  1. A few more I’ve got at the allotment, various shapes and sizes; Cheers.
  2. I’m just surprised anyone is surprised by the results. It didn’t need a poll or investigation to see this, it’s on the news every day, Blair started this with his “multiculturalism “ and now the politicians are too scared of being call “racist” or “islamiphobic” to do anything about it. Cheers.
  3. How were the occupation force going to be resupplied ? They couldn’t have brought enough with them to withstand a siege/ stalemate situation , they were looting houses and shops for food. I didn’t think Conqueror was singly conclusive, I thought it was the single incident that convinced the Argies that we were there to win, the mood change in both countries, indeed around the world, at the time was palpable. Thatches gamble to sink a ship outside the 200 mile excision zone worked, it showed negotiations were off the table. Im not a military strategist, I’m just going by what I s
  4. Of course the war was multi faceted but sinking the Belgrano showed we were not afraid to use everything at our disposal including nuclear powered subs if necessary. The Vulcan raid was in the same vein, it told the Argentinians that we could bomb their mainland if we wanted to. Our land forces showed a professionalism way above the enemy. All the elements came together but I still say the sinking of the Belgrano was the decisive action that turned the war. I don’t believe the Argies could just sit it out, they couldn’t be resupplied because of our naval presence and our l
  5. Just like we didnt get involved in the Viet Nam War , even though the yanks asked us to. We didn’t ask the yanks to get involved in the Falklands. As soon as Thatcher ordered HMS Conqueror into action, that was game, set and match, we didn’t need any help. Cheers.
  6. New Zealand is also a member of “The Five Eyes” treaty, along with the UK, the US , Canada and Australia. Three of which are NATO members, two aren’t, but I’ve no doubt the would all act in the defence of each other. Cheers.
  7. Mon plaisir, mon ami . Bon chance.
  8. New Zealand isn’t a member of NATO . NATO members would probably get involved but not under the auspices of the NATO treaty. Just do some basic research , it’s all there on Google ! LOL ! Cheers,
  9. The simple answer is that the NATO treaty is only applicable in the northern hemisphere, north of the Tropic of Cancer. The UK couldn’t invoke Article Five as it didn’t apply . Also , we didn’t need any help. The Argentinians had French Exocet missile before the war and the “fact” that France kept supplying them during the war had been debunked. America offered us the use of one of their aircraft carriers in the event of our Through Deck Cruiser, HMS Invincible, being sunk. Cheers.
  10. I agree, my point is if you ask anyone an obvious question, you’ll get an obvious answer. If you asked British druids if paganism should be the national religion, don’t be surprised by the answer ! Cheers.
  11. While the HJS poll is worrying, it shouldn’t be surprising. If you asked Coptic Christians in Egypt if Christianity should be the national religion they would say yes. If you asked Buddhists in Burma if Buddhism should be the national religion they would say yes. If you asked the Uighirs in China if Islam should be the national religion they would say yes. So the poll doesn’t tell us what we don’t already know, the only thing that surprises me is the results weren’t bigger ! Cheers.
  12. GBNews is always on in the background here and I saw the breaking news. Cheers.
  13. Hasn’t he been caught in Aylesbury? Cheers.
  14. The US doesn’t need military backing when it goes to war. They only need the political backing of allies, and they don’t REALLY need that either. It just makes their decision to go to war look more acceptable . Cheers.
  15. Wilson, if he wasn’t made of glass ? Cheers.
  16. Your dads John Rambo ! Cheers.
  17. Purge them in cold fresh water overnight, put them on a barbecue, in the shell and add a spoonful of garlic butter, don’t over cook…..free, easy to cook and delicious ! Cheers.
  18. The missus and I were just talking about this. We remember when high streets had pork butchers, wet fish shops, greengrocers, hardware shops, instead of estate agents , charity shops and fast food outlets…..but we ARE very old though ! LOL ! Cheers.
  19. Tastes change, eel and lamprey were once popular a long time ago, who eats them now ? Monkfish was only good for fake “scampi”, now it’s an expensive gourmet fish ! We used to get “rock salmon” , (dog fish!),in the fish shops, never see it now. Cheers.
  20. Is that a euphemism? Cheers.
  21. I’ve got a lot of these, different sizes. There’s an old mine shaft near my allotment where a local hospital, now long gone , dumped their rubbish. Bottle collectors are always digging it up and a lot of the stuff is in good condition. Cheers.
  22. It’s not the banks that confiscate the money, it’s the government. It’s all to do with money laundering. Of course I’ve had discount for cash, but there are times a transaction can only be done by card. Are you seriously saying you never use a card ? How do you pay when you book a holiday, how do you pay for your fuel, do you never buy anything off the internet, Amazon, etc, do you never use an Uber or food delivery services? Some bars I know only take card, when my missus wanted a new phone contract the company would only take card. Whats wrong with using a debit card ?
  23. How do they take your money ? When you pay for something by card the vendor pays the fee, not the buyer . Cheers.
  24. Cash or card ? I guess it depends on the circumstances. My missus travels more than most and uses one of her cards for paying for travel on everything from long haul flights, trains, buses, taxis , even tuk tuks in Bangkok or horse drawn carriage in New York , simply because the card comes with very good travel insurance. As for cash, she was once pulled up by a customs officer with a cash sniffer dog in Heathrow with $10,000 in her bag, she had a very good reason for having it, so no problem, but if you haven’t got a good reason , the cash is gone ! Some times things are cheape
  25. I’ve never bred a pup in my life. I’ve used a dog or two free of charge at stud. I didn’t insinuate anything, I replied to Wilf who said it was people throwing dogs out of a motor that were keeping the game alive and I suggested that it was old fuckers like me who were still doing it the old way that were actually keeping the lurcher game going. We may disagree, that’s fine, but I think, and it’s just my opinion, that when the likes of me, who have seen the game go downhill over the years, retire, that the lurcher game will actually be f****d ! Who is going to carry on ? Cheers
