  1. By far the worst dog I've ever had the misfortune to kennel was a Rat Terrier ! It was registered as a Miniature Manchester Terrier. Born in the Ukraine, gifted to my daughter in Dubai, she took it, and a Miniature Pincher to Australia with her. The Pincher died so she rescued a Chihuahua from a pet shop. Then she brought the pair of them back to the UK and I ended up with them ! The Rat Terrier was absolutely mental; would attack anything, man or dog. When you put its food down for it it would bark at the food for ten minutes ! One time it barked in the kennel continu
  2. There's a lad on here who, along with his family, owned some of the fastest non-peds ever to grace a track. Twice within recent years he offered to gift me a pup. Not long ago I was gifted a Teckel pup by another member on here., they sell for stupid money. Another member on here offered me a pup bred from his Beddy/grey, again for free. Theres still a lot of people who would rather gift a pup to like minded people, than be in it just for the money. Cheers.
  3. That's not been my experience. Even before the price explosion for puppies, ped whippets were at least 2-3 times the cost of non-peds. Non-peds racers seem to be the only breed that hasn't been taken over by the pedlars. There's very few well bred litters being bred due the racing being suspended . The usual prices for non-peds was between £150-£300, far below the price of KC whippets, and a lot were given away to people in the game. Cheers.
  4. It's the one about the arrow that has me reaching for the aspirin! ? ! Cheers.
  5. That's a hard one mate. Ive been tempted to get a non-ped, as I would have a go at the racing again, and the peds simply can't live with the non-peds at racing. If the racing didn't work out, a non-ped would do what I want in the field these days; lamping, and the odd day time hare and roe. Thats not to knock the peds, I think what they lack in blistering speed, ( I know, I know, speed isn't everything), they make up for in stamina that the non-peds may lack. By far the best ped I've seen was Mally's Vixen. I've seen her run all night in atrocious conditions and take big ba
  6. A non-ped whippet I had in the early 70's; Equaly at home racing or working. As can be seen by his "pedigree", he had that bit of collie a couple of generations back. Sadly shot by a 'keeper whilst coursing a hare. Cheers.
  7. When my grandson calls, he's in such a rush to tell me everything all the words come tumbling out until he settles down. The other day it was "chocolate strawberry pizza pepperoni minecraft fortnite avengers" Evidently that's his favourite meal, favourite games and favourite film ! The missus and I laugh just thinking about him, a very bright spot in an otherwise bleak time. Cheers.
  8. I think it will be dropped before the supporters are let back in. Cheers.
  9. It's in the Sunday mail today. Almost all the Scots team and nearly half the English team refused. Cheers.
  10. I haven't seen my five year old grandson in over a year, but I get daily photos and videos, and a couple of times a week he calls us on Skype. This technology is fantastic. I can remember having to book an international call home to my missus a day in advance, then have to wait in line for my name to be called out when there was a connection, two minutes on a crackly line and cost a fortune. Letters would take two weeks, if they got to me at all ! So little things that we take for granted now, make me very happy ! Cheers.
  11. A feral cat put Bruce the rescue dog out of action for a couple of weeks. Mind you, he put the cat out of action permanently ! Cheers.
  12. I've owned and ran ped and non-ped whippets and have a soft spot for them. But, and this is just MY opinion, non-peds usually aren't over matched by hare or roe, but peds are. Of course, there will be exceptions, but I've never seen a ped whippet take hare regularly. It's horses for courses, or hounds for grounds, I wouldn't bring in a ped whippet if hare coursing was my game, just as I wouldn't bring in a pure Saluki if ferreting or lamping rabbits was my game. If you want a dog for mooching around, ferreting or lamping, then a ped whippet will be fine, but if you also wa
  13. Bull fighting is great ! But not as much fun as throwing a goat out of a church tower ! Or seeing how many people you can get on the back of a donkey before it collapses and dies under the weight ! All great fun for a Sunday morning with the family before going for a pint ! Well, it is for some Spanish. Cheers.
  14. I was very lucky with my house. We were living in company housing when we bought it and we rented it out for over 20 years. The rent, less agents fees and repairs, etc, just about covered the mortgage, so we basically got s free house ! I only got bumped off one renter, for around £2,000, but my solicitor said it wasn't worth the cost or hassle taking her to court, so I wrote it off and didn't let it worry me to much. The house, and everything else, will be left to our grandson. He won't live in it, but he can sell it or rent it out, and do what he wants with the money.
  15. My first though was; Cheers ?
  16. I got my mortgage when the interest rates were as high as 15%. Then when the rates started dropping, the bank would ask me if I wanted to reduce my monthly payments, but I would say "no, take it off the capital " and I would pay off the odd £1,000 every now and again. I had made sure when I took the loan that there would be no early repayment penalties. My mortgage was paid off years early, but the banks hate that ! Cheers.
  17. The committee at the allotments interpreted the letter differently. I thought it meant free range birds had to be penned. The Chairman thought penned birds had to locked in their coops. My birds are penned so I left it at that. I said get the council to come out and explain what we were to do, but they never came, so nothing changed for me. Cheers.
  18. We had a notice from the Council Allotment Officer a couple of months ago about bird 'flu. Said we had to isolate all our poultry and use disenfectent on our boots when going in and out of the pens. Havent heard anything since. Cheers.
  19. They are the victims. They are the victims of this hateful Tory government policies, and society in general. They committed the crime as a cry for help. They should be treated with compassion and understanding. At least that how the left will portray them ! Personally, I'd simply top the pair of evil b*****ds ! Cheers.
  20. Much as a sage, shaman, or even an old man, ponders the meaning of life and the universe, my question was merely rhetorical. But thank you for your prompt and succinct reply, my young friend ! ???? Cheers.
  21. ? I don't know why, but when I read that I started laughing and thinking of the great Monty Pythons Holy Grail; " I wave my private parts at your auntie ", "I blow my nose in your general direction", "Your mother was a hamster and your father smelled of elderberries " " I scoff at your infinity " ???? Cheers.
  22. What's the thoughts on the "Big Crunch" ? Isnt It about gravity being a measurable constant, and when the universal expansion reaches a certain point it will start contracting ? This, if correct, would debunk any infinity suggestion. Cheers.
  23. To quote the old paradox: "If the universe is infinite....what is it expanding into ? " Cheers.
  24. If Sheldon Lee Cooper can't figure it out, I'm damned if I'm going to try ! ? ! Live Long And Prosper !
