  1. Beddy/grey x deer/grey-Whippet/grey; Took a lot more than just hares. Pre ban.....of course ? Cheers.
  2. I like all types, grass hopper; no kennel blindness here ! ? ! Cheers.
  3. That can't be Paul Noons Beast surely ? Cheers.
  4. Some of my teachers were ex ww2 soldiers, and more than one had what is now termed PTSS, then known as shell shock. One in particular was definitely mad, one day he just had enough and climbed out of a classroom window and never came back ! Cheers.
  5. Kids limping around because of verrucas, heads shaved because of nits, painted blue because of ring worm, legs in metal frames because of rickets, but, hey, spare athought for the poor kids of today who need counselling if someone called them names on face book. We were positively cosseted in the "good old days" ! ? ! Cheers.
  6. Didn't Lamp + Battery who used to be on here have Fettle as a pup ? Cheers.
  7. Pink national health specs with sticking plaster over the good eye. They called it a "lazy eye", and hoped by covering the good eye it would make the lazy one work harder. Cheers.
  8. I remember at school in the 50's/60's, very much pre mass immigration, we had a lass who's dad was Jamaican and her mum was a local white lass, and a Polish lad. That was it, no other "foreigners". Strangely, it was the Polish kid who got all the bullying, his life was made misery, thinking back. The half caste lass was never bullied, I guess she was looked on as something "exotic", something we had never seen before. How times change. Cheers.
  9. Yeah, the nit nurse ! we had a family in our street, load of kids, alcoholic dad, mum who couldn't cope. After a visit by the nit nurse. all the kids had their heads shaved and painted with that purple stuff, poor buggers used to wear balaclavas to school, even the girls. One of them was called Florence, we all called her "Flo the crow", kids can be cruel at times..... Cheers.
  10. Slightly off topic, but does anyone remember "the wag wife" ? Older members may remember from their schooldays the women employed by the council to walk the streets during school hours looking for truants. If they collared you, you were taken home, got a good telling off, told of the horrors of borstal, your parents were threatened with some unspecified punishment, and when dad got home, you most likely got a hiding for "bringing trouble to the house" ! Ahh, the good old days ! ? ! Cheers.
  11. I didn't take it as racist. I took it as feckless parents who don't give a shit, just like that white, lesbian pair. It also allways seems like an absent father is part of the scenario. I agree with KD, they are NOT like me and my missus, I don't care what colour, race, religion, creed or sexual orientation they are, I'd take their kids into care and sterilise the parents so they can't put any other kids in danger. Cheers.
  12. I had two mini Manchester terriers, and the only way they would of killed a fox is if one of the snappy little b*****ds got stuck in the fox's throat as it ate them ! ??! Cheers.
  13. Sky Warrior ? I was talking to the owner, last Open meeting I was at , Wallsend Rising Sun, and a mate of mine who runs scratch dogs said it's one of the few that breaks 8 seconds for 150 yards. Perfect for putting speed into a lurcher line ? Cheers.
  14. Is Sky Warrior or Emily's Warrior the sire to the pups, Tomo ? Sky Warrior is one of the fastest non-peds I've ever seen. Either way, I'd be seriously thinking of one of these if i didn't have a pup on just now. Cheers.
  15. I remember a moto gp rider being interviewed after being the first to go 200mph. The interviewer asked "what's it like to do 200mph ?". He shrugged his shoulders and said "not much different to 190 mph". I know f1 lap faster than moto gp, but those guys on two wheels are the modern day gladiators in my eyes. Cheers.
  16. Didn't he drive five years for McLaren before moving to Mercedes ? Cheers.
  17. Just been talking to my mate in Pampanga about sending me some spurs, he was quoted £15-£30 ! ? Hes going to send his Philippino brother in law to buy them , I'm expecting them to be a bit cheaper ! ? Cheers.
  18. My dad, when he was at Sullom Voe, and a mate on the North Sea rigs swore by Tiger Balm, so I said I'd bring a big box for them. I mentioned it to a Thai pal and he said no,no, I'll send my wife for it. it was about 100th the price I would have paid. ? Another time my missus wanted two suitcases of designer shirts for my sister to sell at the factory where she worked. Again, my pal said tell my wife what you want and she'll get them. Now this was back when a t shirt was around 50p and a polo shirt around £1 , she got them for half the price, and probably got a "commission"
  19. That's about £160, things have got a lot more expensive since I spent time there, but to be fair, it's worth it for the experience and memories. Enjoy it ? Cheers.
  20. Depends what you want. I used to have a word with the lads who took tourists out to the islands and would fish while the boat waited to bring them back. Would catch fish and have them barbecued on the the boat. Nothing huge but caught plenty , and back then just paid around 100-200 baht, next to nothing, doubtless it will cost more now, but a bit different to fishing the specimen lakes. Cheers.
  21. "Eyes like a shithouse Rat"......and that was meant as a compliment ! ? ! Cheers.
  22. There's reports that one of them was a "traveller" and they're both lesbians, so social services were afraid of racist and homophobic accusations if they delved to deep. If this is true, there needs to be an independent inquiry and heads should roll. Nothing will happen of course, and that particular head of children's services has already resigned before the court case, no doubt with a golden handshake and a pension. It stinks, like all the other cases, but we will hear all the platitudes and of course "lessons will be learned." Will they f**k ! Cheers.
  23. I remember it well. Peter Easterby and another man were charged with allowing their land to be used for illegal hare coursing. They pleaded not guilty but the judge found them guilty, but gave them absolute discharges, stating that the Hunting Act was confusingly worded. Prescott and Clarissa pleaded guilty to illegal coursing, and again the judge gave absolute discharges. No costs were levied against any of the defendants. I still see and chat with one of the other lady defendants, she usually has one of her old coursing whippets with her at the Whippet racing. Grand old lady to chat to
  24. No, I mean Prescott and Clarissa , Date set for 'hare coursing' trial at Scarborough Magistrates Court - Horse & Hound WWW.HORSEANDHOUND.CO.UK Peter Easterby, Sir Mark Prescott, Clarissa Dickson Wright and four other defendants are to tried for alleged illegal hare-coursing at Scarborough Magistrates Court... Cheers.
