I’ve never been in favour of banning things, as it usually doesn’t have the intended effect. Just look at the hunting ban; the vast majority of people thought it was about protecting foxes and getting one over on the “rich Tory’s in red coats”, but it affected everyone with a hunting dog. Or the handgun ban, the only people it affected were the GB pistol shooting teams, the wrong’uns never held these guns legally anyway ! But I’m a bit swayed towards banning these dogs…..there’s a few round my way and most are untrained and out of control and most disturbingly seem to be draggi

I haven’t seen Mally for years, but we spent a lot of time in each other’s company hunting, shooting, ferreting, lamping, coursing, we had some great times. I was impressed with Vixen as an all rounder and she threw some good pups. Cheers.

Speed, yeah, the non-ped, but I’d say the ped from coursing stock will have the edge in stamina . Just my opinion, of course. Cheers.

Mallyfields Vixen; Probably the best working pedigree whippet I’ve seen, and double Sooty Sam bred . Cheers.

One thing is puzzling me ; no one is mentioning his rank in the army. Theres a photo of him with an army shirt with a captains three pips on the shoulder, but he joined the army at 17 and had done just four years, even if he went to Sandhurst, which I don’t think he did, how could he rise through the ranks so rapidly and be a captain at 21 ? Cheers. -
I paid £172 last year, this year my renewal is £268 !!!! I called them and said don’t take my direct debit as I’m shopping around for a better deal. They said they could do it for £230 and that was lower that anyone else. I checked with gocompare and they were right. Looks like we are getting stuffed again and there’s nothing we can do ! Cheers.

To be honest, it’s hounds for grounds, I couldn’t compare them. I enjoyed the whippets as I could run a hare or two during the week and race them at the weekend. Seeing a deer/grey in full flight on a daytime roe or hare is a grand sight. I ran the Salukis in the Middle East and I had to put many miles in just to get a run, but it was something I enjoyed. Basically I just love running dogs and I don’t think the different types can be compared. It would be daft to compare a saluki and a whippet running hares on the fens, but a whippet can give a great few runs on the smalle

If you could name one town or city that’s your favourite, just the one, which would it be ? Mine would probably be San Antonio, Texas . Cheers.

Isn’t the Sunderland tripe works there ? They deliver my dog food to Forest Hall in Newcastle, just picked a load of minced chicken up yesterday. Cheers.

He’s a man of mystery; Kabul to Kampuchea, Manila to Milan, London to Lahore, Zurich to Zambia ! A modern day Pimpernel ! ”They seek him here, they seek him there, they seek that damned elusive Mackem everywhere ! “. Cheers.

I don’t know mate, all I can say is it will probably be a Southern Hemisphere team. Ive got connections with Australia and NZ, so I’ll enjoy their games. I like to watch the Springboks, but I want England to win but I doubt they will, if not, I’d like to see the taffs win! Bit of a politicians answer, sorry, but I’m looking forward to a lot of games, especially us v the Argies tomorrow ! Cheers.

One of the best Haka’s I’ve seen. Hope it’s a good game….and the French get beat ! Cheers.

The bill, draconian as it is, doesn’t actually say that, but it does give this and all future governments the right to make it law to have heat pumps and all the rest , without a vote in parliament. It also gives them the right to send an inspector to your house if you want to sell it, and will block the sale if it doesn’t reach the energy efficiency standard, which hasn’t been set yet, until it is brought up to whatever standard they deem appropriate at the time. Only 19 MP’s, including Jacob Rees Mogg, voted against this bill. It has now went to the House of Lords for ratificat

Terrorist Escapes From Wandsworth Prison.

It’s as if someone has decided it’s time to destroy the Tory Party ! Cost of living crisis. NHS in crisis with an almost 8 million backlog of operations. More and more boats full of illegal immigrants crossing the channel and even Sunak admitting it’s costing £7 million a day to keep them, and with no plan to stop them. Schools in danger of falling down. Our second city and europes biggest council, Birmingham, announcing bankruptcy. And now suspected terrorist being put in a cat B prison and given a kitchen job and walking out ! Starmer doesn’t need to do any -

HM Inspector of Prisons was interviewed on the news this morning. He said when he inspected Wandsworth Prison last year, one of the failings noted was, and I quote, “ a lack of duvet covers” !!!! No wonder the country is going down the pan….. Cheers. -
As it happens, I was at my nephews last Saturday to watch the football, and the conversation turned to boxing. My nephew thinks Fury is the greatest boxer of all time ! Looks like another one I’ve got to educate ! What a sad indictment of the British education system this younger generation are ! Cheers.

A bit slow on the uptake mate ! Your next report card will include the comment “must be quicker to bite “ ! LOL ! Cheers.

I wasn’t sure what he meant by “training”, but I see your point. To be fair, I probably put more emphasis on fitness training than obedience training. Youre right with your examples; recall and stock breaking are absolute necessities, retrieve is also an advantage, but for the kind of work my dogs do, it’s not a big disadvantage if they don’t retrieve. Ive never seen the point in training a running dog to FTCh standard, even though I have used lurchers for beating on shoots in the past. Cheers.

Could you expand on what you mean by “training”. Do you mean obedience type trading, or fitness training ? Cheers.
