this site and shut the f**k up !! Every so often the subject comes up. "can one dog do 100 rabbits ? " Well, YES it can, and has been done !! Who cares where or how good the rabbits were ? THESE LADS DONE IT !! Instead of slagging and moaning you should be congratulating them !! I was down Notts way one time for a lamping match, (Mally was judging), and the host was a bit embarrassed about the lack of quarry, until we saw a Transit van full of Pikeys driving the lads permission !! It didn't spoil the night to much, but we could have done without it ! Any way, I think we stayed 2 or 3 nights and had some fun !! Cheers.

What about the night we were halfway, walking, to where we were going to lamp, and the heavens opened !! I said "well. i'm soaked to the skin, it cant go any father " ! We carried on and caught a few rabbits and on the way back a car full of pikeys stopped for a ruck ? Shit. it seems like a laugh now. probably was at the time as well !! It's all about getting out with the dogs, (and the vodka and beer afterwards !! ). Cheers.

And you can carry 1/2 a bag of spuds, a bag of carrots and 1/2 a dozen rabbits 2 miles back to the car I'm a reformed character now mate ! Got my own alottment for growing veg......
