  1. Nothing wrong with that Stavross, a friend of mine had the pump version and shot loads with it. Ducks, geese, all manner of vermin. It eventually started to jam so he bought a benelli. I think he got £30 for it, but it had a hard life and gave good service for all the time and heavy use and abuse he gave it. Not a lot of money new, so fair value really, and he wasn’t bothered about scratching or marking it, which can be a bonus of course. It certainly had an air of patina about it to say the least?
  2. Good advice, and I’d agree about steel compared to lead. Unless they are HP steel, I wouldn’t use them. I’ve had some really poor steel cartridges, shot teal only for them to recover in the back of the truck. Sat there quacking at me. I’ve bowled squirrels over with them, and they’ve recovered, hit them again, and they’ve recovered again. Tested on a dog meat can at 25 yards and only made small dents. Load of crap, some of them. Bismuth, tungsten and Hevi shot is good, but expensive. I had some tin cartridges given to me once, when the lead ban came in I think. They were so poor on performance
  3. All this book sharing is making me think about learning to read. Good on you Stavross, nice gesture ?
  4. Good write up Ian, and a good result fella ?
  5. Nice gift fella. Is the guarantee still valid since Saturday 4th March 1972?, that was the day after my dads 38th birthday ?. I know sleetmoor lane, live about 4 miles away?
  6. Great advice Phil. Especially about the jeans. I’ve followed your instructions on that. It’s a bit more difficult to walk, but worth it for the saving in cost. ?
  7. He’ll be missing it alright. When I was a kid, all I could seem to do was counting the days until I could go shooting again with my uncle.
  8. Nowt wrong with transvestites, err, I mean .20 cal?
  9. The last ones I had Phil, were sellier and bellot and I couldn’t push them beyond 50 yards as accuracy started to suffer. In fact, I’ve still got a few left. They were dirt cheap mind, about £2:70 / 50 I think, so ok for rats on an old embankment where I shoot. The chamber needs a good clean after a good few have been used, as they leave a burn ring that makes subsequent lr rounds tight to chamber.
  10. I used to use a .25 bsa Supersport for feral clearance in factories, for which it was ideal. I also used it for rabbits around some units at fairly short ranges though. Good out to twenty yards, but it gets more difficult beyond that for sure. Not really a good all round calibre at those relatively low velocities in my opinion either.
  11. I have .177, .20, .22 and .25 in sub 12. Out of all of them .177 is the easiest to shoot and .20 with lightweight pellets, not far behind as far as drop is concerned. When you’ve been using the smaller calibres for a while, then get a .22 or .25 out, you soon notice the difference. If you go for .25, you’ll need to be very good at range estimation or you’ll find that you keep missing.
  12. Yerr, I think I might have a look into these. My bottle is out of test now so I’ve got that to sort as well.
  13. I had a b55 which is basically the same rifle with a shorter barrel. Mine was venom tuned with a custom tyrolean stock. It ran at about exactly the same power that yours is Phil. My only slight disappointment was the power, although in reality it didn’t matter much. It was a lovely rifle and the build quality was superb. Probably the air rifle I most regret ever selling. I actually advertised it, along with a few others in the ad-mag. Got home from work and it had sold, my wife said the buyer didn’t quibble on price and nearly snatched it from her hands. He didn’t even ask to try it out first.
  14. I’ve got a 12 ltr bottle, what make is your compressor and how much are they? Might get one myself as I have three pcp’s now and an empty slot for another.
  15. You felt that confident Mark, but you missed........... twice?
  16. How long does it take to fill your dive bottle mole? Is it 230 or 300 bar?
  17. Just found a few old pictures of my rapid on the squirrels. All this sitting around the house, I must be bored?
  18. Has anybody seen my pigeon? It’s grey, last seen near the railway. Answers to the name of filthyferal.? £1000 reward for his safe return.? I miss him so much?
  19. A friend of mine has one, but I’ve never had a shot with it.
