    Got it! Apparently, birds don't like hairspray, perfume and aftershave. So our farmers need to find old stocks of brute or oldspice and spray it on the land. It may destroy the bees and essential microbes in the soil but that's never bothered them before any how. I tested the theory last night by smuggling out with the mrs hair spray and spraying a bird's nest in the noxious substance to deter the magpies from approaching the nest.     Those gas bangers are useless. When I tip the shot in it pours out the other end! And the gas is expensive.

    I scaring them illegal? Like dressing up as a scarecrow and shouting " BOO" ok? Or putting a banger under them? I use to frequent somewhere that in the tall hedges magpies would roost and on moon lit nights it was worth a visit with a 410. Only to scare them mind. Still had to cover my face! They soon learnt to disperse but every early spring they would prefer this hedge. The little rascals.

    Mate of mine used them in his 250. I didn't like them. Very unpredictable results untill he slowed them down to 223 levels then they behaved more consistently on contact!

    I shall have to return to try and see the male then. Bet they make a tasty snack for a crow! Dear cwis, it may just be that some of us enjoy shooting crows because we may just know it is a good thing, has benefits so is rewarding etc. So while you are judging and wanting to control certain people you have subjected thousands of vulnerable wildlife to unlimited predation, on an even greater scale than the number of crows shot in the UK. Well done....not.

    There's about five. I could get a shot of them all together. There is another brood too. I saw a jackdaw carrying a day old a few weeks ago. It couldn't fly far with it. That was a shame for that jackdaw!

    ....how kwis has stopped folk putting photos of shot vermin on the web but know the folk that enjoyed shooting winged vermin are discussing the destruction by winged vermin of non vermin species! I don't see much concern by bunny huggers about death by vermin and it's affects on the vulnerable wildlife! Years ago on spring watch they were filming a bird's nest on a little island somewhere 24/7. Then something ate the lot. They pretended that they had no idea what happened. They were filming it 24/7.     When I take photo I get in trouble! I can do this then. They know I'm shooting vermin via my licence and I can photograph it! Perfect ?
