I was obviously disappointed at yesterday’s result as it means Newcastle will not be playing European football next season, but to be honest, I’d say it’s fairer for a team that has actually won a trophy to qualify for Europe, that a team that finished seventh in the league and needed someone else to lose, to qualify for Europe ! Man U played probably better yesterday than they have all season and Man City probably played worse than they have all season, but that’s the magic of the Cup ! Worked running dogs with gun dogs; even had the odd gun dog in my kennel, but none of the gun dogs belonged to me. Maybe I should have been more precise in my post; I’ve never had the experience of owning and working gun dogs and running dogs, but I have had some limited experience of it . Cheers.

No experience of it, but last year a pal of mine bred a litter of genuine working GSP’s and kept two back until eight month old then decided which one he was keeping and offered to gift me the other one. I agonised over taking it, but decided not to. I’m a running dog man and probably couldn’t give it the type of training and work it deserved, but I still wonder if I made the wrong decision. Cheers

I have to respectfully disagree. Taylor hit two nine darters in the Premier League and I’m sure his averages and number of 180’s are still the best. He was exceptional and a long way better than his contemporaries. Yes, there are more players playing to a very high standard now, but I think he would, in his prime, be the one to beat now. Littler, in my opinion is the only one who could match or better Taylor’s record , because he’s young enough and good enough, as long as he keeps his head. The proposed law has now been discontinued due to the upcoming election. Any proposed new legislation has to receive Royal Assent today or It will be abandoned. That’s not to say the Tories or Labour won’t try to resurrect it after the election. Cheers.

I think the Hunting Act has it covered by saying it’s illegal to hunt MAMMALS with a dog ; there’s no mention of native or non-native species. Cheers.

I’ve never seen a working Dogo in person. Has anyone else on here ? What could they do here in the UK that a purpose bred lurcher couldn’t ? There’s dogs here that take everything in the UK , including the big deer and boar, so what would be the point of a Dogo ? I’ve often thought about having a working type Borzoi or Chartpolski or Azawak or whatever, but what would be the point ? There’s probably better lurchers available for the quarry we have here, so the “exotic” types would only be an indulgence. Just my opinion, of course. Cheers.

I don’t know if he’s been on the front line or not, but if he wins it will be massive for Ukrainian moral. It would be the opposite for moral if he WAS on the front line and was killed or, even worse, captured and paraded on tv . Just my opinion, of course. Cheers.

Peter Hitchens ! My old adversary , LOL ! I once got the better of him in a debate about the pros and cons of the U.S.S.R. back when he was a communist before his lurch to the right. He wasn’t amused and name-checked me and slagged me off in his Sunday Mail column. Ive softened my attitude towards him since his conversion to Conservatism, and I agree with a lot of what he says on his regular appearances on GBNews, so yes, peoples views and opinions can change with age, experience and a changing world .
