Where do you get you timeline from, SHH ?? I can ASSURE you there were Bull X's around here at least 10 year before that, ( yes, APBT x Greyhound). Cheers.

A loose/bad connection in a light fitting will cause bulbs to blow. Cheers.

Yes of course it is; and I own a Beddy X ! What he is asking is about PURE SALUKI, and I DON'T think that would do what he wants ! So please don't make an argument where there isn't one ! Cheers'

A guy comes on and asks about PURE SALUKI and people answer him talking about Saluki crosses and even Beddy crosses !! LOL !! I've had pure Saluki and Saluki Cross, and no way would I class them as "allrounders", as the OP wants ! From what he is asking, he'd be better off getting a genuine "Lurcher x Lurcher" that's from parents that have done the type of work he wants ! Of course, the Saluki owners will say their dogs do everything, but they don't do it as well as a purpose bred Lurcher. Don't even dream of getting a pure Saluki for ferreting, unless you are some sort of masochist ! LOL !

The problem was that one of the three Magistrates was the landowner !!!! I don't think that would stand these days ! As soon as the charges were read out, he leaned over to the Clerk of the Court and asked "What's the maximum punishment ?" I'm sure the old b*****d would have had us hung or deported if could have !! LOL !! Cheers.

Perhaps we could have an "Over 60's Club" section on here, Ian ? I bet the likes of me, Bezza, Romany, Chalkie, and a few others would like to be members ?? Cheers.

It will be a different place mate.... but dont forget, they hated us dog lads way back when I started ! The first time I was up for "Tresspass in pursuit of Game or Coney" was in the 60's, and they fined me £60, and my weekly wage was £53; fairly severe for a young man with a wife and kid, but it was a hare that I took off a Lords land, and that couldn't be allowed !! LOL !! Next time, they shot my dog, but that's another story !! As I said. I'm 60, and still at it, so you young'uns should keep at it !! Cheers.

Who actualy gives a shit if they could ?? They did it NOW !! Cheers.

Aww for Christs sake !! You people who don't believe these lads ought to get off this site and shut the f**k up !! Every so often the subject comes up. "can one dog do 100 rabbits ? " Well, YES it can, and has been done !! Who cares where or how good the rabbits were ? THESE LADS DONE IT !! Instead of slagging and moaning you should be congratulating them !! Instead of saying you wish you had so many rabbitts where you live, why not do what these lads did ? I bet they wern't just around their own doors !! Give credit where it's due !! Cheers.

I was down Notts way one time for a lamping match, (Mally was judging), and the host was a bit embarrassed about the lack of quarry, until we saw a Transit van full of Pikeys driving the lads permission !! It didn't spoil the night to much, but we could have done without it ! Any way, I think we stayed 2 or 3 nights and had some fun !! Cheers.

What about the night we were halfway, walking, to where we were going to lamp, and the heavens opened !! I said "well. i'm soaked to the skin, it cant go any father " ! We carried on and caught a few rabbits and on the way back a car full of pikeys stopped for a ruck ? Shit. it seems like a laugh now. probably was at the time as well !! It's all about getting out with the dogs, (and the vodka and beer afterwards !! ). Cheers.

who bred the longist lines of proven dogs to date

I agree entirely, but the line must surely be diluted by 50% as soon as you outcross ? Cheers. Sure ,but then you cross back into the line . The outcross then is only diluted by 1/4 and you would be fixing the genes of the line which would be stronger So you'd take a pup from the "outcross". and put it back to a dog/bitch from the origional line ? Yeah, of course thats done, but it still dilutes the "origional" line; that's my point ! Dare I use "Minshaws" as an example ? If a Minshaw is put to a pure Collie or a pure greyhound, are the offspring "Minshaws" ? If a pup from the cros -
Sorry to here that, mate !! But there ARE worse things in life than losing a dog. You may not think so at the moment, and like you, I'm gutted when I lose a dog, whatever the circumstances are ! Chin up, and don't let it sicken you in the dog game. Get another pup and give it your best !! I wish you all the luck in the world with your next dog !! Cheers.

But surely as soon as an unrelated dog/bitch is introduced into the "line"; it is no longer the same "line" ? This isn't an argument, but what I hope will become a good discussion. Cheers/ -

I can trace the lines of my first X Deer/Grey back to 1820... but so can anyone with a first X. Just about every registered Greyhound goes back to "Pilot", and most Deerhounds can be traced back to the 1800's. But you're right; who needs more than five generations ? Cheers. -

There's probably dogs that can trace their breeding back to the old Deerhound/Collie/greyhounds from the Ashington area of Northumberland, to at least the 50's..... But as DNA has proved that at least 50% of Europeans can trace their lineage back to Ghengis Khan; it don't realy mean to much !! How many "lines" have kept true, without an outcross now and again ? Even the breeders of the best stock will tell you they have added a Greyhound or Saluki at some time, for whatever reason; and that alone means the "line" has been, at least, diluted ! Cheers.
