  1. Been mentioned though, as your reputation precedes you, tell him Ben........... some places you aren’t allowed to have a laugh, SD yes, but especially PW? they’ll probably trace this comment and ban me now?
  2. I’m thinking it’s probably something to do with the fx barrels jimmy. Smooth twist, smooth twist X or slug liner. To slightly differing degrees maybe, but they appear to be better suited to slugs than more conventional rifled barrels? Standard rifled barrels certainly seem to need plenty of speed, as in fac levels, to stabilise slugs. But then, I could be wrong, it has been known??
  3. Yerr, they prefer peanuts I know ? I can get the sweepings for nowt so plenty for squirrel feeders if I need it? As for the good stuff, he won’t sell any yet as he knows it’s going to go up? but I can get it elsewhere, not checked on price yet as the sheds need clearing out before it’s worth buying any more wheat.
  4. Hmm, my thoughts too regarding speed. Also, the fx barrels may well be more suited to them?
  5. Might give that a try as I’ve got about 75kgs left in the shed from shooting season. It’s obviously pulling them in at the moment for you, and a lot cheaper than peanuts ?
  6. Yerr, good shooting vm. What are you using in the feeders at the moment?
  7. Have you had much success with any of the .177 slugs running at 12ft lbs vm? The only ones I’ve tried were the h&n rabbit magnums in my hw100 and they were abysmal to say the least. To the point that I wasn’t really sure where some of them went, certainly not on the target.
  8. Why are you finding it tricky to purchase over the counter? How old are you?........?
  9. Just been outside to give them a go. A bit breezy so not the best results, but the jsb exact heavy were definitely the best of this bunch. The jsb 13.43 grain monsters were all over the place, jsb 16.2 grain beast were strangely better than the monsters but not good and only three of the five were on the paper. The other two dropped below. Range was 35 yards measured. Note though, a bit breezy for best results.
  10. Yerr, it’s a good idea Phil. The amount of part tins of different pellets I’ve accumulated over the years due to this reason is daft. I wouldn’t want to add them all up price wise ?.....
  11. They’re expensive and not as good for me as jsb’s in my opinion. Well made, but as above, I won’t buy any more as they’re more expensive than jsb at my rfd and I like the softness of jsb lead. Just my opinion of course. They may work better in other guns???
  12. I bought a tin a couple of weeks ago. Tried them in my hw100 .177. They seem well made but hard. They punched straight through two baked bead tins (one behind the other)without knocking them over at 35 yards, so I’m guessing low energy transfer? Accuracy fairly good but jsb’s still have the edge in my hw. I don’t regret trying them, but due to their price and not quite matching jsb in my gun, I won’t be buying any more of them.
  13. I bought one from Aldi and it’s been good. Had it a few years now. About £70 I think?
  14. No matter, he’s going nowhere ?. Great drawing ?
  15. Nothing wrong with driven squirrel, one of my favourite sports ??
  16. Took it when you weren’t looking.........?
  17. Ben..............get the hornet. Consider yourself enlightened ?
  18. I’ve just been looking at the website on one of my local dealers. The cci ammo that’s come back into stock has gone up loads. S&B and RWS seem to be better value at the moment. SK’s are good but mostly target stuff. They seem to have stopped production of their excellent subsonic hp’s for some reason? I can still get the SK high velocity hp’s at a bargain £5:85/100, but they’re noisy of cause, but that doesn’t necessarily matter.
  19. I had redpolls in the seventies, as well as bullies, goldies, linnets and greenies. Keep thinking about setting up again. I used to use finch fronts on the breeders. Also had borders and Gloucesters. Had twelve double breeders and indoor and outdoor aviaries. Sold the lot and every time I see these threads it sets me off again ?
  20. That’s atrocious, I think I’d have phoned the police. I’ve seen their ads on gt but I certainly won’t be buying anything from them now. Good on you for naming and shaming them. ?
  21. Image it these days, the snowflakes would have the shopkeeper locked up?
  22. “A fag for me mam please” ......”ten pence, and would your mam like a match to go with it?” ......”yes please” brings back memories ? ”nearly forgot, an’ bottle of ‘Nut Brown’ for me dad as well”
