  1. I doubt anyone is going to join the thread and admit to it, but the game is riddled with scum, so often a gamble.............
  2. Good author. I think with regards to the original question it depends on what standard of living the fella wants, including his diet etc...........

  4. May help matey if you state if you have permission or you are hoping to go on other folks land
  5. No offence chap but Lincolnshire is mainly covered in shooting syndicates and permission can be hard to get, i know being from Lincolnshire. The fact is you only knocked on 5 doors and got 2 who said they would get back to you, in my eyes thats fantastic. I remember spending 4 days off work knocking on farms, i must have tried 50/60 and got one farm out of the lot. The only way to get permission is perseverance, be polite(even when they aren't), look smart and be sensible. Dont go dressed like a moron, dont take dogs, dont expect farmers to be on their knees praising your arrival. Keep tr
  6. Don't quite see why ferreted bunnies would help as opposed to lamped bunnies? Surely lamped bunnies on favourable ground for the dog are much easier to catch than bolted ones, therefore the increased catches and success would tell you sooner if the problem is solvable? A rabbit running away from home is easier to catch than one which is running for home: think about it............rabbit bolts from ferret, and unless there is another warren very close by it will be running scared, thinking about what it is running away from rather than where it is running to. Makes it easier for t
  7. F**k me it must be the full moon that brings them out, the typing style is also excellent!!!! At 7 months the dog is a pup, tonight is a full moon and conditions in most places are pretty shit and favour bunnies so possibly one of the worst nights to start what is basically a baby when everything is stacked in the quarries favour. Also not only can you NEVER say "i know she will do the bizz", there are no guarentees in this game, but you are also asking total strangers if you should keep your dog, reach into your handbag and see if you have a pair...............

  9. Exactly, 10 months would lead to lots of built up frustration, give him lotss of work on easy bunnies...........
  10. OBVIOULY CLEANING/NUTRITION THATS JUST ONE FACTOR BUT THATS BASIC. WHAT ABOUT INBREEDING/1ST /2ND GEN DOG,S CHECKING AND CULLING STUFF THAT,S IN THE EYE OF THE STOCKMAN WITH YRS OF EXPERIENCE BREEDING FOR RACING AND WORKING. GOOD STOCKMEN ARE EXPERIENCED GUY,S THAT HAVE GOT AT LEAST20YRS UNDER THEM WITH A HOME GROWN STAMP AND ARNT AFRAID TO TAKE A 100pcnt lose Well i have bred many different species but only been involved in breeding one litter of dogs so wont base my canine "stockmanship" on rearing litters, just MY experience. I think the comment about 20 years+ is nieve, i have b
  11. Well ive kept and been in charge of a very large animal collection, and also my own little kennel. To me good stockmanship with dogs is ensuring the basics are done, the dogs are exercised, mentally and physically stimulated, they are fed a correct diet, housed properly, routine health care and medication is adminstered and the owner "knows" there animals, there own little habits and quirks and knows when something isn't right, just my own brief thoughts.......
  12. Cracking day ith the family, and off to the greyhounds in 10 minutes with the family and kids for a few chip butties and hot chocolates.....,

  15. i thought the same Si , if it came as you say from good stock ,you could get a good lurcher. This x was good on rabbit, deer, fox, that i read about in the 70s. Ive seen most xs over the years run+work , and had few differnt xs my self. So maybe 1/4 GSD x 3/4grey or 1x might worth a look at mate, but you dont see many about, i think couple lads got some on here, so you never know .! Them GSD my old man had in the royal vetinary core [bANNED TEXT] stationed in the middle east in the 50s looking at the pics were a far cry from the gsd you see about today. Very much so, totally unlike th

  17. what more sean frain books,,,, aint you got enough,lol......... Dear god no............i made it clear a couple of years ago, no more Frain books...
  18. I've seen those two dogs work, both looked fine to me..................
  19. A few books is all i want, just spending time with the family will do me, a good meal, watching the kids open their presents and a walk with the dogs, sounds like heaven...........
  20. Im not taking about show bred rubbsh. I have kept, bred and worked imported shepherds, even trained one on the beam. They have a good constitution (not the hip problems), take knocks well, nose, stamina, good feet, coat, strong bite, tractable, intelligent, many are natural retreivers and they are loyal dogs. They also have a fair turn of speed.............
  21. Lesner looked gassed and overwealmed when in trouble against Valasquez, you can't train for trouble and Lesner looked like a deer in the headlights, he had the same look when he fought Carwin but pulled it out the bag. Lesner has great wrestling, amazing size, strength an athletisism BUT needs a hell of a lot of work on his stand up, although unless he can get used to things not going his way and bounce back he will never be a reigning champ, Overeem will also be a huge test to see if Brock can make it as a heavyweight main eventer.............
  22. A rare cross i have always fancied is a gsd/greyhound...............
  23. An emotive issue, i have only ever been involved in one litter, all the pups were crackers and were reared and all made the grade for what they were bred for, culing may bv neccersary sometimes, what boils my piss is those who derive pleasure from it, almost as a badge of honour to prove how "real deal" they are and think it enhances their penis size..............
  24. What chanel matey, i usually waych it on the web.........
